Why not make it "Gran Turismo day" the world seems to have a day for just about everything else, so Gran Turismo needs one.:sly:

no not a gran turismo day.... a gran turismo year.... like every 300 years a Gran Turismo game is released. Kind of in relation to an apocalypse when everyone goes crazy when the day comes...except we all know that nothing happens. lol

No stop it, these corporate people are spoiling my idea already, they have to ruin everything don't they. :sly:
On another note why is this thread still open, it's never going to be on topic as no one knows the release date, so it will just be full of people moaning about the fact there is no news and you can bet as soon as a release date is known, another thread will be opened anyway to announce it ( probably more than one ). So I see no reason for this thread, it surely may aswell be closed.

Appologies if this has been posted before but it looks like there's not going to be a release this year!

Still I guess it gives the PS3 a chance to drop price before I have to buy one ;)

It has been posted before. Many times. And this section alone:

Is there an ETA on GT 5?
It won't be this year and nothing's scheduled for next. It may be out in 2010, but like I said, we haven't really discussed it yet.

... should tell you that it's a 2008 interview.

we need to let polyphony, and SCEE realize that not releasing any info is bad for business.

we need to send a small piece of rubber to both companies, imagine if all gt fans did this, millions of envelopes with a piece of rubber!

its got many tv shows reinstated they didn't send rubber, they sent peanuts and also sesame seeds I think.
so if we did that I think we would at least get a progress update. I think its only fair we get some info a few pics, and a track list/car list and a rough release date.

so I say we start sending a small piece of rubber next Monday

Is PD note releasing info bad for business or just inconvenient for you and the other members who have zero patience? Lets hypothetically say that GT5 is released with features that the competition does not have. Lets also say that there has been constant updates and all of the whiners are "happy" because they know what is going on. Then lets say that the competition has been watching the development closely and copies these new features. Now, if a small percentage of people decline to buy GT5 because a competitor has approximately the same features (especially if the game is on a different console), that would be bad for business. Potentially less PS3 and GT5 sales doesn't sound like a smart business move to me.

Also GT5 is not a canceled TV show. We all know it is in development and should be thankful that PD is apparently hard at work finishing the game.

Please note that this is not a personal attack on you Seinfeld, but it is time for some people around here to buck up.

Keeping development on GT5 quiet is not damaging Sony or PD at all, in fact it's doing the opposite. Look how much speculation there is on this game, just because they haven't really released much in the way of solid facts or release dates. I really doubt it would have all this discussion if we knew more about it, just because people would already know. We're all hoping for so much, and after it's taken all this time, I severely doubt we're going to be let down.

PD blatantly have people reading boards like these, they know what they have to live up to, and frankly even if they don't I would bet money on 95% of people on these forums buying a copy of GT5 anyway! I mean, look how many paid for GT5p, half the price of a normal game for what (you'd hope) is far less than half the content of GT5.

So, basically, I for one am happy to wait for GT5, I know it's going to be worth waiting for, and at the same time I can accept the fanbase has grown hugely since GT4, so a lot of people weren't playing GT from the start; there's always been a long wait between the games, particularly when GT2 made the jump to GT4. I get the impression from racing online that a lot of the new players are really impatient anyway...!

Actually if anything I'm dreading the day GT5 comes out because then I'll have nothing else to look forward to!

If anything, not releasing any new info is keeping us hungry. Having a rabid fanbase that has a mob constantly hollering for more information assures Kaz and the lads that the intensity of hype and interest is high. Not releasing info as has been said before, also means that the cool touches remain unique to the game. In a way, I wish Prologue only had 8 car races, so that when GT5 itself was revealed with 16 cars on track at once, everyone would swallow their gum in shock. And then there would also be all the other goodies Kazunori-dono has in store for us.

We don't know when GT5 will be released. Many of us are thinking this year. But E3 is definitely very close. As I said before, if you want some evidence of what GT5 has in store for us, just fire up Prologue. Look at the cars. Race them. Tour the tracks and look at the details, and how things have been improving with the updates. What's better for you? A screen grab of a track, or a track you can interact with? A high res pic of a car, or a car you can race with and adjust parameters on? Frankly, the hands on stuff suits me much better. ;)

I think a screenshot or two of a new car is'nt going to hurt anyone, and will reassure heartbroken fans that PD is in fact browsing through forums( like they say they are) looking for user feedback.

It would certainly ease the pain of alot of fans and help to make the wait bearable.....but the ball is firmly in PD's court and i doubt sending letters etc to them would cause them to act.

Word African Kat... I would write the same thing right now...

1 or 2 new screenshots wouldn´t give infos to the competitors (I think Forza 3 is the most important) and wouldn´t kill PD...

Er, yeah...

"Hey! They sent a screenshot to Jordan!"

"Hrm.... yeah, ONE screenshot. And it's a Skyline..."

"Yeah, bummer... but it's a MINES Skyline at least.. But just ONE?? CUMON PD!!"

"YEAH! Don't be MEAN!!"

*waits, complains*

"Hey! They sent 10 screengrabs this time!"

"Yeah, but... all those cars are in GT4! Nothing NEW!"

Yeah, and where's the DAMAGE?!"

"YEAH! CUMON PD!! Don't be MEAN!!"

*waits, rants n raves*

"Well CRAP!! 100 cars, and ALL of them are from GT4!"

"And that damage, it doesn't look real to me..."

"Oh, this sux out LOUD!!1 GT5 is now officially the lamest game in history!"

;)

That interview says "maybe 1010"... knowing PD/Yamauchi.. :nervous:

Thats a poor effort if it`s going to be 2010,i know they work hard at PD but stuffing around with other projects is delaying the release date and taking the focus away from what they should be doing. Prologue was good but is well past it`s used by date and has become stale as everyone knows it has. 2010 is still a long way off yet and thats just way too long. :ouch:

All I can say... I hope the game doesn't come out until I have my own PS3 :D I don't want to be left behind in the forums like I was with GT4! :nervous:

PD don't have to give away secrets, or any unique selling points. Just a small dribble/screenshot, just something foir us to chew on would be nice.

I think we should start a ''We want an update'' petition thread, and once we have a zillion posts, e-mail it to PD and see if they give us a little something ;)

Go for it.. you got my vote.

I do not tihnk there are zillion people even on earth.. maybe if we count all the bugs, animals, bacteria.. then we might get the votes!

I think we have about 6 Billion people the last time I heard which is way off a zillion. I am not sure if I know any GT playing bugs or bacteria, maybe there is a PS Nano that we have not seen because it is way too small! I bet thats what they play GT on, there you go:)

As Famine already stated earlier, that interview is old, so there's no reason to get your panties in a twist. ;)

Personally I believe and hope PD are targeting for a Q4 (October-December) release this year, but we'll see. :)

Zillion isn't actually a real figure, unlike Millions, Billions and Trillions which are. It's like stating an infinite number and that word is used for hyperbole effect.

Every GT fan must write the same email with the same topic and the same text to PD´s email adress... if they will read 1.000.000 emails with the same text like "give us an update or any infos" maybe there will be come something :)

I think it´s not impossible to find 1.000.000 or more people :)

Actually, chances are that Sony control press releases. Often the publisher chooses rather than the developer.

hmm 2010.. so 6 more months till we get very accurate date announcement. I bet mid april next year for US.
