Not the greatest of times I have concocted I must admit, but I have never been amazing at Indianapolis

1:10:224 22.669/26.706/20.849

Ah well, points are points (if i get points) and when it comes to Magny-Cours i'm sure i'll do much better :D

EDIT: (In a Renault)

New Time:

1:08.923, 22.084/26.488/20.351 (Biggles - G25)

I'm done. I just wanted to tie with Fluffball!

(Actually, a couple of laps before I set that time, I ran two consecutive laps at 1:09.055 !)

Nice one Biggles....It's a shame we didn't tie the sector times too :dopey:

I have to say that the clock in this game isn't the most accurate...I get a lot of 0.066,0.033 etc...Coincidence? No,it happens too often!!

However,i managed to get a pretty good lap last night;

Indianapolis / Ferrari

1:08.358 , 21.712 / 26.477 / 20.169 Fluffball

This is harder than I thought, I think I'm losing way too much in the 2nd sector and then not hitting my top speed in the final sector, for a few laps I got 2 red sections on the speedo but I cant get them anymore??
Anyway: 1.08.265, 21.669/26.746/19.850, GT4genius

Damn you Fluffball!

I've always wanted to say "Damn you Fluffball" ...

so I took the opportunity!

I know there's more time there, but after a certain point the fun starts to diminish. What settings are people running? It's a tricky track for settings - I'm running 30/40 wings.

Usually setups are discussed after the weeks event is over, but anyway I don't think it is a rule.

Its definitely not a rule, you can reveal your setups whenever you want, its only suppose to be a bit of fun.

Eh....so.......care to share yours Zed??? :sly:

Just joking, even if I knew it I probably wont get a chance to try it until after this weeks deadline.

Thankyou for the Wing settings Biggles, did the trick.

Hey, I wouldn't go by my settings. I don't have any idea what I'm doing when it comes to tuning! But I'm glad to see you're still a few hundredths behind my time! ;)

I can't give specifics right now, but really soft front springs & suspension firm swaybar, the rear as hard as you can. Low ride (don''t hit the ripple )rear brake bias ,60% T.C gearing enough to get just short of 340kph(TT mode)

NOW I really feel like a sitting duck!!!!HAHAHA.

I forgot wings 35-33, I think that was my last choice?

My sectors say it's a good enough setup for 1.07.2xx

Hi

Here is my time...for what it's worth!

1.09.836, 22.028/27.207/20.601 - SteveSpeed

I've got just over 40 hours on the game now and not run this track a lot so I guess it's not a bad time. I'm sure I could get a bit more out of the second and third sectors - perhaps 1.5secs overall...I don't know how you people get some of those times!

Online, are the cars really equal or are your setups carried through on your profile as I've read somewhere?

Just wondering because I rarely do well on that and struggle for grip; some tracks worse than others... If I get a McLaren I am usually about 2sec a lap off the leader but in any other car I am 4 - 6secs off. I have setups for all tracks on the McLaren.

Cheers anyway. It was fun to chase your times even though I couldn't manage it!

My time:

Ferrari - Indianapolis

1:07.626, 21.489/26.107/20.030, Shaggy Alonso

Wow, yet again Alireza fails to show up, strange. I initially set a time literally 1 thousandth of a second slower than Zed but I hammered away until I got it, so yes it obviously is a big disadvantage to post your fastest times first off. It's been a funny week, there seems to be less of a spread between the field. It's a slightly annoying track where you feel as if you're constantly suffering from understeer and so always feel as though you can go faster but rarely do.

I've just realised that I never posted my Silverstone pics so I'll post both of these together

First, Silverstone:

yar 111.jpg

yar 112.jpg

And Indianapolis:

yar 114.jpg

yar 115.jpg

For Indianapolis I used a low downforce set up and speed ratio gear box. This wouldn't make any sense in any other car, but it's important to make the most out of the Ferrari's horsepower advantage over any other car. I was 25% front wing, 28% rear, maximum camber front and rear, 0.000 toe in/out, maximum tyre pressures, firmest suspension front and rear and 18 mm ride height.

I tried desperately last night to set a faster lap and could only get within 0.05on about 10 laps .started changing my setup ended up with something similar to yours Shaggy.

