There is one test i can conduct to see if the ai is any harder than f1 ce.

On f1 ce i led many races and even once got pole in a toro rosso if i can't do that then i consider the AI improved.

And in a renault (i know their not as fast as they were so id use a red bull) I could lap the hungaroring 3seconds a lap faster than the AI.

And i use a pad not a wheel.

Still quite expensive... cheapest ive seen is a couple hundred aussie. And so thats what 2 games or 3 if you get the games cheap.

Seen one on ebay a bit cheaper.. but still, if f1 2011 is actually controllable with the controller (which I'm guessing it will be after every 2nd person complains about it), then I'm spending quite a bit just to improve a game.. and gt5 is out soon... tough call..

fk. you guys have almost convinced me... I have gone from.. no to hell no, to maybe to yes, or ok wheres the cheapest to no, to yes, to no because of wheel to YES! all today!!!!!

Few questions...
How much are they 2nd hand say..?
Aparently there are button problems..?
And finally.. no clutch, so can you map a button to clutch or not?

Only other time i've bought something for ps other than controllers and games has been a guitar for hero on ps2 and ive played with eyetoy but not mine.

thanks

Right now a G27 is cheaper than a G25 if you buy online

G27: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001NT9TK4/?tag=gtplanet-20

G25: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000GP8448/?tag=gtplanet-20

Take my advice on this one.. If you do. A wheel is the second biggest PS3 accessory besides the actual PS3... Buy in store or somewhere with a warranty, it's a little bit more but if anything goes wrong you wont be out of pocket as much.

I've had my G25 since it's inception from GT4. I paid $350 and it's still going strong.

The cars take way too long to change gears in F1 2010. These are F1 cars, they should change almost instantly, there's quite a long pause between gears, which you don't hear irl.

Just what I was thinking yesterday.
And even the downshifting is rather funny.
Maybe Mr Anthony Davidson doesn't remember how a F1 sounds?

If you're judging by those Lotus and HRT videos, keep in mind that the XTrac gearboxes they use probably don't have seamless-shift like everyone else has had since 2008.

Yeh remember HRT couldent even afford to make the entire car out of carbon.

It's like that for every car.

Don't diss HRT, they're doing better than Virgin. At least HRT can finish a race, and have the right fuel tank.

A nice video with a decent driver. Watch him have realistic problems in the wet later in the video.

At least Virgin have a low downforce package for Monza and don't need to hire a rubbish paydriver who runs over his mechanics (in the words of a certain F1 Rejects forum member, Go home, Colin Kolles!).

The wet track looks spectacular, far better than in GT5.

It seems cars are leaving no trace on it though, uhm...

4 guys in the 1st corner is doable if you go in the right direction. Bit to go from 22nd to 10th by turn 1 isn't. You could easily do the latter in F1:CE

Yes, this was one of the poor things with F1CE - it shouldn't be possible to overtake 10 cars in a couple of corners. Other than that the AI was pretty good. Even 4 cars in the first corner doesn't seem realistic - not when you can do it every time! Judging by the F1 2010 videos I've seen, it's too easy to overtake by just diving aggressively into the corners. I think this is fine for the lower difficulty levels, but the highest difficulty level should attempt to be more true to real F1 racing IMO. If the highest difficulty level turns out to be generally acknowledged to be too easy, I wonder how likely it would be to get a difficulty upgrade via DLC?

I wish I could afford a new PC to play this on, but I can't justify it when I have a PS3 already and I find the PS3 graphics to be completely acceptable.

Agreed! Graphics are of some importance, but definitely take a back seat to the other aspects of the game. Chasing the absolute optimal graphics by continually updating your PC is a mug's game IMO.

If you are a sim-racing fan & spend a lot of time sim-racing you should have a wheel. Certainly makes more sense than spending an extra $1,000 to "optimize" the graphics.

Where are you guys buying F1 2010 in the US? Gamestop is telling me they won't have it until the 22nd, release says the 21st.

Drivers look at the lollipop man to know when to go. Not Yamamoto's fault. And he's not so bad anymore. He's within a second of Senna.

At least HRT's team owner won't have to dress up in a Flight Attendant suit at the end of the year.

Picking mine up tomorrow at 8 am at the local Fry' for $49.96

I can't see the ad for some reason, but I will check with my local Fry's in the morning. Thank you for the info mate.

PS: I called Fry's, they could not confirm an in-store release of the item, I will call my local store tomorrow. Regardless, that is the best price I have seen.

I'm 33 miles from the nearest 4-lane road and I'm sure any game store is further than that, so I went for lowest-cost mailorder (almost 100% of my Blu-ray and gaming purchases are made that way) - turned out to be J&R on the east coast because Amazon charges me sales tax.

So I wait a couple days longer for delivery; no big deal, I have very little free time during the week.

Edit: Thanks to JHunt's link above (Fry's didn't come up in my price scans) J&R did a match for a total of $51.95 including shipping, no tax. Thanks for the tip!
