What a surprise, me quitting again due to massive lack of talent and inability to not hit any damn thing on the race track. I've just decided to remove myself before I became a bigger problem. I don't even know now if I want to come back to the other races.
The series is about consistency, not outright speed. If you have both, then you will do very well. I only made 1 on track overtake for position tonight, in many other previous rounds I have made 0.

I always struggled in a previous seasons because I always had to keep pitting from heavy damage. So I practiced driving the track for like an hour just by myself so I knew every corner. I set my car up so it didn't oversteer like crazy, drove a practice race stint. Yes having a little oversteer makes you faster, but it also increases the likelihood of a crash on worn tyres.

Now while I am certainly doing better than last season I am still making mistakes, but nowhere near as many. You should set yourself the objective of going an entire race without crashing, doesn't matter where you finish. If you find it too hard, try a different race that is only an hour long (the WRS is good) until you are comfortable with them and then work your way onto the longer races.

5th outta 5 in GT-P. I think i'm just over the hill now

I am impressed you actually did the whole race and didn't park it this time:lol:

Spent much of the early race (almost the first hour) practising and was well off the pace, improved by 2.6 seconds in the second stint and closed down on Siggers. Then the tyres died and the gap stayed around 2 seconds.

Last few weeks have been extremely demoralising for me and also i've not been able to totally focus due to personal reasons.

You scared me when lapping you at Falken, I had no clue where you were going

I made the mistake of just cruising out in front for the first 40mins, looking at the replay I let rofl catch me by 2secs a lap. Once he got past I crashed pushing to keep up. So I basically handed him the win, but he was the fastest driver so well deserved. Snow running into the back of me and pushing me off didn't help either.

How did you end up no damage? I took damage trying to pass you while you were trying to save it down the esses. It wasn't as big a hit as I thought I guess.

Your car is french and you are asking why it fell apart

Surprised to see the Alpine as quick as it was tonight, good show 👍

That's what aggravates me the most: I'm on a track I feel I've put a good amount of laps on and knowing that I wasn't fast, I felt I had no reason to crash. I put together decent lap and Wham!, I'm staring at a wall. I move over to let the faster cars by and Boom! another wall. I'm not even making ANY aggressive racing maneuvers yet somehow, I keep finding the wall or the grass and would have so much damage, Moving was hell. It really upsets me because this is exactly the sort of driving I always strived to avoid doing and here I am, driving like I have no idea what the hell I'm doing. To me, its embarrassing because I've raced WAY better then this before.

Well, if it's P class you are on about... they are supposed to go around you...

I didn't mean that. I mean I'm angry at myself because I can't keep the car on track despite not being fast AND trying to stay out of the way.

What tune are you using? @snowgt has base set ups...

Setups for GT-O...

Ferrari 250GTO: Setup

Corvette C3: Setup

Shelby Cobra (works for Chromeline): Setup

Alpine A110 '72: Setup

Plymouth Cuda: I have no idea where my setup came from, but here are a couple to try...

Oh shoot. I got sideways and then saw you were coming so tried to avoid you then over corrected and slid across the track. It was only a brush on my end, net code must have been on my side. Sorry about that :(

Got to ask as we've not seen the Alpine up with a Cobra at the sharp end this season, how was the battle with you two? Such drastically different cars and yet BoP wise they seemed to work pretty well?

Nothing really special, just some stiff suspension settings. Honestly, its less setup related and just me having terrible time at trying to put together a lap without going off. I hit once and subsequently, it just keeps happening.

It's all good, realistically I should have waited for you to get it all battened down and then try to shoot by. Problem is I got impatient and just went for it because I knew I was pretty quick but I sure paid for that.

I think if you had picked another car from that time period that was that size it would have been so off pace no one would have really noticed it was there. The tiny and low body helped on the straights but the big engines pulled away until the draft came in. From the second corner to Conrod I picked up all the oodles of time lost from the lack of power.

The battle was sort of non happening, once I caught race he would pull on the straights and then I'd get it all back through the twisty bits and that went for a fair number of laps until the aforementioned incident. Great car though, if I had taken things seriously before 50 minutes to race time I might have gotten a very high 2:20 lap out of it. I'll be happy to drive that car again in any other event I can make.

And it uses no fuel

Did i mention pre season the Alpine clocked 189mph at le mans, some 10mph quicker than the Corvette and Plymouth?

No it certainly does not. I put in a bit on my first stop just to be sure I wouldn't run out and that was it, just tires after.

Last night's race left me a little frustrated. I still haven't had one good race at Bathurst, ever.

First I was able to build a small lead on @Siggers without risking too much in the dark, that is until I suddenly saw @Yeratel84 going slow on top of the mountain and had to queue behind him until Conrod. By that time Siggers had closed up and I had to helplessly watch him go by with the faster top speed of the GTO. Shortly after the same happened with @Roflwaffle . I wasn't slower than them, but I lost so much on straights and couldn't get past in corners. Then Roflwaffle spun coming out of the Chase and crashed into me, basically ending my plan of taking it easy and waiting for other people's mistakes.

What followed was one more crash that was caused by an over-eager GT-P appearing in the uphill hairpin, who appeared to be diving into the corner just as I was turning in, which made me open up my steering to avoid him, which in turn made me go into the wall. Motivation and concentration gone, I added another contact with the wall to that, followed by @LancerEvo7 losing it on top of the mountain just ahead of me a little later on, clipping and spinning me so that I stopped the wrong way around in a turn when Yeratel came through and had nowhere to go but to crash into my parked car.

I don't even recall all of the mishappenings, I did end up a lap down and right behind Siggers at one point though, him on older tyres and me trying to at least get the lap back and didn't account for his braking earlier and ran into his back in the last corner, causing him to go wide through the gravel, but fortunately the contact was too light to cause any damage. That was really embarrassing and I do apologise for that stupid move!

All in all, my race was so bad that I can't even really say how tyre wear would have been - my tyres never got the chance to get worn. Tyre wear is really low though at Bathurst, I didn't even get mine up to normal temperature, even when pushing (which is the reason it seemingly lasts forever). Anyway, I finished just to rake in some points - never know when I'm going to need them.

Tyre wear on the GTO was quite good, a lot better than Brands. Sorry, Snow about the crash, completely my fault. Also my stop on the penultimate lap was for fuel as I miscalculated it by 2 litres

Quali: Again quali in night. Pole went to Filo 2'01.0 - over 1s better time than mine (2nd).

Race: Started ok, but then on lap 6 I smashed to RaceCar who has parked on bad place (tight chicane in downhill). I didn't saw him there and when I saw him it was too late.
2nd pitstop came also too early on lap 15 when I hit the wall in uphill and got damaged. After that race went without any incident and damages but Filo was long way ahead and no way to catch him.
Finished 2nd and almost run out of fuel at the end.

Very fast fastest laptime in race Filo 2'00.3 - almost 2s faster than mine (2nd fastest).

I was dissapointed, pre race I was running 2:01's.

It's ok even the best drivers can't be clean all the time. Although I did lose about 10 seconds crawling out of the gravel which annoyingly was the gap to roflwaffle at the end haha, but it was more me going slow and having to make an extra stop that cost me the win.

I think with regards to un-lapping yourself, it should only be done if its clear you're going significantly faster than the other car. If not then its best to just drop back a little as having your mirrors full of a car is distracting enough, worse when its not for meaningful position.
