Sorry guys....https://ar12gaming.com/articles/forza-7-toyota

Toyota Production vehicles are out. Race vehicles to be revealed later this summer.

Looks like it's a VW situation all over again

Licensing for 90+ Manufacturers and 700 cars has it's drawbacks unfortunately :(

Hmmm that sure is some weird news. VW not being in FH3 is something you could blame on diesel-gate. But Toyota not in FM7, I really don't get it. Project CARS 2 and GT:S will both have the GT86, heck even CSR2 has it (released summer 2016). Could PD be onto something here? Taking an exclusive on Toyota production vehicles like what they did with the Pikes Peak Hillclimb? But maybe allowing the GT86 to slip through, hence why it's in the other games? If that's the case well then that is absolutely repulsive and I won't support such sillyness at all. My main racing game for fall 2017 for sure is Project CARS 2 but I'm keeping an eye on both FM7 and GT:S, I might still get them on holiday sales in 2018. But if PD is pulling such stunts off, no way I will get their game. If they want to be the leader in the industry by all means do it by creating an industry leading title, not by blocking other games from content which is just retarded...

I really disliked VW not being in FH3 and thought FM7 would at least be the most complete car collection game but now something is missing again, sigh. And honestly I care more about Toyota road cars than VW road cars.

Here are all the production Toyota's from FH2/3 and FM5/6. You don't have to be a Toyota fan to miss some great cars in there, my favorites are in bold, and I'm not a Toyota fan, just a car fan.

1969 Toyota 2000GT
1973 Toyota Corolla SR5
1974 Toyota Celica GT
1979 Toyota FJ40
1985 Toyota Sprinter Trueno GT Apex
(with the friggin' correct front bumper last seen in Forza 5...)
1989 Toyota MR2 SC
1992 Toyota Supra 2.0 GT Twin Turbo
1992 Toyota Celica GT-Four RC ST185
1994 Toyota Celica GT-Four ST205
1995 Toyota MR2 GT
1998 Toyota Supra RZ
2003 Toyota Celica SS-I

2007 Toyota Hilux Arctic Trucks AT38
2012 Toyota FJ Cruiser (in FH1)
2013 Toyota GT86 (the Subaru BRZ is in though, that's at least a relief)

I absolutely loved that Toyota 2000GT in GT6 and both the MR2s in FH2 (already found it odd they were not in FH3 and for sure I missed them). And the GT86, that is just a must have on any modern affordable sports car top 10 list IMO. The old FJ40 barn find in FH3 was great as well and the Supra... it just looks so great in black. ;) Personally I don't care much at all for the Hillux though but it seems a lot of other people do.

Really sad to not see Toyota road vehicles in. And it's not that Microsoft doesn't have the money since they got the Suzuka circuit in and that was so expensive to license it's not coming to PCARS2 even though Ian Bell would have loved to get the track in.

If money is not the reason... my prime suspect really is PD and if that's true it would be really lame...

Why does every other major racing game have all the main big manufacturers plus they keep adding new ones, but Forza starts losing them without any reason?

I can't think of a single logical explanation for this, like do Microsoft and T10 don't give a damn anymore or something?

It may just be down to contracts and the time needed to negotiate them. Forza is the only racing franchise that has a large roster and an annual release schedule, which adds quite a few complications other games don't have to deal with. I'm going to guess T10/PG aims for multi-title licensing deals to save time so it's possible VW's deal was up between FM6 and FH3 and they simply didn't get a deal done in time. I guess we'll have to see how this Toyota thing plays out, it does seem odd to not have production cars.

That's a shame; given the choice between Volkswagen and Toyota I'd rather drive Toyotas as they're more tuner-friendly.

At least we got a Microsoft statement today rather than hanging on in futile hope for a few weeks, and at the very least we'll still have the race cars and the BRZ to enjoy.

The BRZ is not a rebadged Toyota though. The car was engineered by Subaru while Toyota helped with funding and styling.

I was thinking about what cars I would like to see Forza Edition versions of and one thing that stuck out is race cars. Since wide body kits aren't an option, I would love to see FE versions of race cars featuring a special livery along the lines of GT's stealth cars (and less like the 10th anniversary scheme).

I am looking forward to seeing how they have Forzathon and Forza Edition cars set up though, hopefully they utilize rivals for both (just make them obtainable unlike the Mechberg challenges).

Looking at GT:S, PC2 and even NFS Payback, Toyota is poorly represented pretty much everywhere, if we're talking about games that are not yet out at least. GT:S has effectively 4 cars with grouping variations and only one of them is an actual road car, the 86 (the S-FR is not out yet), PC2 has so far multiple variants of the 86 but an actual total of 3 different cars, and NFS so far only has the 86. Notice a pattern here? It's like Toyota wants people to forget they made sporty roadcars before the 86 came out. I'm betting the T10 people didn't want to include just the 86 but Toyota did, and that's where the whole thing fell apart.

Even if they just port over the FM6 racecars without adding anything (doubtful but plausible), you end up with 5 different models (14 if you count the Avensis and NASCAR liveries as separate cars) so even without the roadcars, FM7 will still represent the brand better than its competitors. Which shows you just how boring Toyota's roadgoing lineup currently is.

Sans a 95 or 97 MR2, a 97 Supra and the 03 Celica, I couldn't care less about Toyboata.

My primary disappointment in that list is a lack of a 2006-2012 Eclipse. Being that I owned one for a while, and GT never had one past PS2 quality, I was really hoping for it.
Oh and the Lexus LFA and IS-F aren't bad, but Lexus has always been better than Toyota in my eyes.

I guess for people used to FM, these lists are disappointing, but for me, I'm like a kid in a candy store.

