Pre-semi-finals update!

Highest Average Attendances
USA 94 - 68,991
Germany 06 - 52,491
England 66 - 51,094
Mexico 70 - 50,124
Italia 90 - 48,391
RSA 10 - 48,065

Now:

USA 94 - 68,991
Germany 06 - 52,491
England 66 - 51,094
Mexico 70 - 50,124
RSA 10 - 48,911
Italia 90 - 48,391

Lowest Average Scoring
RSA 10 - 2.196 (123 goals, 56 games so far)
Italia 90 - 2.212 (115/52)
Germany 06 - 2.297 (147/64)
Japan/Korea 02 - 2.516 (161/64)
Mexico 86 - 2.538 (132/52)
W. Germany 74 - 2.553 (97/38)

Now:

Italia 90 - 2.212 (115/52)
RSA 10 - 2.217 (133 goals, 60 games so far)
Germany 06 - 2.297 (147/64)
Japan/Korea 02 - 2.516 (161/64)
Mexico 86 - 2.538 (132/52)
W. Germany 74 - 2.553 (97/38)

RSA 10 needs 9 more goals in the last 4 games to avoid the fate of being the lowest scoring (rate) World Cup in history.

There have been 14 sendings-off so far, seven straight reds, seven second yellows. Germany 06 makes this look like an U11 five-a-side game, with 28 sendings-off (including four in one match - Portugal vs. Netherlands).

Now 16 sendings-off, but with just four games left it won't reach that nadir without an extraordinary game.

Spain -Paraguay was kind of a disappointing game...not very good football and a horrible referee. If the Spanish keep playing like this they will be an easy pray for the German Wolf:sly:

dude... Messi. I mean, I and everyone else expected this to be HIS world cup. The guy arrived to Soughtafrica at his highest level in Barcelona and ready to kick some serious ass. Not even Cristiano Ronaldo generated so high expectations as Messi (partly, I think, because Messi has gained a lot more maturity than that Ronaldo dwerp).

Some said he was going to make Southafrica 2010 what Mexico 70 was for Pelé and Mexico 86 was for Maradona (such a coincidence that the greatest participations of the two greatest football players ever happened in Mexico!) and he certainly had the cpnditions and skills.

But nothing, I mean NOT A SINGLE THING. It was like he was not there at all. Not a goal, not a particularly bright participation in any of the games, nothing. Which is sad for FIFA's best player oin the freaking world. The guy is a demon and he knows it. He must be drunk and crying now.

^^, to be fair, Messi was responsible directly or indirectly for most of the goals scored by Argentina until the quarter-finals, I wouldn't criticize him, his performance was seriously downgraded by the lack of tactical organization of the team as a whole. If he were playing for Germany, things would have been different, I presume.

Germany vs Spain should be excellent. Before the tourney started I had a bet with my dad that Germany would win the cup and he bet that Spain would win. One of us is going to be out of pocket before the final .

Congrats to Germany, I knew they would win. What a great match, they're the team to beat.

Yeah I know Germany beat Argentina, but I couldn't watch the match unfortunately :( I should've seen that.

Germany have got this in the bag now! I really don't see Spain and (probably) The Netherlands beating them.

I agree with You but since this is football and this has been the W.C of surprises one never knows:sly:

I think tactics have evolved such that a single huge threat like Messi or Ronaldo can be effectively neutralized.

Exatly. But Argentina play on individual player at 70% it's too much.

It's a sad reallity than best attack players of the world does not mark or very little.
Messi (7 last passe for goal coop but no goal), Ronaldo (Lucky funny goal only), Torres (nothing again), Drogba (1 goal), Robben (1 goal)... :ill:

Could this be the reason Maradonna was so desperate to win the world cup?? http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/3040408/Its-the-World-coke-Cup.html

It would be a little hard to sniff eleven solid kilograms, but it's about a specialist we're talking about.

What? I was mentioning this guy, who is specialized in sniffing coke:

If its Holland-Germany in the final it will be ALL OUT WAR... :) Sworn enemies.... Whats so funny though is that the Germans are now playing "total" football and the Dutch are playing how the Germans use too back in the day... Anyway... One more round to go and anything can still happen. It has been a World Cup filled with surprises until now...

Funny how it all changes. At the start, South America was king and Europe was rubbish. Now, 3 out of the last 4 are European...

True. And let's remember that IF Holland, Germany or Spain win the World Cup, that'll be the first time ever a European team becomes World Champions... outside the European Continent!

1930 - Hosts: Uruguay / Winners: Uruguay
1950 - Brazil / Uruguay
1962 - Chile / Brazil
1970 - Mexico / Brazil
1978 - Argentina / Argentina
1986 - Mexico / Argentina
1994 - USA / Brazil
2002 - Korea-Japan / Brazil

Perfect Final in my mind is Netherlands vs Spain...

At least one team wins it for the first time...

Indeed this would be the perfect final...and ofcourse totally perfect when Holland wins it....but euueuehhhh, first we have to win today!!!!!!!!!!....

👍👍👍 go Dutchies go 👍👍👍

spy.(who is a bit nervous but allready is wearing his lucky orange shirt since 6am this morning!!!)

Huh? when did that happen?
Ever since ITV got the rights to show the World Cup! ;)

I reckon Germany and Spain is too close to call, but Holland will beat Uruguay - not least since Uruguay have a few injury issues and don't have Suarez.

Germany v Holland final looks most likely, but (with no offense to my German friends), I'd prefer a Spain v Holland final, with Holland to win.

^^ fingers crossed for that.

Tonight many Dutch will have some heart beat stopping moments.

Beer is in the fridge :P

I like the way you think :D

HUP HOLLAND HUP!!! Just one more game to go to make it to the final!

I think Holland vs Uruguay will be much more of a close match than Germany vs Spain.

I would like to see Uruguay winning since it's a South American team and it's not Argentina, but I reckon Holland will probably take it. Holland will have to step up their game if they're planning on beating Germany though.

I quite like both teams, given that Holland are my favourite team, I should be supporting them, but I have quite a large amount of money on Uruguay winning the WC, which I put on at the start of the tournament.

Given that I still can't see Uruguay winning the WC, I am going to have to keep my support with Holland.

Although I don't see any other team take the World Cup home than Germany(undoubtedly the strongest team and best played football),I would love to see a Uruguay-Spain final and Uruguay taking the win,of course:sly:
