The pitting issue is known to occur at 20% race distance. Anything over it with a strategy a lap earlier or later than the one that is being given to you will resolve the issue.
I have just been on the receiving end of this issue, twice. Still, in both cases it made for a pretty decent race, but it could get annoying very quickly...

I can only assume from this response that you haven't played the career mode.

You CAN NOT avoid the AI not pitting, you come in for your mandatory pit stop, the majority of the AI don't. Result- you are left at the back of the field every time.

Please explain to me what you can do to avoid this.

You aren't left at the back of the pack every time. That's just a flat out lie. I usually drop between 1 and 5 positions when I pit and I'm half done my first season. Made several podiums so far.

To say "the majority of the AI don't pit" and "you'll always be left at the back" is false and misleading, knock it off. Have you even played career mode, honestly?

edit: playing on Hard and usually 40-50% race distance.

So your calling me a liar, very good

Unfortunately you are not as clever as you think, you buried yourself in your first paragraph by saying "Made several podiums so far", this tells me immediately that you are not playing on the settings I mentioned that were an important factor in my previous posts.

So why don't you knock it off and read a thread properly before coming in all guns blazing.

Your post on page 83 indicates you're still pitting on the default lap which is a whole problem in itself. You're right, I'm not going back and reading 88 pages worth of a thread. I don't have that much free time.

I was responding to the words of your post. It doesn't take much to qualify your experience as I have by posting my settings at the bottom of my post up above. The words I responded to read like a blanket statement applying to the entire game. In that case, they would not be true.

How much time do you expect people to invest in qualifying your statements for you according to everything you've said before?

As Sureboss said, only 1 or 2 ever don't pit and its not common, or at least from what I've seen so far.
Your issue was more with falling down lots of places due to pitting and being held, which is a different issue. Just pit early or later, simple solution. Your mandatory pit stop can be made at any time and you don't have to come in when they tell you to. Hell, if you want you can go the full race on option tyres and then pit on the last lap.
Or you can start the race on prime tyres.

Guys, guys, guys!

Check out this link. The engineer's comments in the game are so stupid and obvious that he now has received his own thread and what seems to be a starting meme amongst the game fans:

http://community.codemasters.com/fo...-can-i-hire-new-engineer-not-use-one-all.html

He is very annoying indeed.

Half the time his "information" is completely useless or not even close to being right. For instance I spun, there was obviously a yellow, the engineer goes on to say "caution somewhere on the track".

If it weren't for the fact I was the caution what good does "somewhere" do me?

Yeah, today the engineer has started to annoy me a bit with his mis-information. I did find it very confusing to be told Button is 5 seconds ahead of me when he was only 1 second ahead according to the split times.

Of course, who hasn't noticed his obsession with Ferrari? Or his ability to incorrectly predict pit stops..."Our data shows Sutil should pit this lap"...

Definitely the funniest and dumbest moments are when he tells you "fantastic overtake!" when you overtake people in the pit or who have spun...

So much for the race engineer route being better than CE's TV commentary style.

Yeah h's horrible. For ex. when he says driver "x should be in in the next 3 laps". 3 laps go by and hes says "x should be pitting in the next 5 laps." Thats helpful...

I tihnk i'm more apalled at how people complain about him "He's mentally unfit to be in this game" "He's retardedness and stupidness". No one realize that he's an AI, and everything he says is scripted and not under his control? Because he's an AI?

New meme is hilarious though.

YAY!!!!!! I think I MAY break the game.

Running a great!! race. in 6th with 6 laps to go on melbourne on 50% (29 laps), gaining on Messa.....................BAM!!!PSHHHHHHHH "It looks like you've picked up a puncture, nurse it in best you can" Im 🤬 🤬 so I go in the pits, JUST so happens EVERYONE ELSE IS!!!! (except the leaders of coarse) so I go into the pits in 7th.... I COME OUT IN LAST!!!!! 5 SECS BEHIND 23rd!!!!!!! WITH NOW 5 LAPS TO GO!!!!!!! Seriously this game is absolute garbage!

