I've finished the Bahrain Career session in a Lotus, I qualified 13th and finished 6th on legendary, which would seem a little unrealistic, but I am using traction control :( in my defense I'm using a controller though.

Do you recall your lap times in Bahrain? What were they?

Starting to get a bit annoyed now. I got ANOTHER puncture in China, and then as a result of me losing control and sliding through a corner, I was then disqualified for corner cutting? erm ok.

Also, I'm lapping 1.5 seconds a lap faster than Kovalainen, and he has a pitstop about 2 seconds quicker than mine, 4 laps after me, and I come out behind him? Please, I was about 13 seconds behind, yet he comes out in front of me after a supposed approx "20 second" from pit start to end? Please, that's just a crock of crap.

The game itself is enjoyable to drive, it's just the bugs/false timing in qualifying/races letting it down.

Tire punctures are a but too frequent but I cant tell if they are random or influenced by going off track or erratic driving, or whatever. But I hear this idea floating around that the AI drives at a steady pace but if your not close enough to see them, they are invisible on the track, or not there. This is why there are no flat out split times...which would be a great help rather than calculating it after every sector or lap...Any thoughts?

You guys are probably accurate but GT5 will put up a fight. Think about the demographics of who all buys CoD games and who is/ would buy GT5. Sony doesnt care bc GT5 is going to sell consoles, CoD wont.

Take it from me, punctures are definitely encouraged by constantly going off-track. Try to ease about a wince or two when cornering so you can stay as close to the inside line as possible. Preferably without having to clip the rumble strip too much.

Good news no doubt, now what will be really interesting is the patch release notes ;).

GREAT TO HEAR!!! I was scared because they never gave Dirt 2 this treatment. Though NOW they are representing FIA and F1 so to have these problems looks pretty bad.

I've done the first race of the season yesterday, all aids off with AI on the second hardest option (professional I think?). Qualifyed in 4th and finished the race in 3rd place (I'm running for Virgin). After that I turned the AI to the hardest settings to see if it gets more realistic. Stopped playing during Q2 in Australia last night and I don't think I'll be able to get into Q3, which is a bit better. Let's see how the race goes.

I'm doing 20% races btw.

Does anybody know how to take the last chicane on Catalunya without spinning out? I feel like i loose a second there...

My mate bought F1 2010 for the Xbox 360 today, and we're about to play it after having played it yesterday on the PS3... it appears to be running at 1080p on the Xbox, but only 720p on the PS3... it looks much better on the Xbox... what's going on with that??

Seriously? That's crap.

It's good to hear about a patch, I don't mind buying a game if they fix it in the end.

I'll admit, I'm hacked off when I get the bugs, but when I don't I enjoy it, and I think with patching it'll be a good game.

DirectX 9.

No, it isn't. Read above.

DirectX 9.
Thanks, but that means absolutely nothing to me! :P What does that mean, that the Xbox can run the game at higher resolution? I'm seriously contemplating sending my PS3 copy back and getting the Xbox version instead, so any more info would be much appreciated!

PS3/Xbox 360 are both 1280x720p native. It'll be upscaled. 360 version does look sharper but it's not 1080p.

Just had a very fun race at China full wet race with legend AI, all aids off. Some AI drivers spinning off and generally everyone tip toeing around the corners. Started 18th and Finished 3rd. Should've got 1st but went a wide and long sometimes.

Well, since F1 2010 is already heavily optimized for the PC and is also optimized for DirectX 9 as well all they really had to do was port it over without compromising anything. The PS3 uses, if I remember correctly, OpenGL and Nvidia cG which as any PC game will show you OpenGL doesn't have the same quality as DirectX does. Also, look at what the 360 supports - DirectX 9. :D

Basically, the moral is since the 360 shares so much in common with a DX9-era PC I'd imagine (I don't know for sure) that the two versions share exactly the same code (All settings on high, with vehicle reflections possibly set to ultra) and the PS3 version which uses OpenGL had to be optimized at a much lower resolution as framerate stutter would most likely have been even more apparent than it is now.

Thanks very much

I have to say, it doesn't just look a bit better on the Xbox... it is FAR better on the Xbox. It looks like a different game, the graphics are better by a country mile. My PS3 copy is going on ebay in the morning.

Oh... another 360 driver 👍. This can only be a good thing for the eventual GTP online meet ups :D.

Well, there's the only drawback of Xbox... you need to sign up for Xbox live to play it online, whereas on the PS3 online is free... but, I only spend a very small % of my gaming time online anyway. So it is a toss-up between online playability and HD graphics... at the moment, the latter wins hands-down, and atleast with the Xbox version, I can always go online when I want/need to...

You're bang on. 360 and PC are very similar, can't think why! The lag on the pit straights is annoying, I'm not finding graphics too bad on my screen. They're clearly not that brilliant, only platform I can get it on, so won't complain too much anyway.

After more playing tonight. The AI seem quicker with race-fuel than in qualifying. I did a 1'59.5 at Bahrain in the Lotus (all maximum difficult, no Aids, etc) in Q2, so just got through to Q3. I was consistently doing high 2'00s. All fun, bit annoyed with how the AI were so aggressive during qualifying, there doesn't seem to be a qualifying/race distinction for aggression. Race started, and I got raped off the line, down to 14th, but gained about 2 places under braking in to T1. The AI were phenomenal I have to say. I was hampered (I reckon anyway) by having to use worn softs, one off moment at the penultimate corner and I lost 3 places down to 18th and then got a puncture on the next lap. Race ruined, as I ended up having to give way in blue flags, and just had no hope of recovering from 24th. Ended up rage quiting, not sure why I chose 100% distance, I don't have those kind of concentration skills.

The difference in lap times during the race was stupid. From the HRTs doing 2'05s in qualifying, they were doing 2'00/01 with race fuel on board. I could really feel the difference with race fuel, which I quite like. Clearly a major flaw there though.

I still think it's fun, patience is needed of course and I definitely think a patch could and indeed should make the game a lot better than it is.

The AI racecraft was very good, really is up there with anything I've ever seen in a racing game. Frustrating in many ways though, least not because I see a game with bundles of potential.

Ah yes, I did indeed jump to a Gold conclusion ;).

Edit...
Not completely fair I understand, but still reasonably snarky humor:

I really dont understand why a powerhouse company like Cm dumbs their games to 720, and does a piss-poor job on their PS3 releases. The quality is lacking

Just so you guys know, as far as I know the X360 upscales games but the PS3 does not. That's why the game runs at 1080p on the X360, it will scale the game to the resolution you have set. On the PS3 your display will have to upscale the game to 1080p.

I would imagine the 360 is better than most displays at upscaling as well.

Hey no matter what the resolution they are already thinking about the first patch, but these bigs never should be here in the first place.

How do I force the game to use hardware acceleration for the audio instead of the unbelievably laggy Rapture3D and software options? I have no hardware option in the audio menu, and uninstalling Rapture and reinstalling OpenAL merely left me with a software option and nothing else... you're off to a great start, Codemasters. First the "custom wheel mappings don't let you use the wheel's d-pad in the menu" thing, now the laggy audio which I can't fix...

This. Both of these annoy me.

Oh wow. It gets even better. I alt-tabbed to the desktop so I could open the Logitech profiler and set my G27 to 180 degrees for F1 2010. Alt-tab put the game into windowed mode, and I can't get it back into fullscreen. (edit: alt+enter did the trick. But why on earth would you make the game go windowed on alt+tab?! Just make the application minimize you useless CM idiots)

This game is rapidly becoming a joke, and I haven't even completed a flying lap yet...
