Talking to some GT fans is like trying to talk to a cult member, you praise GT for the presentation, graphics and multiplayer but question the career and they find a way to defend PD. I'll cut T10 some slack for using old car models IF all this time has really been spent on reworking the engine, upgrade systems and AI, otherwise..
Its not even just the car models lol
they are judging even trees on side of the track lmao, its pathetic

it is PC or console? i wonder if Consoles will have downgrade vs PC like FH5 had

Is that a widebody LFA

So I'm still thinking about the lighting model from the FM(2023) demo - which if you remember was quoted as "all in game visuals of this demo are from the Series X", not the PC.

Today I compared FM7 on the Series X with HDR enabled (remember this is the One X enhanced version so totally doesn't use the power of the Series X) with FM7 on the PC with all settings maxed on Ultra and HDR enabled.

  • I find the Xbox FM7 is very hard to tune with HDR. Unlike FH4/FH5 I can't get the black and white points tuned well. On the PC tuning HDR is easy.
  • The Xbox FM7 clearly lacks in terms of antialiasing, scenery density, but also HDR lighting model compared to the PC.
  • PC FM7 in ultra mode is considerably less taxing on a PC than FH5 in ultra mode (let alone extreme mode), so the Series X could definitely deliver PC ultra performance comfortably.
In fact, where Xbox FM7 lighting model breaks down and looks pretty plastic at many times of day (midday, dusk, dawn, night), the PC version holds up much better and the car lighting looks pretty realistic most of the time. The worst offender on the PC for suspension of disbelief is probably the wheels in motion, they still look a bit odd.

From where I stand, PC FM7 in ultra mode with HDR enabled looks better in almost all areas (except quality of trackside objects and hopefully the physics) than demo FM(2023). So I'm even more convinced that there's a lot still to be found for FM(2023) on the Xbox Series X, let alone on the PC.

Same can actully also be said about forza fanboys both sides can get really silly, forza fans also find way you defend the bad car models in forza

Both have stuff they can learn from each other, gran turismo could use drivetrain swaps, and drag slicks including the option to make wider tyres,
Forza, i know they upgrades will change in both audio and perfomence just as gran turismo, but will exhaust change in apperance like in gt7 previous forza has not and i doubt they will in new motorsport, witch are fantastic detail in gt7, forza could also learn and rescan those bad models, both those things both right and wrong
Us Forza fanboys are heavily outnumbered though lol nah I've actually played GT 2 - 6. But because I see some people complain about certain aspects of GT games that Forza imo do better, I just hate to see some totally dismiss the series without even looking into it. As for the car models, I've already said months ago, I don't mind the old car models and wouldn't even notice them except they seem to be shown at a different angle in chase cam. And both series could also learn from Project Cars 2, how many games and classic cars between them?.. 'Do you even run historic tracks bruh'

I've put together (okay, mild lie, I've been putting it together since LAST JUNE) a Forza Motorsport Guide like we've done for other games.

If there's anything you think I might have missed off (and I may well have done), please do let me know.

I'm not currently adding the seen-but-not-added-officially cars or tracks (except Eaglerock Speedway, which is extensively shown), as it's just excessive at this point, but I may in the future. I suspect T10 will be announcing more before I get round to it though - there's an average of 3.1 cars a day to be announced until the game launches so I expect we'll see more soon.

Funny enough, last night I just did this test to see what FPS I would get by maxing everything, ultra everything. My PC runs ACC over 100FPS, AMS2 over 100FPS. On FM7 I got 30FPS and UNDER. LOL
It was an absolute slide show in the corners. Backed resolution scale from 200% to 150%, lowered mirror and reflections from ultra to high, dropped MSAA from max to 4x and I was back above 100FPS.

I would say it's very taxing and I wouldn't agree that a Series X could run PC Performance comfortably at all.

Why would you run resolution scale above 100%? On consoles it'll probably run dynamically at 4k between 66%-100%, but never over 100% surely?

