That he pushes the envelope as hard as he (and other drivers) can?
And if that was the extent of it, I would be quite content to let sleeping dogs lie. But I think there's something more to it. Arguably, the thing that set me against Hamilton is media representation, and believe it or not, there was a time when I thought quite highly of him - back in 2009, when he had to stand out and lead McLaren.

Sometimes, the media are to blame. When he had the opportunity to match Senna's record in Singapore last year, you could be forgiven for thinking that we were about to crown a new king, as if he was the sole heir to the Senna legacy (which is arguably something that belongs to every driver).

Other times, I think the fans are to blame; I have found that some of the most aggressive and disagreeable fans to be his fans. They will tirelessly defend some of his incredibly aggressive moves, only to turn around and criticise other drivers for doing exactly the same thing.

But there is something about Hamilton that I just find unseemly. Earlier this year, he publicly questioned the wisdom of swapping engineers about. That led to the unprecedented set of circumstances whereby the team were forced to publicly defend their decision making process as they came under pressure from fans and the media to "support" Hamilton. Toto Wolff handled it with dignity, but it was obviously humiliating for the team. You can't expect anyone to believe that Hamilton had no idea what was going to happen when he made those comments. He undermined the team and caused a lot of embarrassment for the faintest promise of an advantage. There's ruthlessness and then there's this - a completely unsporting move that showed a complete lack of respect for every single person in the team.

I as a general rule try to avoid posting in the F1 threads as much as possible due to the constant bickering about Hamilton overtaking any logical conversation that could have taken place.

However the irony of what you have posted has drawn me out.
The way you feel about Hamilton's fans is the exact feeling we all have about you.

Even when Hamilton is in the right you will tirelessly antagonize every movement he makes on and off the track.

And what are you expecting to achieve with this comment? That I will scamper away with my tail between my legs, re-evaluate my position and come back praising Hamilton, or at least feel more neutral towards him?

Sorry, but you've wasted your breath. I am not going to fundamentally change what I believe and value simply because my current position is mildly irritating or inconvenient towards others. You are under no obligation to pay any attention to anything I say. Don't be so condescending as to expect that I will change an unpopular opinion for your sake when I already extend you every courtesy in tolerating opinions that I feel are built on a flawed premise without feeling the need to attack you for it.

Quali delayed then I'll bet.

Also on the C4 coverage Whiting clarified the radio stuff, he said if someone broke the rules a la Rosberg it would have to now be a drive-through penalty to match the new self-imposed penalty they were supposed to take. In other words there won't be a benefit to just breaking the rules and only getting a 10s penalty, he made it clear if you want to use radio you either do it in the pits or get a penalty equivalent to using the pits.

I wish they would stop delaying things due to rain, race control are airing way too much on the side of caution.

It's worse here than in Silverstone. And the circuit is thirty years old; it doesn't drain very well - there are enormous puddles of standing water.

I do agree with the over-emphasis on caution, though. These are supposed to be the twenty-two best drivers in the world, and with all the modern safety advances in car and circuit design, you would think that they can be trusted not to do anything stupid.

I think they are not giving the drivers credit enough for their abilities, they can deal with rain like this, especially as it's qualifying. I was listening on radio and now watching it on CH4. It doesn't seem that bad now, maybe it was a lot worse a little bit earlier.

I do have to say I don't remember many races in the 90's and 00's which had delayed starts due to rain. They used to let them start with it bucketing down!

The drivers might be able to, the cars can't. These conditions are awful, you can't even see the track let alone the cars.

Delaying is the correct answer, there is nothing to gain seeing who can drive around at 40mph and not be unlucky to aquaplane.

Rosberg 20th, Hamilton 21st - now THAT would be an interesting race to watch.

Ah we know how Lewis gets on from the back at this track. People called it messy though (it was at moments) so not sure, but to see Rosberg do it as well would be fun. Kimi in the drop zone too. Nasr currently 4th "please Sauber we can keep this up"

I've not seen this many red flags since the attempted coup in Turkey...
