Sedona was another Speedway I liked. The oval was fast but narrow. And it could be connected to the Sedona road course next to it for some extra long racing. I think losing long tracks like Sedona, the Camino Viejo de Monserrat complex, Rally di Positano, Benchmark High Speed Ring, Sidewinder Proving Grounds, and, yes, Fujimi Kaido, may be a big reason why FM5 and 6 felt like a step backwards, despite the much better visuals.
I didn't mind the Sedona road course except for that one turn where the sun was shining right in your eyes. I was convinced the devs were trolling me.

I felt the same thing with VIR. There was one particular starting time where the sunlight is right in your eyes going into turn 1. Like it's barely coming over the treetops. Each time I saw that I quit the race and reloaded to get out of that.

I’m not expecting it but I loved Sunset Infield so much back in the day before the likes of Daytona & Miami were added.

You could vote for the track on the Forza Forums

If FM2023 has 20 locations at launch, I would expect only 4-5 fantasy tracks to match the previous offering. Unlike GT7 which has a significant focus on their own tracks.

I think that due some licensing issues, this game will have more fantasy tracks than FM7, something more akin to FM4 that had LOTS of fantasy tracks

Still quite sad we won't be seeing any 360 fantasy tracks return at launch (Aside from maple valley kind of?).
They are focusing on update the Xbox One tracks first, then i think they will make new versions of 360 tracks
Just a prorities thing

I like Sedona was a mix of Bristol and Indianapolis Raceway Park, the road circuits were fun a lot, both the Roval short, Roval Long and the Club circuit that was outside the oval

really? why? he has messed up resolutions in the past
Some people of the DF team tends to be a bit biased sometimes, and they also did some critical mistakes on past as well
But is just a opinion of mine, you can like whatever you want like

Isn't it interesting that there is an Alfa Romeo 8C in that pic? Not saying it's hinting at anything, but I'm intrigued that there's one there under the Forza brand via hot wheels. 🤔

My main concern is not about the game itself really, it's more about why it has taken SIX years.
Yes, It takes a little bit longer than the cycle time (5 years) of normal auto industry model refresh. If T10 can bring more next generation tech into the game, It will be worth to wait.
During the waiting time, there are other racing games for us to play. The developers can cross reference those other games like GT7 as well.

Because of the scale and details of AAA games nowadays especially games like Forza with huge amount of content or open world titel with large worlds. I would say that 5-7 or even 8 years development time is what to expect and normal nowadays.

I would ask a different question.
How long does it take to make a new game engine? To redo the physics? To rebuild 20 tracks? To improve the AI? To implement a new penalty system and who knows what else they still need to show? A year? Two maybe? Six is too much?
I don't make games so I don't know. But I do know that in 6 years you can make a lot of sandwiches! Like a lot!! 🤣

If there are any Hot Wheels vehicles that need to be featured in FM8, it's definitely the Hot Wheels Mustang and the Bad to the Blade. Imagine a fast-paced one-make series with the Bad to the Blade in order to scratch that open-wheel racing itch.

That way, these machines fit the theme of Motorsport very well.

The engine alone is a multi-year project, before you even consider the rest. Forza’s asset production is probably a multi-year one too (different teams) due to sheer quantity. I think 5 years (because the first year was them patching the last game) is a fair estimate for what we think we’re getting.

I imagine the pandemic also had a knock on effect on development time.

I am already anxious to next Forza Monthly, want to know more and more about the game since we wont able to play it until october

Still 4 months left oof....

Just go back to FM7 for a bit.

I've 100%ed the solo career mode, but recently I've been having a lot of fun doing free races. Pick a fun division, let the game automatically select the track and random starting spot on the grid. It's good for grinding out the remaining cars I have yet to collect (just short of 800 unique cars so far).

Also I recently redid the HDR calibration for FM7 on my Xbox Series X. Previously I had set the gamma too high (trying to make the dark 1 in the black box clearly visible). I changed it to make the 1 only very vaguely visible and this had a really positive effect on the lighting model across the entire game - it's become a lot more photo realistic ever since, much closer to how it is on the PC.

