Gratz Nepal for the winning! You just owned it up today.

Kinda disappointing race for me. I got stuck in pits for like 15 seconds and when i got out i was down to 9th.

Then on the last lap i was in 6th, with carracerp in 7th and CSL in 8th, all battleing with each other. On the hairpin, CSL didn't break early enough and crashed into carracerp and carracerp crashed into me.
We both almost spun and CSL passed us. I think he needed to give position back, but got caught in the heat of last lap and he didn't!

Sounds like you had several unrelated problems. Don't blame all of them on one thing. You either have hundreds or thousands of hours under your belt and know that track so competing is easy, or you put a couple dozen hours into preparing for a single race. That is how I see it anyway. You've got plenty of passion and ability. Don't get so down on yourself dude! 👍

As for qualifying, finding clean air without other cars around to distract you is important. If someone anyway near me (in front or behind) I pull off to the side until there is a big gap. Sure it wastes a lap, but if done early on it gives you a good shot of getting several clean laps in. You only need two or three laps to get reasonably close to your target time.

My Race Report​

Lagging was a good description of my entire race. Did horribly in qualifying - got 8th.

The race started - I got a good jump, made it to 6th before the tunnel. Felt I was going fast enough to keep pace. Then, by the end of lap one, I was starting to lag behind. The tires started heating up on lap two and I made some ground. Then disaster struck and, due to one reason or another, I ended up rear-ending CLS into the sandtrap on the last turn before the straight.

After what seemed like forever waiting, I finally regained position behind him. I had a good battle with him for most of the race up to the pits. I pitted with what I thought was the leaders, trying to counter-act last week's disastrous pit strategy. I believe 07 got a penalty, so I came out just ahead of him. The car was handling great, thanks to lack of fuel, and I didn't have any of the lag issues.

Then, met up with CLS again coming out of the pits, and the battle resumed between 6th, 7th, and 8th. We basically swapped positions back and forth until about lap 19, where CLS was hit with some sort of a lag glitch, stopping his car dead. 07 and I consumed ourselves on lap 20, myself over-driving the car, letting CLS catch back up.

On lap 21, last lap, we're all nosed the tail. Really not much room for error. Coming into the hairpin, 07 in the lead (6th), followed by myself. Thanks to what is believed to be lag, CLS crashed into me, resulting in a domino affect of me nearly turning around 07. Tried to avoid that and stayed on the brakes, letting him regain car control, and during this time, CLS made a pass right between the two of us.

Then it was a race to the last turn, 07 closely tailing CLS, myself out of contention. Everyone made the last turn okay. My car was hit with another healthy dose of understeer (more than normal drafting understeer), which seemed only to happen when following CLS, which I presume has something to do with lag, resulting in a, to me, disappointing 8th place position. Really thought I had practiced enough for 5th.

Truly a quick-paced set by all of the leaders. I ran 5s all race while they were turning 4s.

So much more fun than last week. Had some good battles. Can't wait for Twin City.

Who besides me thinks that Twin City is going to be the Daytona 500 of the series?

Oh, and I found a new DS3 problem, my car was dropping 2nd for 1st. Killed 2 good laps.
Can't wait for the wheel now.

me ive thought that since i first drove it too many high speed low braking corners for my liking... imo it needs some heavy breaking spots for passed to be made as i rekon its going to be really wierd to race on, driving on your own on its fine but when your bumper to bumper forget about it when we tried a practice race there me Nep and a few others couldnt work it out lol

You did get fast lap (by a country mile in spec miata standards)... Glad the internet hung in there for you rather than punting you.

I guess I got lucky... At least the qualifying went well, no weird grip like last week. Cant wait to watch that replay

On lap 19, I got stopped dead by lag. No idea who's end it was, but in my view Minions car shot backwards into me, heavy damage, 2 laps to go, lost 6 seconds.
Minion and Carracer drove away, as it was caused by lag.
Lap 21, I caught back up to them, final lap battle, pretty much constant small bits of lag, until finally entering the second to last hairpin, it appeared lag nabbed carracer, who stopped dead, abit in front and beside me, I turn in hard to swing inside, and that quick carracer was rolling beside me, and Minion was coming out in front of me but going slowly, but I didn't see him encounter any contact.
I didn't brake particularly late, as I wasn't planning to try a pass yet, rather get a run on the exit. I think without the lag we would have all made through the corner just fine.

On my screen the only reason I saw for contact was lag, in which case we drive away, and make the best of what we get, just as I did the first time.

TBH, none of us "earned" our finish spots, lag took those chances away, on the final lap and lap 19. I just got the benefit of the lag the second time around.

Definitely a strange start in Div3. I qualified second, behind the ever fast Nepalii. On my screen his car surged forward, hesitated and then we all took off. In the confusion, and strangeness, I ended up 4th and in traffic by the end of turn 1.

Exciting first couple of laps, as we were all racing so close together. For the most part, I think everyone did quite well considering the tight quarters. On lap 4(I think), I failed to protect my inside line, and fell back two more positions. At the time I thought I got bamboozled.. but after looking at the replay it was 100% a racing incident.

Managed to make my way up to 2nd for the last stint. From there, I ran a couple of back to back 4.3's and a bunch of mid 4's. But, Nepalli kept his 10 second lead. In fact, by the very end, he turned it into 13sec. I wish I could have stayed with Nepalii in the beginning, because I think I could have given him a bit of a race.

Nepalii ran this course fast all week and deserved the win. :tup:Nep!

Thank you Red. Like I said, the start was rough for all of us. If I had never passed Spy and Minion that early, things could have been much different for me. I must say you were in a great pace after the pits. Well done, consistent and fast driving. It would have been fun if we had sticked together throughout the race. 👍

I saw the finishing order and was I'm impressed by your 2nd place. You got shuffled back at the start, so great come-back 👍
I could not do any type of 4s laps on command (no draft), My best non-drafted lap was 4.7XX on friday.
You guys running 4s, 3s constantly are really fast.

I'm very disappointed in my race. Started out ok, I just waited up for the funkyness at start and all was well, carracer got a little over enthusiastic entering the last turn on lap 3-4 or so, bumped me out into the sand, just a racing incident, he gave the spot back, but unfortunately, most of the damage was done, the draft was gone.
I was anxious to have at it and reel the leaders back in, but unfortunately carracer wasn't quite up to the task of pushing me or giving a boost, just a bit to mistake free for me to break free from. I didn't block you... On 1 lap I braked too early. Really? It was for like 2 laps out of however many you could've done.

In retrospect I do think it was a bad idea for you to race. Only because if it upsets one driver in any way, it shouldn't happen. Incident or not, it's an extra potential problem, had you finished, it would have screwed the standings for D3.

Disappointed we didn't listen to the guy telling us that.

I would have but my car could not follow you.
It was like the car lost 40HP, The bakes were dead (actually not dead, they would grab, snap on, then go dead, then snap again) and I was running on rims.
It was horribly unbalanced. The weird part was I could follow 07 better.
I think the lag made your draft "flicker" and overall messing up my car.
Maybe a better network would have made 2 car bump-drafting posable.
On my screen your car was solid, save lap 19. The main lag I saw was at the start of the race.

On drivers jumping divisions, between races, I agree. It's a bad idea. unless it was pre-arranged days before (maybe a driver swap) .
P.S. RT, how do "reserve drivers" work?

I had a good race today qualified 7th and finished 5th, got pretty lucky tbh managed to keep my self out of trouble and jumped a few places cause people got pit penalties. Anyway hopefully I get as much luck next week
