We have a forum for XBox360 games - and even one specifically for Forza 2. We just don't have a Forza 3 specific forum yet. Though there is a 1,200-post thread about it.

I've been a member here how long? I know that. However as I stated in the thread I created regarding Forzaplanet.net, no news is really delivered by the site itself. GTP is clearly a Gran Turismo fan site, and I still think having Forzaplanet.net linked here is dishonest...although Jordan said not to many people go there.

More people here are interested in GT than FM. Oddly some people are more interested in FM than GT. Even oddlier, there are some people who don't actually have any interest in either...

But we still provide information and conversation about FM - which I think you'll agree is not only unusual for a single-game-series website but quite rare for a single-game-series website that is generally perceived to be a direct rival...

I never said it wasn't odd, although trying to discuss the pros of a rival product on this site (or any fan site for that matter) is often a chore. It all behaves how I would expect it to...at least to a degree.

The original Forza was only 30fps, so i understand his reasoning. He probably didn't even consder it a game lol. I need to find that interview where he talks about the importance of 60fps.

Just curious but how do you figure I'm a fanboy?
I don't like the way PD runs their company though, we are promised things which don't get delivered (all games do this though) and the amount of development time seems unreasonable to me.

Well, the statement in bold above is a pretty good reason - you are on a Gran Turismo fan site saying that you don't like the way the company that makes that very game runs their company; you feel they are dishonest and you feel they take an unreasonable amount of time making games.

With all your PD bashing, it seems like you may be rooting for an opposing game, thus making you sound like a fanboy. It's cool though. :sly:

I had to stand up and then sit down again for this one.

How is that dishonest? That's like saying receiving a birthday present is dishonest, because you didn't earn it.

:dunce:

From what I've seen of typical fansites, any attempt to discuss rival products is discouraged and generally results in abuse from members and discipline from staff.

Imagine "GT5 Definitive Trailer: AKA Why we are better than FM3 w Pro Racer Testimonials." on a Forza fansite. Or "Ford Definitive Trailer: AKA Why we are better than Holden w Pro Racer Testimonials." on a Holden website...

Sometimes I take the freedom of GTP for granted. Generally a visit to a typical fansite cures that - you know I once saw a guy on a forum for the Peugeot 206 abused with some of the most degrading language you can imagine by staff for saying he'd "upgraded" from his 206 to a VW Golf?

Those are some bold statements considering you've only been here a few months. I've been here for 7 years. Why on earth would I keep coming back to GTP for 7 years if I didn't enjoy the GT series? To this day I still play GT3 and to a lesser extent GT4 and love it.

No I don't like the way PD is ran, yes I feel that they are dishonest to their fans sometimes, and I'm fairly confident their development cycle is a bit absurd. This does not make me not want to own their products though, because I am still entertained by them. Every company has their faults, if I couldn't look past them then I wouldn't really have anything in my life.

And since you know so much about me and my posting, I'm sure you've seen my posts regarding my dislike of how we were lied to with Forza 2 and how lame the DLC was.

I had to stand up and then sit down again for this one.

Forzaplanet.net links to GTPlanet.net, which as you may know is a Gran Turismo fan site. That seems dishonest to me, but as Jordan has told me not to many people ever wonder onto the link forzaplanet.net.

I do realise GTP is better than most fansite, but it still has its unavoidable problems. Case in point the two posts I quoted above. I don't like the way PD conducts themselves, because of that I'm labelled a fanboy. That doesn't make sense to me. Not that I really care, it just makes it clearer to me that GTP isn't as free as people may think...however as I've said it's freer than most.

I couldn't agree more.

This is by far the most laid back, fair and tolerant fan site that I have ever been to. It's like being on vacation posting here! :sly:

+1 👍

In was in an answer about a question regarding Forza, I would wager he was referring to it.

What you would wager is completely immaterial. Even what he likely meant is immaterial. To misquote like that is extremely dishonest. Quote enough to allow people to come to their own conclusion of what he meant.

I'm sick and tired of all this "fanboy" talk. 👎

Yeah, it is getting old.

Nothing good will really come from this thread. Everyone argues every couple of posts and no one acknowledges anyone having a point that shuts their own attempt down - so it's just a cycle of anger at this juncture.

Maybe we have outgrown this thread? :indiff:

I'd love to play FM3, I enjoyed what little of FM2 I played. I just refuse to buy another 360.

Well, let me spell out for some of you why I think Forza 2 at least is of lesser quality.
  • Incorrect physics - nearly every single car oversteers, vs real life where most cars understeer.
  • Skids can be stopped with a single jerk on the wheel controller.
  • Collisions with simulation damage causing the game to pause for a moment while the 360 figures out what to render, which for me is rather jarring and distasteful.
  • Inaccurate car models, and some components just flat out misplaced, such as when you race mod a Ford GT, and the nose whisker is missing from the right side.
  • Bugs, such as the game crashing while scrolling through the garage. Game crashing while in the Auction House can get you permabanned until you can get a mod's attention. Bugs in the livery editor which cause layers to shift around when you take the car from the garage.
  • Numerous leaderboard wipes, when unfair physics loopholes are found and the game patched.
And that's just off the top of my head. Others have commented on how easy it is to drift in Forza, how you can start off in top gear and still put in a respectable lap, and numerous other issues.

It's just like Paladin who absolutely loves the flaws and quirks from FM2, such as the truck tire sounds on every car. Forza fans will ignore almost every issue, while sneering at everything they can think of in Gran Turismo.

Do people complain about issues with GT? Well, you haven't been here long if you haven't seen any.

Only after he was asked. Now matter how you try and dress it up it is still wrong.

Look, my recollection of that quote was from a couple of years ago, I remember the ooh-ahh that arose from it, no-one disputed the meaning of it at the time.

But, I did put the words 'forza' in brackets to indicate that it was implied, not spoken, and I'm sure any reasonable person can see exactly what Kaz was implying about the competition (which includes Forza).

That is all.

That may be true, but as far as impartial comparative reviews go, the SRT review is about all there is, and it looks far more 'equal' then someones opinion on here does it not?

someone should ask michael schumaker to play both games and pick the one with the most realistic physics.....i would love to see how the fanboys on both sides reacted to that news.

Tenacious D would have a burning effigy set aside just in case lol

SRTs opinion not equal fact.

EDIT: Michael Schumacher could only judge the Formula 1 cars better than other people. ;)

Better wait for the Top Gear review. :dopey:

Yes because those are the only type of car Michael has ever driven on the limit.....wtf

Well...not exactly. All racing drivers end up pushing their daily commute cars to the limit at some point, trust me.

Doesn't mean that they will be good at it :dopey:

Just kidding, nothing in that story mentioned anything about him pushing the Fiat to the limit.

Anyways I think any F1 driver will be able to put decent lap times in any powered 4 wheeled vehicle. Let alone do that in a simulation software (condition that it enjoys decent physics of course) ;)
