For the rain, I'm running abs and medium tcs. I originally switched to the 2nd to last wet setting once it started. The forecast for my race says there will be heavy rain in Q1 &Q2 so I will have it to the next Wet quick setting.

Try lowering your brake pressure too.

Anyone know what song plays when you speed up time as your sitting in the garage during a session?
Its got the lyrics, 'just stay where you are' and a guy's voice in it, sorry if thats none too descriptive that's all I can put down (even though the songs in my head at the moment lol).
As far as I've seen, the song that plays is whatever's being played in the background.

I think I've heard 2-3 different ones now when I've sped up the session.

Try lowering your brake pressure too.
Will do that next time. :)

I'm thinking about getting this game and since I recently bought the Logitech G27, I was wondering have any of you played this game with it? If so, how well does it work?

Seeing as it's related to the G25, mine works pretty well, so I imagine the G27 does the same. FFB needs to be turned up though in the game. It's extremely weak after coming from GTR2.

Thanks very much

I have to say, it doesn't just look a bit better on the Xbox... it is FAR better on the Xbox. It looks like a different game, the graphics are better by a country mile. My PS3 copy is going on ebay in the morning.

This will always be something that both confuses the hell out of me and pisses me off. If anyone has any doubts about what the PS3 is capable of visually, just look at the forthcoming GT5, God Of War III, Killzone 2, Uncharted 2......the list goes on. Yet what do all these games have in common? They are all PS3 exclusives, written for the machine from the ground up.

Ive said it before and I will say it again, any shortcomings in the PS3 version's visuals when compared to the 360 and PC is simply due to lazyiness on the part of the developer. The PS3 may not be able to to what the PC can, but it sure as hell can do what the 360 can, and probably with a bit more effort be actually better.

Interesting video that one with the 4 cars driving the Turkey track.

In the endo of it theres a comparison between those laps times vs real life 2010 qualifying times. Theres a consistency in the in-game being faster than IRL but what's most interesting is that the difference between those 4 cars in-game is almost exactly the same as in real life.

Anyways, I was practicing at Melbourne on Legendary and the AI was posting up times in the dry 1st being at 1'28.xxx, my teammate (Trulli) posting a 1'31.xxx and I was posting a 1'32.5xx.

I was playing at Melbourne with expert yesterday and AI posted basically the same times you mentioned. In dry at least. In wet practice the times were 1:40 when it was starting to dry a little.

So my question is - is there a difference between expert and legend AI?

Tried some online last night with friends, it was pretty cool. The qualify is bugged though, I got pole with a 1:13 in Melbourne, when in reality my laps were around 1:30. This happened in Spa too, at first people thought I was cheating.

I also noticed the cars don't sound all the same, the Williams sounds a lot different from Virgin and Ferrari, and it even has a shorter gear ratio by default too I think.

Wait, what?

You're asking for your question to not be confused with penalties but you're asking if it's possible to get an unlimited amount of warnings without any sufficient penalty? Does. Not. Compute. :P

While you clear that up, no, you can't go through an entire race weekend getting nothing but warning after warning without any serious repercussions. If you repeatedly cut corners that will result in an invalidated lap. If you repeatedly cause collisions (whether it's your fault or not) you'll either get a drive through penalty (only during a race event), or a 5 place grid penalty (only during qualifying). Should you choose to ignore your drive through the AI will take control of your vehicle and you'll be disqualified. Take it from me, should you ever get a drive-through penalty, pit on the same lap it was issued.

Don't attempt to use any kind of strategic gain from it because apparently in it's current form the game frowns upon such things. :grumpy:

lol what I meant is that people shouldn't confuse warnings with penalties but I see how it could be misunderstood. :ouch:

Well, I did a 100% lenght race on Monza yesterday. I managed to cut three corners during the race before I received a drive through penalty. So in that respect, the warning system does seem to work. However, sometimes I can receive repeated warnings when I bump lightly into the AI without receiving a pentalty for it in the end. In my last race I got five collision warnings but no penalty. It seems to me that a collision penalty is only given when the collision impact is really hard while minor collisions just give repeated warnings without penalties. Maybe I just need to do it five-ten times before I receive a penalty but that would not make sense.

I may have misunderstood the F1 rules but I also wonder why the game hasn't included warnings when blocking overtaking cars. I don't refer to blue flag but isn't there a rule which says the overtaking cars should be allowed to overtake if they have the speed to do so?

Not quite, the rule is that you can only "block" once on a straight. So repeatedly swerving with someone a car length behind you isn't allowed.

Is this rule included in F1 2010? I haven't been able to provoke a warning or penalty yet.

It is in the game. I have gotten many b.s. warnings for illegal blocking when in reality I was just driving in a straight line. The A.I., even if it is way faster will slow down to get behind you and thats how I got warnings and penalties.

I made the mistake of posting my observations/experience of F1 2010 on Amazon, and so far I have been told to get my facts right and have also been accused of being a troll, apparently because I own both the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game, which infact I don't... I've merely played both.

I know that the Xbox version upscales to 1080p where the PS3 version doesn't, and thanks to Terronium-12, I have some understanding as to why that is. However, I would still say that the Xbox version "runs in 1080p", since a) it says "720p/1080i/1080p" on the back of the box, and b) my TV says its in 1080p mode when I'm playing the Xbox version. I was under the impression, however, that despite the upscaling, the Xbox version wouldn't look much different to the PS3 version, but it does. Even the colours are more vibrant/less washed out on the Xbox, esp. in the menu screens.

Anyway, I'm still to decide whether to flog my PS3 version and swap for the Xbox version, which will probably mean taking a slight hit - but at the moment, I'm still very much in favour of the idea.

