F1 2011 WishlistF1 2010-2016

I must be the only person in the world who never gets punctures. Unless I crash across every kerb and try to get one.
Just lucky I guess

I do like to ride the kerbs a lot. Don't think it has anything to do with that though. If it was really down to driving style, then surely if you used a flashback to go back to before the puncture occured, you would still be at risk of a puncture.

It seems too random. Got a puncture in my second lap in fp1 in bahrain in career mode when I first got the game, and I was going really easy then, trying to ease myself into the game.

most obvious item for the wishlist is a game that gets released without the bugs that plagued F1 2010. That's a given. There's no need to state it again.

Over to you.
I've said on some other thread that the game needs to have a travel feature where you can check out the diff cities, since F1 is such a global sport and all. Interacting with your teamate would be nice, and copying setups! How many times does the engineer say to you "we should copy his setup" when you cant do it!?

Often times the agent, engineer will say the same thing to you over and over, getting repetitive.
"We had a great result in the Last race, it would be nice to see another podium finish," There needs to be more words and diff ways of phrasing things to make it seem less monotonous. This has been an issue from day one of Nascar games. The crew chief saying the same thing to you again and again.

I know its alot of work but there really should be safety cars in the game, and maybe there should be a feature where you can drive the safety car? That would be cool.

Drivers should be able to get injured in heavy crashes. Not killed obviously, but every once in a while somebody does get hurt and the 2nd string driver has to come in. You should be able to get injured if you crash hard enough.

The damage modeling should be like the new Nascar 2011 game, where they meticulously went through and simulated what would happen in a 400 mph combined speed head on collision (they did that!!!).

When you leave back into the paddock, the same setting (camper van, gates, same reporters ever time) gets old fast. You should be able to step out of that setting and explore some of the circuit on foot. I know thats hard (like the safety cars) but its do-able if done in a limited fashion.

It's really annoying and tediously obscure, but I'd like the driver's stats to change when viewing them in Career mode.

And I'm in the same boat as alot of the other posts; historic tracks/cars, generall year-on-year improvment et cetera.

Something a bit silly; if they do put in commentary this year, it has to be the same scripts from Formula 1 97 but updated. You cannot beat the commentary on that game. (Or that game, for that fact, I still play it game on a regular basis) Hearing Murray tell me that Rubens Barrichello is an 'up and coming young star', then explaining how ''One thing to notice is that both Williams and Jordan, two of the great innovators in recent years, have decided to go with oval airboxes this year. It'll be interesting to see what difference this makes'' and then Martin chipping in with his famous "You're right there, Murray" ..I could do a whole article on the appreciation of F197 if there isn't one already.

Anyway, back on topic. Definitely need mechanical failures, player and AI, and maybe some slight improvements on damage; continuously mounting kerbs can damage the front wing ala F1-06.

I have only played F1 2010 the week after GT5 released up until the 1.05 update. Within that time, I've had a blast first off. The only thing that has pissed me off is the holding in the pits and the A.I. causing me penalty seconds. I have gotten tire punctures only in practice or qualifying. It hasn't happened to me in a race. So I am good there.

Over all, this game is great. I am glad I bought it. It took up the slack that GT5 doesn't give me.

This too.

So many times I have gone in to the pits at the same time as lots of other drivers and, as my pit box is the furthest forward, my lollipop man waits for everyone else to go before he releases me! I've gone from 1st to 10th or 15th in some cases.

Well what I want is a better engineer because honestly they should speak much more with me during the race or maybe it's just my poor Russian engineer is speechless.

Codemasters were keen for F12010 to be "family friendly", so I doubt you'll be seeing this in any of their F1 games.

I decided to revisit this thread as I have just remembered something that "grinds my gears" in F12010. The pit limiter signs in game do not always correspond to the actual "pit limit area" in game. Sometimes, you can apply the limit as per the signs and get penalised for being too late or you might just be too early. It can be annoying sometimes. There is obviously a preprogrammed area at every track where you have to obey the speed limit... Just make the signs match the area.

