Didn't have to look hard or long at all. And this is just quick searching.

Great shots, they do indeed look realistic.

Nice pictures T.O. very nice but not realistic photos to me, If those look realistic to you I respect that not IMO though. I cant explain it but i can still see the game in those pics, they are very nice pictures though.

If we're talking about the cars in particular I can't agree. They look photo realistic. If you're talking about the photo as a whole then there is "something" in each photo that tips off "not exactly real" in the photos. However it's the same with the photo you showed. While the little of the car we see is real the rest of it screams game, to me.

The Vette looks VERY VERY close to photo realistic but playing the game as long as I have I can tell there's just something a little too perfect about it. The Aston Martin however is DEAD on realistic as I've actually seen photos that look like that with that car and I give the GT5 photo the same props, as far as the car is concerned.

Compare GT5's Ring to the Ring in Forza. Forzas Ring looks right in terms of color , GT5's looks like a Green Giant commercial. Both games have ups and downs. Teall me this isn't looking real.
Maybe you are comparing different times or weather?

Your picture screams videogame to me, far from realistic. Maybe if I was not accustomed to GT5 graphics that will look more real to my eyes, like in the past GT4 pics looked more real than look today. I'm sure that will happen the same with GT5 when the next GT is out in PS4.

This for example look in another league to me in realistic terms:

Still looks like a game to me. But I see where you believe it looks photo realistic. This is all my opinion of course. The colors are just way off and that's how I prefer them to look. Don't ask why I don't really know why I have that preference.

Im sorry T.O. but im talking about the picture as a whole it must be the lightning or something that throws me off. Those pictures are amazing but they don't strike me as real.

This photo on the other hand I had to look at a couple times everything seems right in this picture to fool someone as myself thinking it is real.

That one looks amazing but still looks like a game. Like I said it's just the way they use their colors.

Agreed. I also think the graphics of GT5 (premium cars) looks better than what I have seen of Forza 4 (although its a big improvement over F3) but the final verdict in my opinion is yet to be determined until I actually have Forza running on my TV.

Funny cause everything seems wrong too me. The only thing looking real in that photo is the sky and treeline. Funny thing is even a REAL photo can look fake. All depends on the camera settings.

The road it's on DEFINITELY doesn't look a bit real. The SUPER GT/JGTC car above looks more like a model car to me than anything else. Can't put my finger on it but it doesn't quite have that real look to it.

I guess it's all about how we percieve things. There are a number of subconscious things going on. I'm pretty sure, not saying you particularly, but some people see that FM3 logo and their minds work over time to try to debunk the photo as I'm sure some do with GT5 photos. This is yet another subjective topic that will probably go nowhere. I can say that GT5's photo, stock , look better than FM3 on a whole. But I can also say creative picture taking in both games can produce identically convincing photos.

I think they all look like Atari 2600 pics.

At least the game covers. lol.
Remember how the box had all this great art ....

and then ....

Looking closer at that cover "HEY PD, EVEN THE 2600 HAD PORSCHE, WHAT GIVES ?!?!!?" lol. I wonder if they even paid any rights for the obvious Porsche and BMW reference in those pics.

 T.O. I hate that I cannot take pictures like these guys.

You know I never really tried. I did try once kinda hard in GT5 but in FM3 I usually just take some glare off and reduce saturation some and that's about it. Best I've ever come up with is these ...

But for everyone of these I got a ton that scream "GAME" for both. LOL

Does anyone remember that LFA image someone posted from GT5? That image made me have second looks to see it wasn't real until I noticed the trees.

That merc shot highlights something in GT5 that bugs me with the graphics. Why is the ripple strip reflected on the SIDE of the car? Go in any race, drive over a white line/ripple strip and watch it get reflected on the side of the car. After I noticed it once, I couldn't help but notice it every time, ruined the effect of realism completely :(

Not sure if this is the one your talking about but this one had me fooled.

Thats what caught my eye too, the reflections of the rumble strip arnt in the right place.

Another thing the bothers me is the black license plate, give the direction of the light source there should be some level of refection on the plate, bearing in mind its a jet black gloss plate.

Unless there using some special reflection absorbent material, and even then there would still be some level of light hitting the surface of the plate noticeable to the eye.

The second one had me look twice (until I notice the square tent). The first one is clearly from a video game.

Truth of the matter is, even if you can take awesome photos in Forza 3, there are very few of them which had me fooled for being the real deal, whereas there lots of GT5 photos where I need to look twice to find the little detail that will give it away, such as the background/ground/track being too "simple" or some reflections being off (the best "quick look" indicator being the reflection of side mirrors on the car body, or, well, the absence of).

@ da bomber that picture fooled me as well it's not fair how good these guys are at taking photos totally agree with you!

That is because gt5 has better car graphics than fm3.

But those better graphics are limited to 20% of the cars available in the game.

The standards cant even compete with FM1 models.

A sand cake with some strawberrys on top is not better than an average apple pie and you find out soon that it is not enjoyable.

The graphics argument is really pointless, because it doesnt represent the overall quality of GT5.

FM4 will come with very high detailed cars and all have cockpit and can be tuned. There is a general quality in the game that doesnt get shaken by standard cars or bad looking tracks. This is quite important and GT5 feels more like a beta game, because of the overall bad presentation.

It really doesn't help that any FM3 pic that's been uploaded is nowhere near the fidelity of the actual image on screen. If you could export FM3 images to USB and then run them through flickr, they'd be pretty amazing.

I hope we have that option of exporting files to a USB stick. But I liked the fm.net integration with the game... just didn't like the quality drop in the photos due to compression or whatever else happens.

Why are we only judging GT's premium models versus FM3's entire model range ?

I dont think a graphical comparison between these game should be made by cherry picking only those aspects that benefit one side over the other. If we are going to compare the quality of the cars or environments that has to be made by looking at both games as a whole.

Theres no getting around the fact that 80% of GT5's cars are PS2/PSP ports, they were designed for the previous generation of console, and they look exactly that.

With FM3 we are expected to judge the game as a whole, but we give GT5 a free pass on that, that to me is not a fair comparison, nor is it accurate to judge GT5's graphical prowess by only focusing on 20% of its content, whilst ignoring the vast bulk of the game.

Why should we move the goal posts to suit GT5 by omitting 80% of the games content*, we wouldnt do that for any other game, if we are to judge these games, GT should be held to the same standards imo.
