Yeah in career mode on expert. I'm with Lotus and even the low tier cars seem to pass me easily (Virgin, HRT). My teammate not as much but every time I look behind me they're trailing me and seem to be getting Gran Turismo levels of slipstream from Gran Turismo distances  ...

Once you get used to ways the way the car handles its very pleasing to play. Once you start ring clean laps one after another you feel good.

I tried to do a full length race weekend but give up half way through the race due to sore legs and backside  Was playing 4 hours flat!

My only gripe is the AI is to easy to beat, in career mode I started in the Lotus, and I'm able to get pole position and 1st in practice sessions by over a 1 second margine. I'm playing in expert mode with all driving aids turned of.

Other than that I highly recommend it, I'm having great fun with it! 8 out of 10 for me :)

Am I doing something wrong in regards to the AI being very easy? I shouldn't be getting pole position in a Lotus with all driving aids of and expert mode surely?

Same solution most of us propose: switch it over to Legendary, and I guarantee you that you'll never see the pole again in your life.

Since there's no times threads, I'll post in here that I'm currently trying to improve on a 1.18.312 at Canada (HRT).

Booya.
1'17.065 :) Home court advantage!

I believe expert automatically puts it to Lengendary but you could check just to be sure.

IMO on Bahrain the AI is fast or at least able to keep pace in certain sections but in others they are baaad. What I am assuming is the new section (long right hand turn that goes into a tight left, then a right and then another right) really slows them down. Around the sweeping right hand turn I can pass 2 because they slow down so much, then depending on how the cars are positioned I can pass one on the left turn and then another on the first right. In a Lotus btw.

I was considering getting this game for my laptop but seeing the bug topic is already 57 pages long just a day or two after the release I'm not even considering this.

I'm wondering whether they even implemented the fix after their testers ran the game. In fact, I'm wondering whether they even tested the game at all.

Sounds like they just wanted to get it out there ASAP 👎

Bram, it's not a bad game. The bugs aren't anything major, and Codemasters must surely be working on patches as we speak.

It's still very, very enjoyable.

I think CM will be on top of fixing this game. They dont want to loose their contract with F1 im sure, and they are representing the F1 name and all the drivers and sponsors. I mean the game has been out a few days. they said their fixing it. Now lets just RACE!!

Am I missing something here? I can't see anything any where that says legendary

Yea they do seem to be slow in the new section, I can gain a couple of seconds on the cars in front of me there but I can hassle a redbull the whole way round the track in my Lotus, in expert mode, with no assists.

I'm still enjoying it though, best game I've played in a while despite the (IMO) minor glitches. And I've only had one puncture, and I've spun about 20 times

I’m not sure where I rate right now in the game but I’m going about it very conservatively considering that I’m just one notch up from the easy which is ridiculous and I’m using an auto trans. I’m learning the tracks one by one and like the progress that I’m making. I’m not so egotistical that I am going to just jump off the cliff right now and go without a net. What I’m seeing is that the ones that are complaining the loudest are more then likely running cold turkey without feeling out the game. I think I want everyone frustrated with the game so when we start racing you’ll have demons that haunt your confidence and I’ll just fly bye. He he he ….lol

Whoops! That's my bad, I don't know why I keep calling it legendary, it's just 'Legend'.

EDIT: Which reminds me, what in the heel is a "flashback"? If it's anything like rewind then I'm leaving it off.

Sorry to sound like a total n00b but I've never seen that screen before , where/how do I get it up? Will go check it once I know how to get it :)

When you start the game up, go over to your trailer and go over (pressing to the right) from where your hot agent lady is and right where you can start your next race (or session, whether it be practice or qualifying) you can adjust everything from there. Go down to difficulty and voila!

AI was on professional, will give it a go on Legend now, if I can still get pole, then I must just me truly amazing

Finally an enjoyable track, Catalunya, nice and flowing, none of these sterile straights into hairpin "artifical" tracks....

