Food for thought and then some.

Firstly online/solo preference. 2017

https://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/6827-if-you-could-only-play-single-player-or-multiplayer-games

Previously I've posted two earlier versions of this poll of the day.

2014

https://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/5478-if-you-could-only-play-single-player-or-multiplayer-games

2015

https://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/6012-if-you-could-only-play-single-player-or-multiplayer-games

Now the real point of this post. Two Polls on consecutive days to find out which first half and which second half October release are most looked forward to.

First half Forza 7 for context

https://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/6852-which-scheduled-first-half-of-october-release-are-you-most

8,629 votes in total of which Forza 7 gets 555. This is 6.43% of the vote.

Then the bad news. GTS in the second half version.

https://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/6853-which-scheduled-second-half-of-october-release-are-you-most

A total of 12,516 votes with GTS getting 509 votes which is 4.07% of the vote.

Only ONE game got less votes. Nights of Azure 2: Bride of the New Moon with 340 votes for 2.72%

After PCars 2's 1st week sales were 74% lower than the original, it's second week has seen another 50% drop. Bandai Namco and SMS will need to rethink their strategy if they still plan PCars 3 on consoles. The technical issues, word of mouth, and strong competition have taken a toll.

Interesting. It was at number 3 in the UK sales charts (all formats) after its first part week, then it was number 2 after its first full week, now it's dropped to number 9 after three weeks.

This is PCars 2's second week.

Chart positions tell you little as it can take as little as 5,000 unit sales to get in the UK top 10, hence why any title heavily bundled (like Horizon 3), spends months in the top 20. The telling stats are PCars 2 underperforming versus the original by 74% 1st week, and another 50% drop 2nd week.

Forums polls and post are a self-selective group so give a distorted picture versus the wider market. Forza 7 launched today and is #3 on Amazon UK. GT Sport is a little over 2 weeks from launch and has two sku's in the top 20 (#9 & #18). The others mixing it up in the top 20 are the usual suspects like FIFA 18, Battlefront 2, Shadow of War, Mario Odyssey and CoDWWII.

Which game?

----

Between France at 2nd behind NBA in its second week, Germany in 3rd on PS4 (2nd on X1) and 3k copies in Spain, it's safe to say it's performing lower than PC1 in Europe unless they have the hugest digital rate increase, which Steam is failling to show. Sold less in Japan as well.
It will take a couple weeks for NPD, but charting was already out of question.

Hopefully Forza 7 has a stronger reception this week due FH3 good will.

Racing doom and gloom moved to orange alert.

Pro Cars 2. Mistake, It's at number 7.

The first week was two days not a week. Where does the 50% drop in sales figure come from?

As was pointed out earlier by me and others, this information is only a small slice of the overall picture so there's no way to conclude that sales, overall, are down. It only measures physical sales and only in the UK. There's even a link in the article leading to another story that basically says they are completely uncertain of what the actual results are due to the increasing proliferation of digital sales and a changing marketplace. Sales may indeed be down but there is no way to definitively draw that conclusion from this information.

Yeah PCars2 hasn't done well with such a decrease from its original. Goes to show how bad word of mouth can affect sequels. Would be interesting to see where GTS lands in respect to GT5 and GT6.

Forza's sales will be interesting. Wonder how many will carry over from FH3 (which sold really well). With PCARS 2 being a non factor, I think it should be at the very least the 2nd best selling Forza this generation. The Scorpio effect should give it a decent boost.

Wonder how MS will deal with bundling.

If it does have poor sales, then PD might be worried.

With the amount of backlash the game is receiving right now, I don't imagine it doing better than Horizon. It also comes apart as the least popular of the bunch.

Forza Horizon 3 did fine at launch, but it's chart performance in 2017 is down almost entirely to bundling.

It's certainly only part of the picture, but UK retail is a big chunk for a UK developed title, that doesn't have much market share in Europe and the US. Unless there are amazing digital and PC sales, we're probably looking at sales 50% lower than the original.

It's not U.K. retail, it's U.K. physical copy sales. Since you mentioned it, how big of a chunk, in hard numbers, are U.K. sales for this title. If they don't have much market share in Europe and the U.S., what is that market share exactly? They've moved 2.8 million units in total according to Ian Bell, some of them free promo giveaways. How many were sold in the U.K. and elsewhere?

We can put the rest the argument of "it doesn't mean anything at the moment" now

PCARS 2 sales are down 75% from the original. Also shows PD dodged a bullet with not releasing against D2 or FIFA.

Yes it is, but that's the whole month. Digital won't make up for 75%.
No ones said it would, nor was PC2 on sale for the whole month.

The data is still as incomplete and limited as it has been since these numbers were first quoted.

It's a games site for all games mate. It's a daily vote. You can only vote for what you want. It's a demonstration of the popularity of one game over another.

The 75% is adjusted to reflect the parallel weeks. No digital sales were counted on the original PCARS numbers. The steam numbers are narrowing down to F1 2017 and AC's levels as well.

Yes. None of which changes the point that its an incomplete picture.

Again, you are making conclusions you cannot support with data. Physical sales are down in one country using less than a complete month for comparison. Your continued releasing of a tiny slice of data and making sweeping conclusions again reveals your agenda.

It's a complete picture that sales are significantly down in the UK. Physical sales are a quarter of the physical sales of the first.

Guess everyone on most gaming forums saying PCARS 2 had bad sales is an agenda then. If you'd like to believe PCARS 2 is selling great or neutral then go ahead.

No it's not. It's an incomplete month and physical sales are down. If you can tell me what % physical sales are of total sales you've got something. Otherwise, you've got nothing.

I don't read other gaming forums but if that's what they're saying, in the same manner as you, then yes, they also have an agenda. You, on the other hand, are behaving as if you do. The shortcomings in your data have been pointed out to you numerous times by multiple people and you continue to ignore them and make sweeping statements about game sales.

Sales numbers aren't something I "believe" in, I leave that kind of thinking for unicorns and the tooth fairy. I rely on hard, complete data, because I don't have an agenda. Complete data doesn't lie.

Its a complete picture of physical only sales, for a week, in one market.

Nothing more and nothing less, you seem to forget that the person that broke this originally described looking at physical sales alone as "beyond a farce" and that "...when it comes to how brands are performing, or how the overall market is developing, it's almost an irrelevance."
