F1 2015!F1 2010-2016

A lot of the reviews seem to be negative because of the lack of content.
Missing stuff such as classic tracks/cars, scenarios, YDT, etc, can be excused, but missing basic features that have been in previous games such as being able to choose any combination of qualifying/race length & being able to setup custom championships offline is a big disappointment imo.
I'll probably pick up a cheap used copy at some point since I'm a big F1 fan but so far it doesn't seem to be worth full price.

Yeah, and there should also be force feedback for gears chages. I also think the T cam needs to be about a foot further back. Very small things but if they were to patch this stuff it would improve the game massively. With the lack of game modes it feels like a demo.

I do quite like the handling though, the oversteer out of corners seems to be on the money.

Agreed. New engine or not (I'm inclined to believe the later at this stage becasue it looks so similar to the previous games), the omissions and school boy errors in the game are bewildering, really. It's a shame because the handling and racing looks pretty good. I want to pick it up now but I think I'll wait until it drops in price. I'm torn though.

Agree about the T cam, and I think the cockpit cam needs to be a little bit closer. I like the look of the offset T cam though.

What ? What are you talking about, you can do all of this dude plus FP length ! Just checked it, I had a doubt for the offline championships.

And talking about penalties, there's a serious issue with black flag, whenever you do 5m in the wrong way you're instantly black flagged with no count down. It happen twice to me already when I was just trying to recover from a spin.
So the pen system is completely off right if it doesn't count some corner cut but DSQ you for no reason.

And that's what matters most. What if they had kept all the features and even added new ones, but the engine remained the same?
Would that have really been as good as this?

That's a good point.
Features are bound to return next year when they're fully up on their feet with current gen. Something else to remember is the big staff cutbacks at codies, and this is their first current gen game.

The engine looks very similar to me going by videos. Good though they have improved it a bit. Might buy this game although I haven't played F1 2014 yet as already got so many racing games to play  so might be a while before I get this one.

Do you mean in terms of physics?

Of course, but is it really though? It looks good in videos but I really haven't heard nor seen anyone raving about the quality of the racing. Even the chaps here who are hard for it.

Turn 3 at Sepang in the cockpit view is so weird. It looks like a severe drop in frame rate but i think it is just the shaking of the helmet that they have added?

edit: to be honest, i think it does this in all high speed turns.

It is in terms of racing sensations.

I just finished a 50% race there and didn't experience this (I used T cam though). But I had similar FPS drop at Melbourne when looking back. Seems the game needs to be a bit more optimized.

Are you sure? There are some threads in the official CM forums of people complaining that they cannot choose any combination of quali/race length like in previous games. Something like full qualifying only being available in 100% races, 50% races having only short qualifying, and shorter race distances being locked to OSQ only.

Is it possible to choose any combination of qualifying/race length in all modes? Or are quali/race length options different for quick race and championship modes? Also, can we use custom setups in OSQ or is it quick setups only?

Yes, I'm sure, you (or they) are confusing with the Championship Season mode where the races are bit "staged" to be like TV coverage. And yes it's a bit annoying you can't change separately in this mode. ProSeason has no settings at all but that's the point of this feature.

But other than that you can do a full season championship with FP, Q and race length you want in quick race mode, exactly like before.
Didn't try OSQ but I guess it's like in previous games so no custom setups.

Players- have you encountered any bugs?
No, but I'm surprised by the number of racing incidents AI has.
After each 25 or 50% race in the race director there's a dozen of contact warnings, illegal blocking pens and so on. Don't know if the AI is bugged or just behaving weird

Thanks for the info.

Is it me or does the weekend weather forecast disappeared ? How am I supposed to set up the car on Friday/Saturday morning if I don't know how will be the race on Sunday ?

Can someone tell the ideal time to change gear? seems like a dumb question but on the steering wheel, all the lights light up when you start to hit the red line, however, the engine has a lot more to give as you go into the red line, the steering suggests to change gear too early imo, but i don't want to blow an engine (if that's possible).

The ideal is when the blue lights are on, there's not necessary more power at higher RPM. Moreover in real life it is the case to maximize power and still comply with the fuel flow limit.
In game if you hit the red zone too often the engine overheats, I don't know what are the consequences though (loss of power ? retirement ?)

okay thanks, man, i'll start doing that then.

On another note, my god the Mclaren is slow. i remember people saying "I bet they make it quicker than it is in real life". Well they haven't , I am racing against my ghost (Williams) and on the straights it disappears haha.

Listen to the engine, just like IRL. Like David said the blue lights is about right and where the max torque is at. Don't go higher.

I've had a chance to play now, I see what everyone means. Seems very similar to previous games.

The weather not being displayed is really annoying though, unless there is some way to see it.

I also noticed slow down on the rear view camera as well as on T2 and 3 at Malaysia.

Sorry but I don't get this part. What do people expect, a card game ?
I'm relatively new to Codies F1 games, I've only played a significant amount of time on 2013 and 2014. From what I've heard 2013 is a copy/paste of 2012 which is more or less a copy/paste of 2011...
F1 2015 is the biggest overhaul since 2013 and therefore since 2012 at least... Yeah there's less content and you can be upset about that no matter what is their excuse but you can't say it's exactly the same game as last year.

I'll be the first in line to shoot down the game if enhanced career mode, SC and maybe new features aren't back next year.

I have a question for anyone with a T300RS and the PS4 version of the game. Do the cars understeer like crazy like they did in 2012 and 2013? I haven't played 14 or 11 but I didn't like how the modern cars understeered so much in 2012 and 13. In 2010 the cars felt much more realistic even though that iteration handled the edge of traction poorly, at least the cars didn't understeer like a FWD car.

I won't even consider playing this game for any price if it still understeers like that. Even if I use 270 degree steering 13 is nearly unplayable in my opinion. Feels awful. Some classic cars felt good though.

How could 2013 possibly be considered a copy/paste when it's the only time they've actually added anything to the series worth mentioning? And then they swiftly took it away because they weren't making enough profit.

They're downsizing, and taking away features because they're not making enough money. They never will make enough until they find a way to give people other than the hardcore fans a reason to buy it every year.

I've always said the best way to do that is to have a classic season in addition to modern. You'd get the modern season, and then a random season from the past. That would keep things fresh and intriguing in my opinion but it won't happen because codies probably can't afford to create the extra tracks.