20 locations is the worst part of FM especially when I was expecting 40. Many of the ones T10 showed weren’t tracks I wanted (to each their own) Fantasy tracks aren’t nearly as good as a real track. Do you want Porsche in the game or a car that looks similar to a Porsche. If they are going to make Fantasy tracks it should be at least over the top. The new oval track should of been a real track and Maple Valley should of been a scenic loop road. I could rant for a long time. Which I landed the job as the manager……..

Well some fantasy tracks offer unique things. I rather liked both the Bernese Alps and Prague tracks in FM7 because they offered visuals and a driving challenge which was not the norm from formal race tracks. On the other hand, I hate Maple Valley because of the stupid long slow corners :D

Unless they make a Fantasy track over the top and yes I agree add some great scenery it is a cheap filler. That is the point IRL tracks cost $$$ unfortunately but there is a reason why they do.

40 might be just a tad high expectation,
20 locations is a very small amount of tracks so that need to be expanded a lot, i hear people complain about lack of tracks in gt7 and thats a game With about 36 different locations,

Hyped for FM(8) i fired up FH5 and picked up the Rally and Hot Wheels expansions. FM7 crashed so many times on my PC I didn't bother redownloading that lol

honestly I dont understand why would someone buy Forza motorsport on pc. Like out of all the options out there why pick forza? I'm not attacking you I'm just curious. I'm moving from consoles to pc because Forza and gt are years behind compared to games like Iracing, Ac, rf2.... what makes Forza better?

The graphics, the car list, the superb controller experience, the overall career mode, the photomode and the community. I also play those hardcore sims, but i cannot install my wheel all the time since i don't have the space to leave it permanentely. Also sometimes its easier to pick up a controller and play the game and still have decent physics and amazing feedback from the controller. Also those games have super easy and high quality photomode which i love as a photographer. And playing those games at 4k with maxed out graphics looks amazing. And without mods there are no other racing games that come even close to the car list of Forza games. I play all types of racing games like Forza, GT, Dirt, NFS, AC, PC and TC, and i love them all for different reasons.

I can't speak for iRacing or RF2, but as much as I love Assetto Corsa for its ridiculous selection of car and track mods and its credible realistic handling (assuming you pick the right mods, at least), it's pretty much just a big sandbox with nothing in singleplayer mode that really feels special beyond that. You can do custom races and championships against AI that seems to range somewhere between adequate placeholder and completely broken, but the career mode is pretty much vestigial and most of the time it just feels kind of ephemeral accomplishing anything in singleplayer mode: oh neat I set a new personal best lap time or whatever. As for multiplayer, I'm still not skilled enough with a wheel to have any real confidence in joining a league unless there's some dedicated beginners group or something, and meanwhile from what I can gather 90% of multiplayer is limited to GT3 cars on Spa, GT3 cars on Nurburgring, a gaggle of drift servers, and a bunch of people trying to recreate Tokyo Xtreme Racer for some reason.

I dont agree about that, they are quite even just good on different aspects of physics model, you see a lot more controller users with forza motorsport campared to gran turismo, to me the cars feels more different to each other to drive in gt7 to any other forza motorsport title i have tried so far including fm7, we cant speak for the new motorsport until we tried it, just becouse chris isaki says its as good as any sim on the market dosen’t make it true

Ouch... shots fired.

I'm not going to enter that war but I hope Turn 10 can at least improve upon FM7's physics with their game.

Not sure what the control scheme used has to do with the quality of the physics.

Um, you buy Forza digitally and can run it on Xbox, PC and streaming with a single license. And your progress is saved across all 3. It works great, I've used my save constantly swapping around between these options.

name any 3rd party race series which offers that same service?

apart from that, Forza offers huge licensed car lists and a vast car upgrading sandbox. Plus amazing console controller support, which is a life saver when you want to race but don't have WAF to use a wheel (or just want to sit on the sofa and relax in Horizon). You play it to enjoy the cars, not to sit with a wheel and aim for that couple of tenths around the track.