To be honest, all they would have to do is improve on everything in F1 2010 and it will be a fantastic game. Although I would like a couple of things:

AI improvement: Generally it's not too bad but drivers can be a bit erratic when you are close to them.

Safety car: This would add another element to race strategy if done well. I have always wanted this in a game.

No Race Restart: It sounds weird, but I wish I couldn't restart races in career mode because given the ability to, I always will. I would rather not, but just knowing its there allows me to take more risks which I otherwise wouldn't

Cars: Obviously the 2011 cars, but make sure all the new technology is taken into consideration. For example, we should be able to activate KERS and the adjustable rear wing, as well as be able to have input towards the development path.

Live The Life: While I don't want this to take over from the actual gameplay, I hope they do it well. I don't want Codemasters to get too caught up in it, but maybe confrontation or advice from other drivers would be cool as it would make you feel like you are actually a part of the season.

Season: All of the official races as before, but also test days would be nice. And possibly the ability to start out as a test driver as in F1CE and compete in the odd race throughout the season so that you have to earn a race seat

Probably about time for someone to create an "official" 2011 thread. Here's the latest courtesy of vg247.com:

F1 2011 info to drop prior to Melbourne season opener

Codemasters has confirmed to VG247 it’ll start dropping info on F1 2011 near the end of this month.

The news follows a report last night by a Dutch journalist on Twitter that 3DS and NGP versions of this year’s iteration were in development alongside PS3 and 360. His tweet was picked up by Codemasters Benelux and retweeted.

This morning, Codies has told us that it’ll start confirming details for the 2011 version “prior” to the Australian Grand Prix on the weekend of March 24 in Melbourne.

“We’re locking everything into place right now and will drop the info bomb on FORMULA ONE in 2011 immediately prior to the season start in Melbourne, confirming the full format line up, release date and headline features,” the publisher told VG247 in an email.

“We’ll also be inviting players to ask the dev team anything, which may lead to being featured in future dev diary videos, and offering some the chance to get in-studio and have early hands-on during development.”

F1 2010 released last September for PS3, 360 and PC. It was the first number one title for the sport since Sony held the rights with Foruma One 2001.

I'd love the possibility to upgrade the 2010 game to 2011 via digital download. Same goes with SBK X actually and every other title they are releasing yearly basis.

I know it's trivial but I would like better colour schemed helmet designs rather than flags!!
And sort out the punctures PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay much of what I say will already have been said but I will say it again anyhow:

What's wrong with CodeMasters F1 2010.

Major Problems
  • Poor Tyre Temperture: I know (As well as many others do.) that they didn't do a good job on tyre temp's. This I can prove because I did three laps around Montreal in heavy rain at no more then 60mph on options and when I got bored of waiting for them to change to blue i went to the pits.

  • Punture Problems This has only ever affected me once at Montreal in the gravel trap at the hairpin. In a quick race. But it is a problem to others so it is there fore a problem.

  • Online Problems I have only ever played this online once (Coincidently again at Montreal and the room crashed :( ) because most of my friends on PSN only play CoD: BO or GT5. But as far as I know you can't go to the track until more people come and join the room. And I have also heard that you hae to wait aprox. 30 secs until anything becomes interactive which can only be described as a pain in the ass.

  • Pit-Stop Problems Now this is a major problem as there very slow (Held up by traffic or not). Any time I go for a pit-stop there normally very slow. averaging 5-6 secs even sometimes up to 7-8 where as in actual F1 there normally 3.5 - 4.5 secs. The best pit-stop I have ever had was 3.8 secs which was perfect (Unbelievably not in Montreal.). Then theres the pit-stop traffic which is another huge problem, especially when you only have a 2 sec lead from first and decided to pit during the pit window. The longest pit-stop I have endured was roughly 16 secs which is just BS.

