Got 3 tires on the sand on the last turn before the Corkscrew, overcorrected and went head on into the tire wall.

On lap 3.

Then when I was coming back on the track, BOOM. I got t-boned by BlackIce while I was still in the sand. Engine damage, right side damage everywhere.

Tried continuing, but pushed her too hard on wearing tires, and went wide in turn 3 three laps in a row. The last time, I went wide in turn 4 as well. So now, I'm watching Wardez's stream, and on my tv at the Corkscrew at the same time.

...Bleh. I thought I could actually keep up with you guys today, too.

:(

Ya I took the turn too fast and went wide, I tried to get back on the track as fast as I could but couldn't. I had major damage and was crawling.

Anyways, since we were talking about the Game 7 Stanley Cup Finals for a short bit in the room before the race, I thought I should share this with you guys...

Not the best season ender for me either :/ Was doin great for the first 20 laps or so and then I just barely lost the draft of the leaders and made one of my "Laguna Seca blunders." Never been a good course for me so overall a decent finish, I guess.

Pitted on lap 25 (I think) and when I came out I just could not seem to break 46 flats....It was awful, I felt like I was taking the corners at the right speeds but my times had just hit a brick wall... I don't know if it was lag or just me being boneheaded, but either way I panicked and made even more blunders :(

Overall a FANTASTIC season and I can't wait for season 3 fellas! :D

Results and Final Points standings are up and can be found here:

For the last GT race of the season, we might run it on Saturday night depending on everyone's schedules. We can't do it on Sunday night because of the 4th being the next day and people might have plans. Does Saturday night at 8pm eastern work for everyone?

Anyone who I raced beside, was I lagging?
There was definite lag on my end but I don't know what was causing it. It was so sluggish while leading and a little bit better once I was in the back but it didn't get better. I had trouble just getting a 1:45 flat when I was able to be under that easily during practice. I was only able to run a 1:44.7 as my fastest lap.

Oh, and just to reiterate, I forgive Brosif for what happened between us. Yes, I was furious when the incident happened but I'm over it now. No need to harbor any ill will when it's only a game. :)

Also, congrats to Samhain for the win! We were in a room earlier and he had a very fast car. I had a feeling he was going to be in the mix before it was all over. Too bad I wasn't there to challenge. Well done! :gtpflag:

Something I just noticed while watching the replay is that you would have been ok had you recovered faster than you did. Did you not use reverse because of traffic?

ty ty! i wish i could have made more races this season, but good season nontheless. its always fun to race with a group of people who are both clean and fast.

EDIT: hey turbo, i won the practice race before Race 1, does that count as a win?

Sort of. I didn't want to ruin anyone else's day because of what happened. The big problem I had was that I had dirt on my tires and I was mad so I went caveman on the gas and spun it again. :dunce:

I just got a chance to look at the replay. Brosif had a really good run but I thought he was too far back to attempt the inside. He did, we both collided, and I had all but no control of the car. It cut the chicane and I thought I was going to be able to recover. Unfortunately, I guess either the dirt, the elevation change, or me trying to be on the gas a bit caused one of the rears to lose grip and the rest was history. It actually reminds me of this.

Anyway. Great season. Thanks to everyone who took part in it, and to Turbo especially for great organizational effort. Really looking forward for the next season, and hoping real life won't get in the way.

I'll continue to keep this thread open and if anyone has suggestions on racing times, please do speak up. We are going to make some big changes for next season so it would be awesome if everyone could keep an eye on this thread or the website for any new information. 👍

@ Outlaw: I watched it from a couple different angles, (damn GT for not having replay controls...) and it looked to me like Brosif had one hell of a run coming up behind you, and just wasn't ready for you to hit the brakes. He swerved to avoid hitting you and ended up getting into your door a couple times which pushed you off the track.

I think you would have been ok had the "bump" not been there and upset the car. Anyone know if that bump is there in real life? Is it really that pronounced? I've always hated that damn thing...

i suggest early morning time. itss a bit easier for myself but not to be selfish i want whats best for everyone else to be happy

Yahoo! 17th place overall! :D

Sorry I couldn't make the race today, I didn't really have any time to practice and was gone for qualifying, so it just didn't work. I'll be looking forward to next season. 👍

Sorry I couldn't hang out and say thanks after the race. I was running out the house as soon as I crossed the finish line.

Sorry about that over eager bump/punt at the last turn SLC. I really really really wanted 5th but that didn't help me :).

Almost gained 10 spots during the race myself starting from very last place, felt pretty good about that. Felt kind of like Mark Webber back in China this year.

My jaw literally dropped and I let out an audible, " WAHHH???" When I saw him on the side of the road by the corkscrew. Really sucked to see that outlaw, feel for you.

Had great battles for position through out. RedReevos really helped me out in the beginning, Dsgerbc really kept it clean, pit went well, Stig defended nicely as well.

I had a pretty clean run through out actually, which goes against all the whining I did in my previous poetic post about never having a good race here.

Most of all though is the 3rd place in the championship I secured. One better than last season so what's next, second? ... awkward spot to aim for so I'll just keep doing what everyone else is doing and aim fo' dat sky.

Really had fun with the gang this season, new guys and old, it's amazing how much talent's crawling through the races in FMSC, can't wait to see it through another season and I hope most of you do the same.

Congrats to Sam for the awesome finish, Laguna's pretty much his track the way I see it, I've never been able to keep up with him there.

Congrats to RT for shutting down the competition and clinching out the big cup, great great run.

