Loving the game. I've spent all night at Bahrain  Actually disappointed to learn the new section added for 2010 won't be there next year. The new T5-T8 is fantastic.

This is the most polarizing game ever. As someone said before, when everything is going well it's a great representation. The other game I was in a distant 8th place, closing on 7th place at about 0.1-0.2 seconds a lap. Caught up after about 10 laps, had a great battle trying to find a place to pass, got a head and had to start going defensive after long straights. Then all of a sudden. BAM. Another puncture on the second corner. I've had a puncture, literally, every race. 8th to distant last. Then lapped, and get so many Blue Flags it's impossible to catch back up....

Still developing my overall opinion on the topic, probably somewhere between a 7.5-8.5.

Anyway regarding running Time Trials, and hopefully setting a good LB time, make sure and change your engine to the "fast" throttle map shortly after you begin your lap. This will make a HUGE difference in your times. Running in the RB at Bahrain I just about immediately dropped from a high 1'56" to a high 1'54" with this simple switch. Big difference :D.

Well F1 fans I’m on my 3rd track in the carrier mode now and the practice thing is the secret to my being able to wire these tracks. It’s so weird the amount of laps it takes me to finally be able to blast the course, in SHIFT it took me around 8 laps but with this baby it’s taking about 20 - 25 laps of practice to get to a point where I have it burned into my head. The game is totally cerebral and after a while a switch goes off and pop. The thing is uploaded and I can port my self into the car, what a rush. The more I play it the better I like it. It is such a different rush then SHIFT, the thing is like real. Right now as I’m typing this the broad in the trailer just keeps staring at me and won’t say anything … lol

I think now that the SHIFT league is disbanded and there are no more races I have found a new temporary home until the big elephant is released. I don’t know how I’m going to get my work done for the next 2 weeks since this thing is going to suck the spare time right out of me. As soon as someone gets a feel for when the first races are going to take place please speak up because I’m going to be sharpening my fangs and I’m going to get hungry in a few ….lol this is going to be fun, what a great game. A weeks notice ahead of time would be like uber cool, thankzzzzzz

I find the ploughing understeer in slow corners aggravating. It just doesn't feel right to me. No slip, just a plough/mega understeer.

Not really digging the misty look, even on a bright sunny day. Prologue/GT5/F1CE looks so bright and sunny, when it's sunny, that's what I expect. It's like there is bad pollution in the air :)

Lancia Stratos

Fenomenon Stratos as well

Another 3 hours in the game. Just running 10% races, so no issues with pitting etc. So far I'm quite impressed with the AI - pushes pretty hard & seems to be quite varied & interactive. I certainly haven't found it easy to win races - making lots of mistakes spinning out at first. The understeer into corners does seem a bit odd, but once you adjust to it it is OK.

On the subject of the graphics, I find it hard to believe anyone is that impressed by them on the PS3. I realize that what the graphics remind me of most is GT4 - not really as good as GT4 in most respects, but better in some ways. The cars don't really seem to sit on the road surface, both while racing & in the replays. In particular, the tires of the car you're driving (in cockpit or T cam view) look very unconvincing.

Its unfortunate it costs too much to develop these separately. Bc most multiplats to suffer due to having to keep everything even. Codemasters seem to be one of the worse imo. 720 on a 1080 is very eh.

Can we please stop with the GT5, GT5 Prologue comparisons, please? Compromises had to be made, it's a multi-platform game, GT5 is an exclusive so of course GT5 is going to look better. :P

Now, this is why I brought the PC version, not even a week into it's release and it hasn't even been released everywhere, but.... F1 2010 Camera Mods

Is anyone else having MAJOR framerate slowdowns on Monaco (PS3)?

Also, there's no painted white lines in the tunnel. It's just really artificial looking asphalt :-|

Codemasters or not, any racing game with this many bugs is inexusable. A full on dedicated F1 game with this many bugs is just laughable. How can they even release it like this? Particularly the lollypop pit lane bug. It's like the devs never even did a pit stop in testing.

On their official forums, they have addressed it day of release lol So its nice knowing they are probably going to be fixing i soon

Or they did but this bug didn't occur till a very late build? 💡
Why assume the bug was there from the beginning? Its not a game-breaking bug, you can still get around it. It is a major bug that really should be fixed, but it isn't a 100% progression blocker. I have seen far worse bugs left in released games, in fact I have seen 100% crash bugs left in games...this one is hardly the worst (though it is pretty bad).

Stop bringing rational thought to the process, Ardius!

As for developing at 1080, that's quite a lot of effort to design the interfaces to work at 1080p. I don't mind it so much, if the series is successful, then you could well see it in future versions.

Come on Postman...

I really hoped this game would be worth buying but it seems I will just save the money for GT5. I heard they shipped 2 million copies but I just say good luck selling those with all the bugs it seems to have.

Bad news this end is that it hasn't come, and I've had enough messing around so I'm going to TESCO to buy it.

Annoyingly with a lot of preorders I'm not that bothered about them, and given that it's £32 at shopto, plus the £3 credit I'm now owed I'd normally leave it, but I've been expecting to play this since Wednesday and I'm fed up of staring out the window every morning.