Minor Problems
  • Crash damage which I find terribly inconstant for example in Montreal (Yes! Again coincidently) you could drive diagonally into a wall at 100-120 mph at turns 3 - 4 and the worst that will happen is a punture where as in Monoco you can fly round casino but even scrape the inside wall and your car is 🤬. That's very annoying.
  • And for me I find when changing from intermediate to dry tyres it's very hard to gauge by looking in front of the car but easy to notice when looking backwards due to lack of tyre spray.
  • Also I find it very annoying that the garage mechanics all being the same and your race engineer having the same voice no matter what team you race for.

Their the only annoying problems that I can find for now. Then theres the things I want from F1 2011.

    What I want from F1 2011
  • I personally would love OPTIONAL commentary from the BBC commentary crew Martin Brudle and that other guy :ouch: :dopey:.
  • Now personally I think this would be a very important and fun aspect to the games. Part 1, 2 & 3 would be carried over from F1: CE.

Part 1: Unlockable cars from time trials from F1: CE and amounting career (New) wins such as older car like Arton Senna's Championship winning 1992 Mercedes or maybe some GP2 or Formula 2000 cars.

Part 2: Unlockable tracks like on F1: CE where there was a unlockable track called ... or even maybe tracks that are purchasable from certain levels.

Part 3: A trophie/career management room where you can see your trophies for certain tracks.

  • Another thing I would love is a optional safety car because it would make it slightly more risky if your in the lead and speed past either safety car line 1 or 2.
  • I would love to see optional cool down laps at the end of a race when you have to pick up the rubber balls to add weight to the car.
  • Another thing that would make the game more realistic would be parade laps where you have to heat to your tyres and brakes before the race but this would only be useful if they improve the tyre temperture.

That's all I can think of for now, might add more if I can think of more!

My only complaints are the 2-3 second frame rate drop per race at the most crucial points on a track. Also let me out the pits. Everyone else enters the traffic on pit row, why can't I.

- Better FFB (much better)
- Better physics (along with force feedback so that we can actually correct oversteer instead of always going into a spin)
- Faster shift speeds (upshift but specially downshift) the Devs said in the codemasters forums they allready fixed this
- More competitive AI and consistent around dferent tracks (without rubberbanding) on the higher levels
- Turn on Fuel sim for the AI
- Simulate Practice, Qualy, and race for the AI instead of scriping it and allow us to watch any car on the replays
- Allow more DNF and engine failure (like in F1 CE - you could see the smoke coming out of the car)
- Fix Monaco and the invisible walls (such a pretty and at the same time glitchy track its a shame)
- Telemetry and all sector times available

I think that covers most of the bigger things I thought where wrong with the game - if they fix this IMO they have a winner

What would be nice is to start a career with our own brand and team (that would need a livery editor) but not a deal breaker

^ Some good points there. Overall, if they tidy up all of the little issues from F1 2010 and don't try and overdo it, F1 2011 will be awesome.

I really like the idea of starting your own team too 👍

They just need to clean up some things. For being their first outing, F1 2010 is great.

I don't get why exeryone comments on the FFB. Are you playing the console or PC version?

I'll agree it seems a little weak on the Xbox 360 version, but when I play the PC version I just picked up last night with either my wheel or a 360 controller, I can feel almost everything.

Perhaps they nerfed the console versions FFB.

Come to think of it, you're right. Thinking back when I was playing the 360 version of any Codemasters game (Dirt, GRID, F1) the FFB never really felt alive. Oddly enough, all three of those on the PC (wheel or 360 controller) have very strong/alive FFB.

If you have a good PC I'd recommend F1 2010 for PC. Steam is having a 50% off sale this weekend for it.

Dirt 2 on PS3 is fine for FFB.

For me F1 2010 was a very good first effort, that said it has some key areas to improve for 2011. I'd say a priority list would be:

  • Better FFB
  • Improvement of low speed dynamics
  • More consistent AI speed. Their speed at Barcelona for example.
  • Better realism of tracks, most notably at Monaco. FPS at tracks must also be improved.
  • Telemetry and sector times, recording of your best possible lap would be nice too.

Be interesting to see what they do with 2011.

Apparently here is the box art... and it is meh.

The 360 neon lime green clashes pretty hard with the art, but then again it is such a horrible color choice it clashes with just about all box art.
