Hammertime?

Does the Merc have any hammers left versus the Ferrari?

How can you gain an advantage for getting it wrong?

He didn't, unless you count Bottas not steaming into the back of him. No real advantage was there to be gained by either car and no advantage was.

Good race so far, I have to say :)

This is going to be close.

And the rain is starting to spatter on the circuit.

Good stuff. Kimi is less than 20 seconds behind.

Pfffft.,

Telling Bottas to keep Kimi behind him. Uhu.

The overcut was only ever going to be marginal, considering the pace of Ferrari. The question now is how long Bottas can hold back Kimi.

Considering they’ve been keen on adding extra DRS zones this year, I’m surprised they didn’t add one to the straight before Parabolica. Could’ve even added one to Curva Grande, considering they added the extra through the first corners at Silverstone.

Mercedes "giving both drivers an equal chance" again. Apparently using one of them as a rolling roadblock on dead tyres is equal. Then again, Bottas is too much of a nice guy to do anything else than smile ear to ear and tell the media how great everything is.

The tension in the stands is thick enough to cut with a knife.

Jeez, Kimi's rear tires look like they've been filleted with a knife, too.

It's like Austria where the soft tyres have fallen apart.

I think Pirelli's argument for these compounds is more a safety issue, where the constant high speeds and abrasive tarmac might cause explodey type issues with the hypersoft tyres.

This is absolute balls. Mercedes has lost a lot of respect, today.

Bottas was always going to have an issue with Verstappen, given their relative track positions before Verstappen's pit.

But he has the power to overtake Verstappen at the end, as long as he's on fresher tires.