Anyway I did well in time trial, practise and qualifying - enjoyable
But that chicane before the last turn into the straight is a horror. Any sort of power to the wheel causes you to spin out when you ride the curbs or even just after going over the curb. I pretty much coast here. I see the AI fishtail a bit too here.

But when I go to the race, it's raining extremely heavy, I have wets on and max downforce, and the car feels terrible. But somehow the AI seems to be driving like nothing is that different???? :scared:
They pull away and I get left way behind after 1 lap...

I quit straight away, will try again with a different setup

Also any reason why I can't set the fast engine map in a career mode race? I can do it Time Trial

'Flashback' is rewind. I am having a blast online and in the game, bugs or no bugs-just use a tear off on your visor :)

Flashbacks are indeed rewinds, much like the ones that appeared in DIRT. They're largely there to be a little more forgiving on new players, but when you set the difficult level to its hardest setting, they're no longer available.

Im down for tuning thread. Im just waiting for new one to start lol I unsubcribed from this one, too much whining. Maybe its bc this is my first F1 game? but im enjoying the hell out of it! Cant wait for GTP Championship to start

Now, either you're being funny or there's something in that mess of a menu system that I've missed.

I'm not being a wise guy whatsoever.

When you're in the garage, you can tune your car from there (go to the onboard display) and go the far right (second to last) and there you go.

Ah thankyou. You have no idea how long it took me to work out that to quit practice i had to go into INFO.

The User Interface has to be the most idiotic ever concieved, it appears people are getting lost in it and never finding quite important options.

I find it pretty dumb that the game throws you back to the main menu/paddock after each session of a singular Grand Prix (as in, not career mode, the standard single race).

Attempting to make the whole game structure exactly like a race driver's weekend was wasted effort in my opinion, as it quickly wears thin constantly loading back and forth from the track whereas in F1:CE you could progress to each session without all that messing about.

This game fails the simple rule of simplicity not complexity, which is ironic for a game that is aimed at the casual player...who isn't going to spend time digging through menus for all this stuff.

I just got done with Practice and Qualifying on Catalunya and you're right..that last chicane section is like a nightmare. :scared: I've spun so many times through there by touching a curb or two. It's super tight and you've got to watch your speed!

So I was able to keep up with the group during practice and qualifying and now starts the race. I immediately get left behind on the first straight down to turn 1 and I can't keep up at all.
Some people over on the Codemaster's forum think that the AI do not have fuel simulation turned on while we do. I haven't turned it off myself but I'll try later to see if that makes a difference.

The AI practice and qualifying times are essentially randomly generated, there's no connection at all with what they do on track and what the timing screen says.

No wonder people can beat them in qualifying then get crushed in the race.

There is an apparent bug with wet weather in that Codemasters forum thread. Something about them not even feeling the wet conditions...

Also, fuel loads for the AI cars are apparently non existent. They start the race on low fuel and never consume any.

Your team needs to research this i believe. But i haven't totally worked out the whole r&d thing. It seems like if you do well your team gets more r&d but if your doing really bad your team never works on r&d.

I don’t know how many people are trying to run the career mode but if you try to look back at what you have done or where you have placed at a particular track, good luck it’s looks like you can’t find any historical info on your finishing orders, lap times, or anything. On the 6 tracks that I have done so far the only thing that I can find is the overall junk like podiums, # of races, wins, and best fins. What a head shaker, you would think that you could at least look back and see your own history in your phony career.

Another weird thing that I’m finding is that the game doesn’t show you the foot print of the tracks except right before it zooms in and shows you your location on an up close part of the track. If anyone is looking for some basic info that lines up with the order of the career events that are the actual schedule for the real F1 season I found a site that looks like it could have been produced for the game but I haven’t dug into deep enough to actually know, here it is, they are links that bring up a footprint of the track as well as where the pit entrance is. I can at least look at my laptop w/ the complete shape of the track as I try to sort out the learning curve.