I thought I would never use the rewind function until the puncture issue started to really get to me (getting two punctures in a row leaving pit lane on brand new tyres is a bit much). I now use it only for this and it has made the game more enjoyable.

Apart from the other bugs I actually quite enjoy this game. One can only hope that Codemasters release the patch (working properly) soon. In my opinion there is a good game in there just crying to get out.

I could not agree with you more! Because the game is amazing, once it's fixed. My girlfriend is even mad at the game for failing so hard lol she watches me play lol I want nothing more than to "live the life" but it pretty much can not be done. Your lucky to have the rewind feature work out puncture, if I do it, I still get it. I also find the AI to be a little TOO aggressive sometimes. Like WE as the human have to slam break on certain turns we are for sure faster at, yet they cant yield a little bit? ugh.

So glad Spa is in there, easily the best racetrack in the world. Now all we need is the original exhilirating Hockenheim course. I miss that long straight with the forest on both sides!

How many races have you done in your career ?

I am astonished that you have not been held up in the pits, are you avoiding pitting when the team suggests ?

I was doing 20% races not 50, also you mention being in 6th place at the start of the weekend, do you mean qualifying, what track was that because that sounds pretty high up the order for the settings I mentioned, Im guessing it could be Bahrain, thats only race that I didn't have a problem with

3 in this one, had done about 7 in another one.

I was up to 6th/7th throughout all Practice at Bahrain, qualified 10th and then had a awful race. Quick at Malaysia too.

I always change my strategy pre-race.

"You have some gravel on your tires" - Really, I couldn't figure that out since I went off the track.

"You're losing a lot of time in sector 2" - No !!! 🤬 That's where I went off.

During practice, I'm in P1 and my team mate is P20. I started testing the car on a full fuel load. "Alright guys, let's get the fuel in the car" I just completed my first lap. "Jarno is putting some fast laps. You should come in and copy his setup" - Time to lower the speech sound to the minimum!

Some say that a program is as smart as the programmer that made it. So with that logic, what does that say about the person(s) at CM that programmed the engineer

from the CM forums ,hilarious.Any way I will get the game today but reading the comments here I am starting to think I made a mistake.

Don't let the bugs put you off... the game is pretty flexible and you can make it as challenging as you want to. Even with the bugs, it's still a load of fun. That said, I was a bit miffed when I got my first puncture, just one lap after changing my tyres :ouch: Silly question here, but do you still get punctures if you have damage off?

The CM forums are so horrible. I don't know what's worse, the bugs in F1 2010, or the way they all rage and kill themselves over it all. So many threads relating to the same thing, about bugs, and there's a bugs list sticky at the top. It's appalling.

in monaco the race starts, i had good start overtook 3cars. brking for the first corner PSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSt. happens alot.... China wet conditions last 3 laps PSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSt. Drriveout PPPPPPSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSt. made one mistake cutted the corner PSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSttttttttttt. You dont have to go as far back as page 83 to see the posts I was referring to.

As Sureboss said, only 1 or 2 ever don't pit and its not common, or at least from what I've seen so far.

Or you can start the race on prime tyres.

My main issue wasn't with getting held too long in the pits.

3 in this one, had done about 7 in another one.

I was up to 6th/7th throughout all Practice at Bahrain, qualified 10th and then had a awful race. Quick at Malaysia too.

I always change my strategy pre-race.

Fair enough Sureboss, I can only guess that changing your strategy pre-race or the 50% race distance you run made the difference for you.

Since the bugs are too frustrating, I'm steering clear of career for the time being.

I won my first two races today in Grand Prix mode: Monza and Abu Dhabi, They were only three laps, and I probably killed several drivers but nonetheless a win is a win!

Interlagos is especially good for crashes. If someone tries to pass you on the start/finish straight, give them a nudge into the pit wall and they will go flying, Did it on the last lap and Rosberg finished in mid air!