For real life: Yes. But in Forza? IIRC the cars have identical stats so I think for Turn 10 it's just copy/paste. :)

You could be right but I think those games mainly focus on the newer cars anyway and there the GT86 is about all Toyota has (leaving Lexus out for discussion, it's a different brand to license). GT:Sport doesn't have any classic car apart from the Audi S1 E2 I believe and while Project CARS 2 has classic cars, the majority of them are race cars. The amount of classic road cars can be counted on 1 hand (http://forum.projectcarsgame.com/sh...L-car-list-at-launch-Sept-22nd-(all-197-cars)). I don't know much about the new NFS but the one from 2015 had 3 Toyota's (GT86, Supra, Sprinter Trueno) so it will be interesting to see how this topic evolves over there.

But indeed I'm sure T10 wanted to include them and I bet they are gutted just as much as Playground was with VW a year ago. Especially since all the hard work for those 10+ Toyota cars has already been done.

Maybe Toyota just doesn't like astronauts driving their cars. :P:P:P

What is also curious is that the FH3 Logitech G car pack included the 1992 Supra 2.0 GT Twin Turbo as a brand new Toyota road car, that pack released in December 2016. Development of it started 6 months earlier (June 2016) so I think back then everything was still fine. I'm sure Turn 10 wants to use the cars they design in both game series if they want, so if they knew in June 2016 that this car would not be licensed for FM7 I think they would have just chosen another car to be honest.

Still disappointed by this even if I won't buy the game initially, I want FM7 to be the ultimate car collection game. But I appreciate Microsoft's honesty about it instead of staying silent about it until shortly before release (like what happened with VW).

The '65 Toyota Sports 800 appeared in the FH3 dev build a couple of months ago. Wonder what will happen to that one.

Random theory time: Perhaps Toyota are trying to raise the profile of their Gazoo Racing division? A number of recent Toyotas/Lexi have been converted to race cars by GR including the GT86, C-HR, RC-F, LFA and most notably the Microsoft-sponsored Yaris WRC.

Wow, I should stay off the internet when drunk. I'm not proud for snapping like that out of nowhere, sorry y'all. At least my grammar was still on point...

Now that I gave this situation some thought with a sober mind, I can say that while it is a terrible loss, I'm sure that we will survive somehow.

Losing any manufacturer is a big deal, especially one as big as Toyota, but at least we'll still have the race cars to play with, so it's better than nothing.

I just don't understand Toyota's decision regarding this, and I don't understand why they have to drag Lexus down with them even if they are owned by them...

Scion is also dragged down. Going to miss the interesting Scion tC.

There is a bright side though, that means there's going to be more new cars than expected if you can remove all of the non-Racecar Toyotas.

I'm thinking that too, since there were around 15 road going Toyota cars, that does open up some space for new or returning cars.

So far we have what, 5 completely new cars to the franchise? Hopefully Turn 10 will come through with the German and race car reveals.

Honestly, a well rounded car list means more to me than surpassing the 700 mark. FM6 ended up having most cars I could ever want in a racing game. All I asked from FM7 was further perfection of this. Even if losing Toyota may be out of Turn 10's control, my feeling is now bitter like those "you had one job" mistakes.

I'll miss the st185, st205, aw11, and sw20

No idea what any of that means.

I thought I'd quickly post toyota's (& lexus) representation in past & upcoming video games (this generation) to see if we can see any kind of pattern

Gran Turismo Sport: ONE Toyota road car in it - the 2015 86. Also features two versions of the S-FR Concept and two Vision Gran Turismo models.

Need for Speed Payback: The list I found from AR12, so again, neither official nor complete, has ZERO Toyota models in it, however, IGCD supposedly found a GT86. Personally, I don't find it too convincing (especially as no badge is even shown) but I figured I'd put it here anyway.

The Crew 2: There is no official car list as of yet, and this is still a work-in-progress, but IGCD lists ZERO Toyota models in it.

Project Cars 2: The only road going Toyota's in PCARS2 are variants of the GT86(left and right hand drive plus rocket bunny body kit fitted versions for street and GT4 classes)

There are also no Lexus' in PCARS, The Crew 2 or NFS Payback so far. Only 1 Production Lexus is in GTSport (The RC-F)

Other Games this Gen:

Driveclub (Evolution Studios (RIP)) - No Toyota/Lexus/Scion
The Crew - No Toyota/Lexus/Scion
NFS 2015 - 3 Toyotas (Supra, AE86, GT86) but no Lexus. 1 Scion
Dirt 4 - No Toyotas
Dirt Rally - No Toyotas
Asseto Corsa - Toyota's through DLC. GT86's + Supras. No Scions/Lexus.

Any I'm missing?

Scion is a Toyota brand too.

You missed FH2, FM5, FM6, and FH3. (I believe all have Toyota road cars, dk what's dlc and what isn't)

I'll add Scion's in (though I don't think it changes anything really)

I was excluding the past Forza games, was more looking at other game's agreements w/Toyota,

It adds to the oddity that every Forza game this generation has had them until now.

My guess is Toyota got a big head about licensing, and game devs who monitor car usage in their games can clearly see they aren't that popular.

Toyota may be the biggest manufacture, but they're also arguably the most boring.
For example, there hasn't been a Toyota that excited me since they cancelled the Celica. (And I know Im not the only one, granted there are avid fans, just not like other brands)

Assetto Corsa also got the AE86 last year. Recently they also added an old Celica rally car to the game, but this was probably licensed through Toyota's motorsports division along with the TS040 Hybrid.

Automobilista has a Brazilian touring car based on a late model Corolla, but no road cars.

RaceRoom Racing Experience
has no vehicles from Toyota or its sister brands.
