Just a question to you CSL DD users.
I noticed when I start up my Wheelbase that after a few Minutes my Base starts to produce this strange Micro Vibration/Grainy Feel in the Wheel.
Almost like a booting hard disk drive.
It happens every time after 4-5 Minutes.
During that period the Wheel feels very grainy. During that Period I continue to drive as it doesn’t distract me too much and after 5 more Minutes it slowly disappears and everything feels super smooth and it doesn’t come back for the rest of my playing Session no matter how long I play.
Does anyone else notice this strange behavior???
Maybe @super_gt knows what that might be???
Anyway the CSL Dd is awesome and anyone who thinks about upgrading and if it’s worth to upgrade from a non DD Wheelbase, YES, do it.
I drive for almost 25years with Steering Wheels in Video Games but this DD Technology is a whole new Step in my Experience.
I highly recommend to switch to a Direct Drive Wheelbase.
It’s a complete Game Changer, one you definitely are never going to neglect after you‘ve you‘ve once discovered it 😁
I have the same issue with mine although it shows up a little different. It‘s always there when i power up the wheelbase and disappears after 15-20 minutes (1-2 races). But there is a good chance that it comes back but then mainly noticeable in the main menu, not in the races anymore.Definitely a wheelbase thing though,i have it on Series X and the McLaren rim as well.

while the the mclaren rim works on the dd pro, it's technically an xbox licensed product so it's unlikely ever to have full support in a ps exclusive game.

I get by fine with how it is currently but it would be great to have expanded mapping like you can in f12021. I imagine through superGT's endorsement it's the rim of choice for many.

It‘s ridiculous that an xbox branded wheel works better on PS5 nonetheless.Almost half of the functions are not usable on xbox, the oled display is dead.In GT7 you have telemetry on the display and can use the toggle switches for the MFD (which is great). And the limited support on xbox was reason enough to refund ACC and get it on ps5 instead. There you can map ALL buttons

Has anyone used the Porsche rim with the endurance module on the DD pro yet? It’s a pretty hefty wheel. Was wondering if it’s extra weight nerfs the FFB a lot

So the Fanatec website is showing the bundles sold out now. Is this common before another pre-order goes up, or are they legitimately sold out now?

I realize I could still get everything minus the GT wheel by ordering individually.

They're sold out til they're not. It'll be back up on the site soon.

The second moment of mass (rotational inertia) is not a significant concern using different wheels on the DD Pro. (Maybe would be if the max torque was at Logictech levels ~2Nm).
Theoretically, we could measure this acceleration and prove there are tiny differences. Practically, it’s Marketing hype (in my [engineering] opinion). Marketing majors need to latch onto something to sell products.
I hear Will (from Boosted Media) talking about it frequently. He also talks about how the DD1 doesn’t have sufficient torque -> he needs to use the DD2. Plaayeze.

The bigger 320mm diameter of the Porsche rim dampens the force more than the weight. The weight doesn’t really matter unless you let go of the wheel and let it rotate by itself, like when you do drifting. When you're holding the wheel firmly, there's little to none angular acceleration, so the torque on the wheel is balanced or almost balanced, and the torque your hands apply on the rim is equal or almost equal to the torque output of the wheel base.
I have several wheels of different diameters and weights, the heaviest one is about twice the weight of the lightest one, but the difference in force feedback isn't nearly as big.

GT7 1.13 update note says there's some adjustment of FFB with DD Pro, can anyone actually tell what's changed? I've played a fair bit since the update but I didn't notice any difference.

I hadn’t played since the update, but got a chance yesterday. For me, it messed up the FFB even more. Took away even more detail and I was having major issues with clipping at relatively low torque. And when it clipped, the wheel would stay light for a long time. It sucked

Anyone know when we could expect to see the base GT DD Pro package back in stock? Tried reaching out to Fanatec but no response!

Strange I played GT7 before the last update the FFB still feels the same after the update.

I finding the GT DD Pro for GT7 when I changing from the 8Nm to the 5Nm booster kit, there is no difference in the way that the GT DD Pro preforms for that game. In GT Sport I did notice a difference between the 5Nm and the 8Nm for that game but not GT7, it seems I don't really need the 8Nm booster kit anymore for GT7.

@DomB_Fanatec what is up with Fanatec's support?
I contacted them a week ago about my faulty boost kit (massive coil whine) and never heard back.
They’re absolutely atrocious. I’m still trying to sort out my broken qr1. I want to return it but because they take so long to respond it’s past the return window and no doubt they’ll say I can’t return it. If they do I’ll chargeback through the credit card. Their CS is unacceptable.