For a while, I really thought I was going to catch up to you. I saw your car getting larger and larger before you went to pit road. I was still running decent times (despite the lag) so I stayed out a few more laps. Somehow, I lost a ton of ground on the pit and took the rest of the race to get back to where I was before the stop. Then, I got wide on a corner and Stig caught up to me. I probably owe him an apology for my very sloppy driving the last two laps. Sorry, Stig! :dunce:

RT, thanks for being such a good host! Can't wait for Season 3 to start! The main thing I'll need to work on is how to deal with the lag on race day. Seems as though that's something that's here to stay.

As for pics, I think I went overboard. I took 36! Help!

I literally did the same thing. When I saw him go around, I was like "no way, that sucks..."

👍

All the other series I race in, are never as good as this one. We've got a solid group of racers here, I would hate to see anyone leave. :nervous:

Congrats to RT for shutting down the competition and clinching out the big cup, great great run.

Thanks! Might sound cheesy but I think everything I learned at Silverstone not only helped my driving in the real world, but also helped in the game. Quotes from the instructors keep going through my head when I'm racing. I think they're stuck in there!

Not sure what to do about the lag. I've mentioned the combining rooms by total time before but it keeps getting shot down. If we could run several rooms with less people, then combine them by total time it might help with that. Just one of the many things to figure out before before next season. 👍

I snapped a few photos myself, should be up in a few minutes. You should be able to add yours to the same album on the website so we have them all in one place.

We can add photos to the site itself? I didn't know that! :dopey:

Is there a limit on the file size? I have some from the last race I can put up. 👍

I just added an album for Autumn Ring so you can put the ones you have from that race in there. I've uploaded full size photos just fine, however if you try to upload more than two at a time it freaks out. Let me know if you have any issues.

No problems on my end. They came out a bit dark and dull but they are still good. Enjoy, everyone! :)

Yeah I noticed that too. It also compresses them and makes them a bit edgy which may be fixable by re-sizing before upload. Not a big deal though.

Edit: Those of you that frequent the website will notice that I have ditched the home page upon entry, and replaced it with the news page. I felt it was better to have the news right up front so it's easy to find and hard to ignore. The new sponsor banner fit nicely at the top too!

Fecking Phantom Lag! This is exactly what I was experiencing last night and what also plagued me during the preseason race at GVE-R and the season opener at Cape Ring Inside. The enormous feeling of helplessness is very frustrating because all the indicators behind the wheel suggest that you are going to see similar lap times except your times are actually one to two seconds slower and the competition keeps pulling away. My best lap time in the prerace practice session was a 44.0 with low 44s all day long but in the race high 45s were the best I could consistently lay down in clean air. Even in the draft the best I could run was a 44.6.

I don’t know what we can do about Phantom Lag but I know that it is not something I want to continue experiencing while racing. The Lotus 111R race I ran in yesterday had 15 racers and I did not experience any noticeable lag or Phantom Lag so there is obviously a solution. I don’t know if the host having a wired connection helps but perhaps that is something that could be looked into. It is obvious that having one person with connectivity issues can cause problems for multiple people, as witnessed with CocoComa last week, so maybe we need to be a bit more stringent of people’s network setup. The combined time/multiple room idea still seems like a solution I rather not commit to so I am going to start a thread on the website to discuss this topic further.

I don’t blame you, I would have been furious too! I am glad that I have been forgiven and I hope you realize that that is not the way I ever try to race. I am sure that Season 3 will see us with plenty more battles, hopefully for the win!

Turbo pretty much has it spot on. I was not intending to pass you as I was perfectly content with sitting in your draft and saving my tires. I don’t know if you got on the brakes early or I just missed my braking point (just before the “2” marker when in the draft) but when I realized that you were going a lot slower than me I swerved to the left to miss you, rather than ramming into your arse. I was hoping you would see me and not turn in but then I heard the “thud”. I never actually saw the collision and I didn’t know you went off track due to the limited view of the cockpit.

Something I just noticed about the photo albums on the website...if you're looking at a photo and want the larger version just right-click on the picture and select "View Image". 👍

I've put this in the caption for each picture so people can see it when they are browsing the photos.

Or you can click on the "Full Size" link to the bottom right of each photo. :)

Didn't see that. :P

Edit: Just tried it and it's a bit weird. I would prefer the right-click method as it sizes it appropriately according to your browser/monitor size, then you can zoom in more if you wish.

We had the same issues at the last race as well. I would say that it was about the same as when I was trying to climb up the field (as the leader, it was maybe 10-15 fps at best). The difference was that someone quit mid-race and the lag completely disappeared.

Based on my online experiences, it doesn't matter how fast someone's connection because it will the one with the slowest that will dictate how smoothly the race will go. What strikes me as strange was that I was parked at a corner before the race to see if we had any noticable lag. I know one was lagging early in the session but they left and came back with the problem solved. In fact, I did not notice any issues at all until the race actually started.

Same to you. I'll probably join the Evo Tuner Cup in the meantime so we'll probably be battling there too. :)

You did the kink before the corkscrew brilliantly and coupled with the draft, was carrying a ton of speed. In fact, I'm not sure if you would had made the turn-in if my car wasn't there (you were going at least 55 mph at the entry point).

I mentioned this to RT before but I tend to brake early to get a fast exit. That tends to catch people off-guard and I always tell them to not worry about it if you tap my rear because of it. :P

I like it but I miss the introductory paragraphs. It provided a good description on what the whole series is all about, especially for newcomers. Maybe a link to an "About" page would work?