Can someone explain to me...when you SAVE a custom setup....can you LOAD that same setup to any car on any track....or does it SAVE to that Car only on that track that you SAVE it to ? Finding myself wanting to use the same SAVE setup on different cars, but have to manual use the set-up menu

And what is the best way to keep your SAVE setup....organize

Thankx

You get 5 setup save slots per track. Not per car per track, only per track. So for any track you can load that setup to any car. However let's say you want to use your Bahrain setup and 3 other tracks, then you will have to manually input and save that same setup for those tracks. The game won't help you copy a setup for one track to another.

Got a 5 Grid penalty at Shanghai for apparently not watching for traffic. Was trying to come back from a spin & drove to get off the racing line, but apparently, a Renault decided that he was already in "Dodge Mode" & drove into me instead of staying the line. :irked:

Try clicking on expert and scroll down, see what the AI Difficulty is set to (Professional or Legend). I think my game set Legend AI in expert difficulty automatically but it seems not everyone's does ...

Maybe it only changes the way they act in a race? Or race and qualifying?

That's weird, I drive like a total jerk and never get warnings. I swerve down the whole straight blocking cars and trying to push them off the track (a la Schumacher). I do get illegal blocking when I spin and wait to let the traffic pass me though ...

From the box I am inclined that it may be 1080p native but it's weird that they would offer it for X360 and not for PS3. Then again, console publishers have not been entirely truthful about their game resolutions.

For B, any game you put in the console will display 1080p no? It is my understanding that the X360 scales all games to whatever output resolution you have set, meaning that even if F1 2010 is made in 720p the X360 will upscale it to 1080p. The reason your TV shows 1080p even though it is upscaled is because the X360 is upscaling it and then sending it to the display at 1080p. This won't provide a huge visual increase since in the end it is always 1080p because for your PS3 the TV upscales it and for the X360 the console upscales it but the upscaler is probably better in the X360 than any display's upscaler.

Amazon, well you were just trying to let people know how it is, if they don't appreciate it then screw 'em. I'm sure you have helped a few people make their decision on which version to get easier so forget the haters.

For my Melbourne on Legend AI, I finished 3rd :grumpy:. I don't think Hamilton pitted so I should have had 2nd behind Alonso, I could not keep him at bay.

I am considering getting this game, I think I can live with most of the bugs that have been mentioned ( hopefully most/all of them can be patched) but what I find infuriating is the fact that if I buy it I will be getting short changed in the graphics department simply because I have a ps3.

I would be pretty annoyed sitting on my ps3, a console that cost me a lot more than an Xbox would have and to my knowledge is supposed to be a superior console ( please note Im not a fanboy I have no problem with the Xbox ) knowing that Im getting short changed.

From what I understand from reading this thread its down to the game devs not making it properly for my console ( please correct me on this if Im wrong )

If they cant be bothered why should I be bothered to give them my money ?

EDIT: the above post could be the answer, but Im still confused as Touring Mars says it definately looks much better on the Xbox.

The first thing I should say is that, even in 720p, it's a very good game... atleast as good as F1:CE, which was also in 720p, and that was well worth the money...

My only point is that, if you have both consoles, you might want to consider buying the Xbox version because it has superior graphics... but, the PS3 allows you to play online for free, whereas the Xbox doesn't - you need to pay for Xbox Live Gold membership for that luxury. Since I don't have Gold membership, I'm basically going to have to decide between online play (PS3) or better graphics (Xbox). Since I don't play F1 online much, I'm currently swaying towards the Xbox version...

...but, it is by no means a waste of money on the PS3. If I didn't own an Xbox (which I got as a present), I'd be more than happy with the PS3 version.

You wouldn't be getting short changed at all, it's just for lack of a better excuse it's been optimized (primarily) for only one graphic coding language, and that's DirectX. Seeing as two out of three consoles F1 2010 is being released share pretty much the same ID as far as that language is concerned, I'd imagine that took priority. Had CM took the time to optimize it for the PS3 as well (which uses a variation of OpenGL) you would not have seen it this month, or, perhaps it is optimized and the bugs/glitches are eating away at the performance. If it helps, think of it like this: Had Crysis been released on the PS3 and 360 a few months after it's initial release both (read: both) of the consoles would have to be optimized in either one of two resolutions: 1280x720 or 1440x1080. Notice only one is a native HD resolution, whereas the other has the vertical resolution of 1080p but not the horizontal resolution.

Why?

Simple. Crysis would have crippled both the 360 and PS3 at full 1080p as it did the exact same thing to PCs (no matter the hardware) because, well, CryEngine2 was a greedy little SOB.

I went with the PS version, primarily because of my G27. It beats my microsoft wheel hands down. Good wheel for the price though.

All things being equal I would have liked the Xbox version purely because I have a more healthy friends list.

It's annoying when you spin and you want to just keep still until the pack goes past but then you hold the brake button too long and BAM you've hit someone...

I hate Catalunya. The AI is just kicking my ass in practice. Where are they gaining these seconds?

It's a bug I think, the AI's pace is so ridiculously fast that it's inconsistent compared to the first four races where the AI are laughably slow. It needs to be somewhere in between.

I'm still enjoying the game...and I'm still yet to have anyone from here add me, who had claimed on the PS3 version the game is too easy ;)

I've been outclassed online, twice...and I struggle go finish in the top 20!

Still has bugs, still has imperfections, but enjoying it as said. The sense of speed and "on the edge" is great...too wide, it punishes you, cut the corners, it punishes you, punt a car, it punishes you...brake too late, downshift too fast, get on the throttle to soon, it punishes you. Get it right, it's rewarding!

I'm qualifying 12th at Istanbul in the HRT, Legend AI no aids. I get up to 9th leaving Senna for dead in the race and I pit with Kubica and we both go through a time bubble and finish 18th/19th . Tried pitting early and late but to no avail.