Well done Shaggy. Alireza not posting a time again?

hi guys ,
internet was disconnected here until right now ,

I have done a lap , it was done yesterday

1:06.946 21.349/25.967/19.630 Alireza Sabbagh

it was possible to do 20.9 25.8 19.3 for a 1:06.3 but was impossible to get all the gear shifts correct

please count this one as i assure all that the lap was done legitamately

Hmm... I think I should leave this one up to Zed and Shaggy, as they are your main opposition. So if they both tell me to include the time before 12 pm tomorrow then I will, however if either one doesnt agree well then I'm sorry, but it has happened before. :indiff:

Well as I am a racer that makes me competitive. Being competitive means I probably like to win. This is me.:sly: So this being the case,I would have to say that if being beaten fair and square is the only way to go, I do not like to be given anything, and I don't like to take either, especially when it comes to competition. So I don't want to be given 2nd place and I don't want to take 1st away from (I believe) an honest Alireza, who shows us all most weeks what is posssible.I am not usually a stickler for rules and there is an old saying "Rules are there to be broken" if the net was down, so be it.Brake the rule.👍

Ok thats good to here. I will add it then unless Shaggy has something else to say within the next 1 hour and 10 minutes. 👍

^^ Now that's what i call Sportsmanship 👍
"It's all about the Racing...YEH!!" I agree..... I don't usually comment on this thread but I read it often. And what we've just seen here is a great act of Sportsmanship by all involved..And I think it's this sort of respect for other competitors on and off track that make us all part of this GT_planet ...Good work guys!:)

So everything is updated, thanks to Zed for letting me post Alireza's time and I second what a1PAPAOSA said. 👍

Right I thought I better mention this before confusion arises. You may notice that two people were given 2 points each despite being outside the points paying positions. This is due to the fact that we have agreed several weeks ago to award 2 points to every new participant despite where they finish, however the normal rule still applies that if you are new and you finished withing the top 8 positions you get double the points, like what happened to Biggles this week. Hope thats not all too confusing, but I did promise bonus points to newcomers!

Also last week saw the largest ever number of people post times, I hope that this was not due solely to the fact that Indianapolis is a popular track. I would wish that those who took part last week will continue this week and learn from the masters, ie Zed, Shaggy and Alireza, and to possibly even disrupt the usual top three.

Thanking you all for your support, please let me know of any errors or omissions. 👍 (Not that I'm likely to make any! :dunce:)

Edit: @ Fuffball, well maybe just one mistake. Fixed, sorry.

BTW: This week we are using the Toyota F1 car, as seen on Top Gear last night, around the twists and undulations of Imola. Remember and morn the events of 1994 as you complete each lap.

Right, fair enough it's not like Alireza was ever going to be lying as he is the fastest guy here, but the least you could do would be to reinstate my last time posted at round 3 in Monaco if this is what is going to be done.

After reading back over the events then I have decided that to remain fair you do deserve to be given that 2nd place.

However from this week on the deadline is completely non negotiable. If you miss it for what ever reason, lack of internet confusion over international time zones etc, thats just tough. I dont want to seem harsh or too official but I think this is the only way we can have this. Right, now bare with me as I mess around with the first post for a bit. What ever you see from the first post is not finsihed until I say it is all updated again.

Now I'm starting to feal some sympathy for the FIA.

Edit: Ok up to date again, it wasnt as big of a change as I had expected, thought I would of had to change a lot of peoples points, but thankfully you were originally placed as 3rd there.

I would love to. However, for us new guys, I think it's the setups really affect the lack of pace. I took one of the tunes mentioned earlier for Indy and I shaved almost a full second off my time (but it was too late for entry for this weeks challenge). So would people be more open to sharing setups? If not, no biggie, but I think we'd see a bit tighter groupings.

Looking forward to the Toyota this week. I'm on my 2nd season with their team in career. 👍

With only 3 weeks left, and with the fact that I'm never going to catch Zed and when fishfash turns up I have no were near any sort of pace to keep him at bay, I dont mind sharing my setups. I'll probably have a rough one up later tonight. Dont get you hopes up, I'm not great and not too many people find my setups helpful.
