Well Spain looses a penalty:lol: ,either way they will win this one surely but maybe they can't make the first place of their Group so probably we won't face them just yet:)

Don't count on that, although I reckon Chile as a quite strong team they're no match for Spain so is still there's a chance of Spain getting the first spot on the group. But to be the world champion you must face whoever comes up in your front, so come on Spain. :D

I watched the game contended between Portugal and North Korea on TV last night, I was so surprised to see that the Portuguese team scored as many as 7 points against the North Korean, it was like the Portuguese players were holding a "goal-shot" festival

I was at work usign headphones because I was monitoring some broadcast... yet heard my workmates yell "goal!" so many times that it was "wtf?"

I go see and sure enough, 6 goals. I stayed long enough to see the 7th one materialize. such a beating...

It would be nice if you'd please include the necessary apostrophes in the words that they belong in occasionally. We know English isn't your first language, though you seem to speak & type it very well, and we're not expecting perfection, but there's 4 examples of laziness in the part of your message I've quoted above, 3 missing apostrophes, and an uncapitalised "I" when referring to yourself.

This.

In other news, tomorrow closes the Groups A and B. Who are your takes and predictions?

I'm going for Uruguay and Mexico for Group A (in that order), and Argentina and South Korea (in that order) for Group B. So 1/8th finals would have Uruguay vs. Korea and Mexico vs. Argentina...

Tom, I'm not sure if Korea will be able to defeat Nigeria, they had good chances against Argentina and I'm quite sure they'll try to make things work for the final game.

I'm interested to see how Mexico and Uruguai will deal with their situation, keep the game tied so both will advance, or maybe one of them will try to take the win and consequently the lead spot in the group? Looking forward to this game. 👍

Given that the looser will almost certainly play Argentina, I can't imagine the second place team settling for a draw.

I agree with Diego there, Uruguay and Mexico from group A and Argentina and South Korea from group B. Though Argentina will be using only three players from their main team, but I doubt Greece will win the game.

In the next tree or four days it will be the closing for all groups.

My predictions for all groups will be (in this order):

Group A
Uruguai
Mexico

Group B
Argentina
South Korea

Group C
Slovenia
USA

Group D
Germany
Sérbia

Group E
Netherlands
Japan

Group F
Paraguay
Italy

Group G
Brasil
Portugal

Group H
Chile
Spain

No England you say? I think they'll beat Slovenia and USA will beat Algeria and both will go to the next stage.

AFAIK Nigeria will only go to the next round if they beat South Korea and Argentina beats Greece, regardless of number of goals, since in the triple tie with Korea and Greece they¿d go forward by goal differences. I just don't see Nigeria winning, even if it is against Korea.

Korea goes to the next round if:
- They win or tie with the same number of goals or better than Greece
- Beats Nigeria and Argentina doesn't lose against Greece
- Ties with Nigeria and Argentina beats Greece

And other combinations which would put it in first place and I see as highly unlikely. The thing is that except against Argentina, I see Korea more in control of their game. Greece only got control of their game once the NIgerian player was redcarded and Nigeria is one big mess, IMO.

In the next tree or four days it will be the closing for all groups.

My predictions for all groups will be (in this order):

Group A
Uruguai
Mexico

Group B
Argentina
South Korea

Group C
Slovenia
USA

Group D
Germany
Sérbia

Group E
Netherlands
Japan

Group F
Paraguay
Italy

Group G
Brasil
Portugal

Group H
Chile
Spain

I agree with this prediction, although I suspect it will be England and possibly USA to go through in group C.

I'm not seeing Slovenia giving everything to lose in this final match, has they are so close to next round. England poor exhibitions, even against Algeria didn't convince me.

RUI
Very unlikely: If Spain and Chile tie then Switzerland will probably get 2nd spot with Spain out. If Spain win they - or Switzerland - will be 1st of the group.
Yeah, you're right. It will be more the other way around. Spain has first in the group with a 2-1 victory and Chile second. The swiss team will either draw or even if they win, the goal score is still in favor of Chile.

I was briefly MORTIFIED that while the France South Africa is being shown on ITV in the UK, the other group A game, was notably absent from the BBC channels and replaced with Wimbledon tennis.:sly:

Thankfully, it turns out that ITV are broadcasting the two games on separate channels, ITV 1 and 4. Steve's delicate psychological balance has been restored. :)

Well, at least until the England match tomorrow. :ill:

I realised that too - that both games will be on the 'same' channel - presumably so ITV and BBC do not stand on each other's toes... it is a bit bizarre, but it makes sense... we're not going to be able to watch them both at the same time without either two TV's or one game on the telly and the other on the laptop...

Either way, it seems we have diplomatic clearance to leave work early tomorrow and go to the pub to watch the game... I'll be starting work mega-early in any case...

They'll probably switch back and forth as goals happen on either side. That's how they do it here at least.

France will desperately be hoping either Uruguay or Mexico stick one in, but not both. If that where to be the case, I would put my money on Uruguay finding the net.

They'll probably switch back and forth as goals happen on either side. That's how they do it here at least.

I can't see them doing that to be honest, since they have a two channels to cover both games. What is more likely to happen, is the commentators will announce a goal on the other side, and everyone will be desperately flicking over to see the replay. :P Although I am sure they will show bits of the other game at the half time interval.

Which brings up an interesting point, will they both cut to the same studio at half time?

[edit] Goal for south Africa! I think that's another nail in the french football teams coffin. It also potentially brings South Africa back into the mix, assuming a win on the other side of the group, although more goals will have to be scored.

[edit 2]Cisse sent off, its just looks bleaker and bleaker for France. Actually its Gourcuff not Cisse

Awesome, one more goal for South Africa and one more goal against Mexico leaves Mexico out. This could be amazing.

Ho thank you referer for the red card when they'r only yellow card.
So for France defeat it was allready wrigting after WCup 2006. NO SURPRISE.

It will be a revolution in french football now, some players will give them salary to tiny french football team manager and structure. I hope it will be same for other country to down the stars salary for bad or incompetent players in world.

When you see than a players go to toilette and win the SMIC (minimum money salary/month) it's just scary.
Perhaps this situation will reflect others.

GO South Africa you can pass the 1/8 with 2 goals more.

Bye French team, see you after revolution next year.

Oooh, I don't know. France have scored and spent a lot of time in their opponents' half even with 10 men. England didn't manage either against Algeria with 11 men and an entire game.

Very true, maybe I should say France's off-field antics take the heat off some of our own ridiculousness *cough* John Terry *cough*
