People can compare stats and features of the 2 games until the end of time. It's the things you cant pin down with numbers that make the difference, i.e the intangible.
When I drive a car in GT5 it really comes alive, its as though the cars have character, soul, passion etc...
No other sim portrays this to me like GT does, I think it has a lot to do with the cinematography, presentation and exquisite attention to detail. It's worth noting that Yamauchi originally wanted to be a film director and I think it really shows in his games.
When I play Forza I don't experience this, I feel like everything is clinical and mathematical.
Obviously this is purely subjective but this is why I preference GT.
I'll be getting Forza 3 when it releases, but really it will be more of a put me off until GT5 is finished. They are both excellent games and really there is no concrete reason to prefer one over the other.
