If anyone is looking for some basic info that lines up with the order of the career events that are the actual schedule for the real F1 season I found a site that looks like it could have been produced for the game but I haven’t dug into deep enough to actually know...

Hmmm, that sounds strangely familiar where have I seen something like that... oh yeah here ;):

Silverstone is bumpy! Not sure the profile of the exit of Chapel is right, feels too tight.

I'm enjoying this so far, they are quite challenging to drive with all Aids off on the hardest settings, etc. One slip of concentration and you're gone.

I think Silverstone in general is pretty bad on this game. There are none of the gradient changes like the real one although they do have the bump at abbey.

I got the FF to work at a playable level but I still hate the central axis steering. I enjoy some of the aspects of the game and can get into it at times but it is too simple when it needs to be detailed and vice versa. I'm beused about the tracks though, some seem to be done really well and are quite accurate, whereas as others seem slightly rushed and aren't very true to the real one.

Having raced at Albert Park before I can say that they got the track right except for the final 2 turns.

I found a site that looks like it could have been produced for the game but I haven’t dug into deep enough to actually know, here it is, they are links that bring up a footprint of the track as well as where the pit entrance is. I can at least look at my laptop w/ the complete shape of the track as I try to sort out the learning curve.

You think the official F1 website was produced for a game? :boggled:

Two points.

Firstly, Hispania offering me $6,500,000 to stay? The team isn't worth $6,500,000!

Secondly, the penalty system is all askew, it's like GT4's. I clawed my way to victory on a soaking Spa in what was an extremely fun race, but I forgot I'd recieved a 10 second penatly as punishment for being hit from behind by Kobayashi. I ended up fourth. No press conference. Gutted.

They really do need to work on the penalties. That's not surprising though, that is something that will need a lot of tweaking.

Wow you've already done most of the season? Are you doing short weekends with like 20% race?
But 6.5million?! Wow I wouldnt have thought they'd offer you something that high! You must just be awesome xD
Ooh, which teams have you got offers from other than Hispania?

As if bugs weren't enough, PC users are pestered with random performance issues: http://community.codemasters.com/forum/f1-2010-game-1316/428962-bad-performance-pc.html

Seems like the framrates are completely random. Some users are reporting 20 FPS average with insane systems, while others are running 40-50 FPS on a medium system. Switching the settings from max to medium also seems to have a difference of only 10 FPS...

Looks like I'll have to wait to get this game until the bugs and the PC performance issues have been fixed...

I've been doing mostly at 50%, with the occasional 100% thrown in for good measure.

I'm third in the championship (we've just finished Monza, so not long left...) after a late surge. Force India and BMW Sauber are considering me, and I've had offers from HRT, Virgin, Lotus and Toro Rosso.

If Force India don't want me, I'll probably go 'Rosso!

I wish I had more time to play :( You're 3rd?! What settings you on?
I'm glad that if you do well Sauber consider you, I'll be glad to get an offer from them at the end of my 1st season xD

I'm using Hard. It's really not that difficult, and it gets even easier as the season goes on. The upgrades mean my Cosworth HRT will now outpower everything else down the straights. And yet my team-mate (that apparently gets all the upgrades before I do) is still languishing at the back of the field. Ooookay.

Also, Mr Race Engineer, I'm sick of hearing about what Bruno's doing!

'Bruno has just entered the pits'.

'You're quicker than Bruno'

'Bruno is lapping in the mid 1:20s'

'You're quicker than Bruno in all three sectors'.

This can't be good for Bruno's self esteem.

Does your PS3 read other game disc? If so then the 'save' thing to do is to return the f1 disc to the shop. if no other games work, it could be your ps3 bluray drive...

All other discs work. I'm not in a position to return it at the moment so I don't know what to do.

My PS3 won't read the disc, how do I make it read it?

Flowers?

In all seriousness. Check the disc for scratches, etc. Rub it with a clean cloth, microfibre cloths are good. Then try it. No way of forcing it though if the disc is corrupt. Is your PS3 stood up? Might be a dust build up. Try blowing inside the CD slot, not too hard, just enough to dislodge any inevitable dust kicking about.

Join Force India and get all cosy with Liuzzi, eh? :sly:

Ok I love this game. Only started up last night and still just leading up to first Bahrain race but having a great time with it.

Playing with a G25, force feedback is good, it's not iRacing good, but still good enough to be fun. And lets be serious, full sim almost nobody would get the car around the track. It has a good feel to it, I had to tone down the environmental effects because hitting the curbs was beating the hell out of my wheel. (just using a wheel stand pro) There's not a lot of counter steering required for my pace, and I'm playing with a little traction control still on. Spinouts seem to just happen before I know what's going on, but they're not hard to avoid.

Graphics are not bad, shame it's 720p as you can definitely tell, but they're still pretty decent. I notice some framerate issues as well especially in the pits.

Menu system is a plesant place to be, I like the style they used for the game instead of making it some overhyped adrenaline fused theme for younger people.

Most of all it's fun, and very challenging, but its very rewarding when you start to get the hang of it. If you love Formula 1 I think it's a likely enjoyable purchase, at least until GT5 lands. :)

Well the big boys are on Singapore now so I’m going to TT that track and see where I rate, it just sounds so appropriate.

-------------------- QUESTION -----------------------------------

Does anyone know how to turn the Fn ghost off, if i don't go faster every lap the stupid thing blocks my vision

I succumbed to temptation this morning and bought the game... after a bit of a shaky start, I'm starting to enjoy it! It is treacherously hard without traction control on, hence I'll be keeping it on for the time being! I don't think the graphics are anything special, not even much of an improvement on F1:CE, which is rather unfortunate really, but never mind. Enjoying the new tracks (and Spa at last  ) and up to date driver roster though, which is all an F1 game really needs to have.

The traction is hard with a pad, but not with the wheel I found.
Since you ease on the pedals and move the wheel slower, the car usually never gets into a position to oversteer too much

The traction is hard with a pad....

This. I'm not certain w/o a wheel and peddles I'll have the patience to learn to feather the throttle properly with the shoulder triggers. Very frustrating :banghead:.

Ok fair warning I'm about to nitpick here, but WTF is up with the tire temp feedback graphic. So far all I see is green. Green at the starting line. Green going into the pits. Green coming out of the pits. Green in the gravel. Green in the grass. Green, green, always effn green.

What ever happened to blue for cold, green for good, yellow for wearing and red for completely shot... you know like basically every other racing game on the planet that models tire temps/wear? How do they screw this up ? Seriously I just don't get it.

The tyre wear shows up in the damage graphic, not the temperature. Took me a few races to figure that one out too.