Or the bug was found late in a build close to release and they were unable to fix it in time. Many games can get stuck in development hell if the developers try to fix everything and this game is particularly time-critical what with the season almost over and GT5 close.
The game isn't finished when they send it for testing, so a bug like this can not appear for many builds and then suddenly appear just before being mastered.

Be grateful it can be patched at all! GT2 had some serious bugs and it couldn't be patched, only fixed in later releases!
Sorry but your wrong about games not being finished before testing. On the Xbox 360 all games are only sent to MS for certification when they are finished.

I reckon they knew about this bug but didn't want to delay the game because of GT5 coming soon. Now this is wrong in my eyes because you cannot sell a faulty product.

As for being grateful, sorry but i've shown my gratitude by giving Codemasters my money. Sorry if I sound harsh but im fed up of buying faulty video games especially racing games. Unfortunately some people seem to think this is acceptable because they can be patched. Well I personally don't find it acceptable. I wouldn't find it acceptable buying a faulty washing machine or cooker or TV, so why should video games be any different!

Sounds to me as though someone has stolen your game. I ordered my copy of F1 2010 from Shop to on Wednesday and recieved it yesterday. This wouldn't surprise me though because I remember once on my Birthday the envelopes on my Birthday cards had been ripped open and sellotaped back together. Obviously someone knew they were birthday cards and wanted to see if any cash was inside.

Ordering online is excellent because at times you get games earlier and cheaper. However you do run the increasing risk of these being stolen.

Not game breaking? I pitted in 10th position after qualifying 13th and after everyone did their stops I was 22nd. The other cars go in ghost mode and overtake you in pitlane. Literally drive right THROUGH your car in PITLANE. If that isn't bad enough you aren't even aloud to leave your pit box until every single car has gone past. It's the most retarded thing I've ever seen in a racing game. It's so ridiculously bad I'm not even continuing with career. It's online only until GT5 then this game can GTFO.

Oh really? No, it is you who is wrong, testing is a very long and frustrating process, all games carry out testing from the very early alpha builds right up until the mastered release.
Bugs can appear in various builds and can range from once-only crashes to graphical glitches and random resources going missing.

Certification is not testing, certification is simply when the game is age rated and checked for quality. Certification happens long before the game is finished, thats why we have TRC, legal and localisation departments to check that a game conforms to its original certification or whether it needs to be re-certified.

Technically a bug like this isn't a fault, the game isn't broken, its just unnecessarily hard. I wouldn't call it a "Faulty product"...more a "flawed product".

Game breaking in the sense that it doesn't crash the game or stop you from finishing the race. Maybe your experience is broken, but the game is not, it just has a very serious flaw.
I'm not saying it shouldn't be fixed, just explaining why such a bug may be waived if its found very close to release.

Mine did come this morning. Did you use the Recorded delivery from ShopTo? Mine was just the normal First Class.

He really isn't, both Ardius and I have first hand experience of it. Our testing company get sent progressive builds throughout a set-time period. During these builds we'll be finishing various aspects, be it an update to the UI, numerous AI changes, various databases, etc. The only thing that won't be added during a testing schedule would be features.

Most games get patched and almost all will need to be, thankfully we're in a generation where it's quite simple to do so, technically. It's just a simple fact that the best data you can get will be from release to hundreds of thousands of people, not from a hundred or so people (probably less with Codies tbh) in QA. Yes, it's annoying and yes devs do release games with bugs.

It generally takes us about 3 or 4 patches to get the game to where we want it. That's quite common.

Sorry but despite your waffle it doesn't excuse the fact that you cannot sell a faulty product. You say this bug might not of been noticed until very late in the development. So are you telling me that whilst in development the game designers never made one pit stop until right before release!!

Yes mine was recorded, although I'm glad it was because I will be asking shopto for a refund, so at least they can see it hasn't been delivered and I'm not trying to pull a fast one on them.

But but but .... it just defies belief!! It's like Codemasters have no knowledge whatsoever of motorsport, let alone F1. I just can't believe they could release it like this. It should be illegal

No, I'm saying that in all previous 30+ builds (or however many there were), the testers never found this pit bug because it wasn't there.
Then the devs altered something to fix something in build 38 or whatever and it broke the pits. Then the devs either didn't have time to fix it or attempted to fix it through further builds and got no where.

Eventually the devs have to decide to either spend even more time trying to fix and potentially break something something even more major or release it and attempt to patch a fix.
You may think that its better to try and fix before release, but many games end up in development hell where every bug they fix creates a new one. For all we know, F1 2010 may have already been through a huge testing cycle and this release was simply the most stable build.

I wasn't suggesting it was intentional game design, just that the devs would have had to make a decision whether the bug was serious enough to delay the whole release. Codies certainly wouldn't have intended it to be this way.

I get what you're saying Ardius and I'm no coder or anything, but on a dedicated racing game ... mate ... this is a shocking bug.

.
Now you have explained this it does make more sense to me. Sorry if I come across as being harsh but im just frustrated. I've read a temporary solution to this problem so hopefully I can enjoy the game a bit more.