(edit: I run it at 100% resolution scale with all settings max. 8x MSAA does a great job of smoothing jaggies at native resolution)

Full Ultra settings, 4K, HDR, and I get 100-120 fps. Full 24 cars, rain, Nurburgring. up to 140 fps on cockpit.

i5-9600k and a RTX 3080.

I then went to Spa and got 160-190 fps lol.

One thing from the official car list I don't understand is in the early images and trailers both the Cadillac and Acura DPi's are shown but they are not listed. (yet I guess?)

The marketing with forza motorsport was that it would be built from the ground up, thats also why you see people conplain about some of car models becouse you then dont expect to see car models that are 2 gen behind, so those complaints are more than warrented if they going market it as game built from the ground up,
The career mode is what looks really good With next forza motorsport and thats the reason i buy it,

The things that was great with pc2 was the huge track list, but in many ways its far behind both forza motorsport and gran turismo

Cars were removed from the base game for a reason we still don't know but maybe they'll come back in paid dlc's

Given the 'built from the ground up' marketing, a fraction of the models being the same incorrect ones and the lack of full of wheel turning are in eyesores. The new tire model, tires & fuel simulations, race regulations, penalties, structured career mode, Turn tutorials ect. were long requested features that i've been asking for that actually effect gameplay.

I just dont see how from the perspective of a sim racer wanting a simcade game that has enough sim aspects to keep you entertained as in between game, or a casual racer who wants something more sim like to dip their toes in before they bite the sim bullet, they'd pass on this game because of eyesores while ignoring the actual meat and potatoes. Frankly those types wouldn't like GT7 either based on the same credentials

That car and track list are horrible. I’m hoping that there are more that just aren’t listed. Because so far GT7 has a better car and track list at this point.
This is only 1/4th of the true car list at release dont worry theres way more to come.

As RolexGTP said, the car list is temporary, it's only what we know for now; the game has yet to come out and they have promised about 500 cars, which should be about the same as what GT7 will have when FM releases. I'm not sure exactly how many tracks GT7 has (I've seen 63 thrown around, can someone confirm if that's accurate) so that's the only thing that seems likely FM will have a lot less of.

i Really hope they put Eagle Rock Speedway, we need more ovals on the game specially if they will bring at least the Buick GNX

Eagle Rock Speedway featured a lot in the Trailer but was not added to the Official Track List, which makes me wonder if it could be a variation of track Layout

The exhaust looks like it doesn’t change from the video… So we will have 500hp tuned up cars with little stock exhaust…😭😭😭 You also can make the tires wider and give them offset in GT7… FM options are better for tire width though always love that about FM…. I’m hope I’m wrong.. but the customization seem to be the same from all the FM series which is kinda sad… I was hoping to get a new system or at least new goodies!
Yeah, bit of a bummer, but that's hopefully where some good aftermarket kits come in to help sell the illusion.

However, if they're also at least doing what FH5 did & actually changing the exhaust notes, that's a good step forward over 7.

What resolution? What GPU are you using?

So the game can resolve the image in higher quality. It's practically no different than using SSAA (Super Sampling Anti-Aliasing); the game renders the scenes at a higher resolution than your monitor supports and then downsamples it back to the native resolution, with the result being a more detailed, sharper image.

RTX 2080 Super. 4K. I'm now thinking I had some stuff running in the background still open. Will test again here in a couple mins.
Had almost pulled the trigger on a 4080 a couple times now but Still waiting on a lower price. I'm getting good enough results right now.

8K on a 2080S might be pushing. I'm not entirely sure I can run it at 4K with 200% scaling and I have a 6900XT.

There must have been something wrong with your FM7 installation since it runs great at 4k 60 on a potato PC:

Intel Pentium G4560, 1050ti

Well resolution scaling affects the entire image, whereas antialiasing is more targeted, so I assumed resolution scaling suffers a larger performance penalty. But I guess I'll check and see since I've never bothered trying it as the image has almost no jaggies with 100% and 8x MSAA in the first place.

Is there any visible benefit to using both resolution scaling and MSAA at the same time?