Just a question but can anyone confirm that using the Metal Quick Release solves the “Clunky Noise“ that the Wheelrim does under heavy Load?!
I thought I might give it a try if it solves the Issue.
Hope to hear some positive Feedback 😁

Absolutely not. It was actually way worse in my case. I’ve had to go back to the plastic one. Here’s a short video of the noise. This is with the ‘safety bolt’ attached. Which also completely negates the quick release aspect. I contacted Fanatec and asked to send it back for a refund and they told me to attach the safety bolt which I told them I already had.

Fanatec only cares about selling you stuff, once it's done, they are very hard to reach or to make any sort of commercial gesture.

They are clearly here for your money and dont really care if you stay a customer with them or not. I just want another brand to make a dd wheel for ps5.

I have had a couple of issues with Fanatec gear over the last 3 years, however they have always eventually resolved the issue. Not getting a reply to my email for over a week was typical, BUT I always got a reply.

Over a week to respond to contact regarding a defective product is appalling. And then when it’s a lazy response which has already been answered in the original message it makes it even more apparent they aren’t interested.

First of all thanks for the iCloud link, I just watched it and this definitely looks worse than what is with my Plastic QR on my McLaren Rim.
So definitely won’t bother up er‘ downgrading 😅
That’s ridiculous, I mean do you know if there is a Workaround?
If not, we’ll hope the new QR2 will be better.
If not I don’t know Mate, to be honest in my opinion that’s unacceptable and Fanatec must have been aware of it.
In GT7 I’m using torque at 5 and 90% in the Wheelbase.
Imagine using the full 8NM 😅

Damn that’s a lot of rattle.

I’ve only been driving on mine for a week so far, but the only noise my base makes is a single thunk when I hit a heavy peak load in DiRT Rally 2.0 (usually when my Audi has decided to join Greenpeace and hug a tree). This is with the 8nm power brick by the way.

I swapped out the plastic release on my WRC wheel with a metal one.
Haven’t tried my F1 wheel yet but will the closer we get to F1 22 release.

Anybody own both the DD base and a drivehub adapter? I want to know if GT output different signal depending on what wheel the PS detects. If the game would alter ffb signal from mere device detection.

I already have OK pedals, shifter and handbrake (all TM except handbrake), but my thrustmaster tx racing (xbox base) is ******** the bed. I run it all via GimX on an old 300kg laptop, thing weighs as much as my wheelstand, jk.

Reading and seeing the issues with the fanatec quality, looking at the specs, the reviews and then the price, i only know im to poor to buy something cheap... Its a rediculous price just for PS licensing BS, the hardware dont seem that fancy at a closer look and im definately turned off by the GT official wheel. Cant motivate a complete ecosystem switch. Also i play more on PC.

Considering the ecosystem switch vs options, im looking at a simucube sport and a proper alu rig, yes not cheap but cheaper then the miata she wouldnt let me get... OR just maybe a rig and the csl dd with a diy boostkit and a proper 350mm real steering wheel still running a gimx with my existing gear...

Looking for an answer and maybe some input here, as im intrigued by the fanatec stuff but a bit put off by the toyish quality and looks. Simucube is twice the price, twice the torque, but i dare say even without trying one, its probably 10x better, objectively speaking ofc, as all simracing related matters are .. hehe.

Oh well hope somebody chimes in, surely im not the first pleb who stood on the ledge with a half decent setup, looking to upgrade, only to be held back by ecosystem licensing bs! Im probably half pirate half anarchist in a former life, but foremost i appreciate value for money as in, i wanna buy one thing once...

Sir, you are a Legend :bowdown:
I just did the tape fix, a bit different than how it’s shown in the Picture and I used Band aid tape, just a little bit and the rattling is gone 🤩
This is incredible 😂 thank you so much for that, you Guys just saved me of dishing out 100€ for nothing , you Legends 👍👍
Whole new Experience driving now.
It’s crazy.
Wow I’m Speechless 😅

I will test it over the next few days and definitely report back if anything changes, but so far it’s working 👏

I haven’t heard back but some people were apparently told by fanatec to use tape as mentioned above, this does help. I’ve done it but is a complete farce that we have to start taping things up. I still use the plastic QR anyway as there’s way less give in It. The metal one is just too big for the shaft, absolute joke.
It seems like luck of the draw whether any fanatec product is going to work or not. Considering the amount of fanatec items I have only having the one QR being defective may be a good result.

Oh yeah they definitely got back to me too but the way they answered and how little they wanted to take part in any discussion as well as the way they replied to any enquiry was not what I was expecting and it was multiple times over the years so it's not like it's because they have too much work now.
