I'm using a G25 and mine is definitely off.

That's good news. I knew you could adjust it with the tuned version, but since I just got done playing with the pad, I was hoping there would be a way to get 0 TCS with the stock 370. I'll be plugging my wheel in tomorrow morning :)

My traction control with a DFGT wheel is stuck on 7??? I see some others that are ranked and they have it off... what gives?

Even though it's stuck on 7, it should be off if your using a wheel....or is it just the g25? I'm still trying to figure this out. Can you do burnouts and keep your wheels spinning? Make sure it's the stock 370z.

Anyone notice that when you go to load a saved replay, there's a version number on the bottom? Wonder what that is for.

my first impression
ZOMG went flatout on the main and went hard on brakes and the whole car was shaking violently hahhaha it was intense my jaw dropped i was like OMG

sorry but iam sooo excited

Here's an impression:

My impression is, looking at the game file properties and seeing that it expires on 2/24/2010 means that this demo will NOT last forever. ;)

Quick, someone make a second impressions thread!

IsmokeGT, your "garbage" posts aren't really adding to the discussion either.

It's sounding like a bug to me. I just checked the settings in my normal car here and it says its set to 7 but that's impossible since I'm getting plenty of wheel spin and no red bar in the throttle bar. Change the settings in the tuned one and see if the normal one changes too. Not in the settings menu but in the actual race.

Yeah, stock 370. Positive traction control is on. I spin a little in first and thats it.

I'm going to unplug and see what happens after the DFGT resets...

I've noticed the car is VERY twitchy, possible TOO twitchy. It twitches at any given speed, and it seems like when I provoke a slide or shift the weight at 120, I can save even the most heroic angles without gripping on opposite lock and spinning. Although I did spin going around 150 on the back straight.

Overall the demo is KILLER. I love everything

You can only turn it off with the tuned version. But I noticed that I don't have traction control with the stock, while my friend using a pad has it on. Can we assume wheel users using the stock 370z has TCS off and pad users have it on?

He said tap X to go into roof cam and right analogue to rotate the view, not rotate around the car.
I'd say controller users are stuck with it on. Which is a shame, because I don't have a $300 steering wheel =[

I've gone into roof cam. You use select, not X. And right analog doesn't rotate the view in any way.

"X" gets you to where you can select views. Then "Select" changes the views. And you probably cannot rotate the camera because your controller is not set up to look left and right with the right analog stick. You have to set it up that way in the button configuration menu. ;)

Well guys to answer a few of the questions.
I'm using the DFP and while the options say that the TC is on 7, its grayed out, and while driving it definitely off, getting plenty of wheelspin!
Pretty sure its also working at 900' rotation.

My thoughts...
*OMG how good is that brake scuttle!
*I'm actually finding it quite difficult to catch the slides on the N3's, much like I did with GTR2/GTL.
*I have also had a screen 'pause' if thats the right word? It was like a really big stutter but of only the one frame, only seen it the once.

The good:

- The cockpit is much more involving especially when braking for turn 1. I find this gives GT the "sense of speed" it has always been lacking.
- The engine noises are less raspy. They still are not quite there but a much needed improvement. Although it is not fair to judge by one car.
- Wow! Actual accurate collision physics. It really makes f'ing up much more violent.
- PD once again makes stellar car models.
- I do not know if I am the only one that noticed this but the drivers wheel inputs are more fluid and life like.
- Braking while turning = -.5 seconds.
- Low speed physics finally feel accurate.
- Noobs are going to hate this game. Honestly I cannot see anyone without a respectable amount of driving knowledge being very fast.
- I guess the tire sounds are better but...

Cons:
- ...they are too loud (or rather they occur too often).
- Too Twitchy. GT5p was smooth... if not a bit too easy. This demo, is, well, if this is what 370z feels like then what the heck is a Lotus Exige going to be like? I find there to be too much of a seesaw effect. I know cars have this but I feel it is over exemplified. It feels like GT5p + GTR2/GTL/NFS Shift on the PC. I am using a G25 and I am finding it very hard to know when to countersteer and then when to go back to center (a problem I did not have in GT5p). I think this is more of a FFB/communication problem than the actual physics. When I do guess the right time to counter and return everything acts like it should. Its just that a lot of the time I just can't tell when.
- The track is well, kinda dull. Some areas are really nice (ie the pits and control tower) but others (back stands, grass and people) are IMO pretty bad. Its noticeable even when playing. Its mostly the grass and the fans. The grass looks like a flat plane not a texture and the people are well, 2d.
- There are some annoying FR drops when crossing the start line and towards the back of the track. Not a big deal but noticeable.

Thats about all I can think of at 3am EST. Overall if this is just a taste, I am sure GT5 will be quite a feast (get it...:sly:). I am stuck just at 1:39 dead but with some coffee and a good nights sleep 1:38 should not be too hard to break. After that well, I do not know.

Enjoying it so far. There are still some jaggies around the edges of the wheel wells, rims, and door edges but all minor issues. The driving physics are a little odd due to the fact the setting are stuck on TCS set to on and the ASM also. I always turn these off and the option to do so is unfortunatley absent.

The "stock" 370z handles a bit strange, i attribute it to the N3 tires but it takes a while to get used to, a real 370 has excellent grip coming out of corners due to it's 19' rims, it's viscous LSD and sticky tires yet the one in GT academy is void of these attributes. The "tuned" version is a beast though, it has mega grip and rockets out of corners like a SCUD missile.

considering this demo is only about 200mb, the data must be really compressed so i'm convinced that GT5's image quality will be much better than what we see in this demo, yet they are still remarkable.

well done PD :)

I'm thinking the same thing, so the few graphics imperfections that kinda bug me I am just ignoring them.

On the graphics. As a rule I think PD does city location much better than more open places. London looks absolutely amazing in GT5p. As does the Tokyo track from the TGS demo. But almost all the wide open areas have this flatness about them. IDK it could just be me.

I think ROAD courses are what does it. I always feel empty, and too bland. I think what might've killed the racing for me for FM3, all those flat boring beginner races.

My first impressions are about physics. Physics are seriously improved in the demo and the car feels better than GT5P. Tyre grip also sems to be upgraded.
Maybe graphics looks not that good as GT5P but for me this demo is an excelent present from PD.
