What competition i still don´t see anyone doing what GT does, not even close?

Hey may be referring to other PC platforms that have done quite well like iracing, rFactor, GT Legends, GTR 2, etc. They have had damage and excellent handling and real life tracks for years now and the games are a few years old. I'm expecting the best for this one.

Those titles still don't do what Gran Turismo does, they are outright racing games (I have played them all), while some treat GT the same I like GT for it's 'car lifestyle' which is KY's vision, lots and lots of road going cars, history, driving, some racing and enjoying.

True. I got Race Pro a few weeks ago, and while it is very good, it's as stripped down as a racing game can be. I like the realism, the physics, and the variety of racing series and real world tracks, but that doesn't exactly cut it for me. The driving in GT is exciting, but what I think sets it apart from other games is the experience when you're not driving.

Here's a few examples. When I'm buying a car in GT5, I feel like I'm actually going to a showroom. When I'm watching a replay, the camera angles are so well done that it's almost like watching a TV broadcast. Forza is a good game, but I think this is where it completely misses the mark. This is also why I believe that manufacturers such as Ferrari, Lotus, Citroen, Lexus, and Nissan have gone to Gran Turismo to unveil their newest models to the public.

Anyway, my guess for the release date: It will be slated for Holiday 2009, but it will be delayed to Spring 2010.

I hope it comes out X-mas this year.

Then again, if the game's not ready, it would be another situation similar to GT2.:ouch:

so, realistic proposition: Late 2010.

As the days pass by, everyone keeps pushing back their expectations for the release without any reason to do so. Back in '06/'07, nobody guessed as late as 2009. And now in 2009.. late 2010?? Why? PD should have this game about ready here soon. If we never heard a word from them between now and late 2010, people would be saying "early 2012". Doesn't make sense.

Maybe one misconception is that when they released GT5 Prologue, that was all they had built so far towards GT5? I would certainly hope not.

I'm saying this game will be here by fall. Fall 2009

Except that you can now download game updates/patches, which can address/correct problems after the initial release.

That's why I said tops would be late 2010...as in the absolute threshold. I'm almost certain it'll be much earlier than that.

You will not believe this!

I went to my local Gamestop yesterday to buy a used game (Downhill Domination, if you must know) and the guy working the counter asked, as usual, If I wanted to preorder any game. I mentioned GT5, and the guy said that His Boss took a preorder for it earlier that day but now it wasn't in their computer. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough money to make the USD$5 deposit for the game (the game cost $6.99 and I had only $10.00), but the guy told me to come back the next time I had $5.00 and preorder it.

now, is it me, or does Gamestop know something? Hmmmmmm.......

Prob not, lots of ge stores aretaking pre-orders for games they do not know dates for. It ensures you buy the game from them, and not someone else.

Yeah, I don't think that they know the release date, I pre-ordered Halo 3: ODST already and it doesn't have an official date either. Stores can take pre-orders for games without release dates.

If we see something @E3 then I think the game will released x-mas 09 @japan and march 2010 €US and EU

But still 1 year to go lol...

I would really like to play, before the end of the year! But i'm not holding my breath, for the end of the year. So PD needs to give us Spec 4.:sly:👍

You know what? I've almost given up on GT5. It is just ridiculous that a VIDEOGAME should take this long to come to fruition, and nobody has heard squat about it for months! It's just sad to think that a series that was once so important to me as both a car enthusiast and a keen gamer has fallen like this one. Series like Grand Theft Auto and Gran Turismo have delivered some of my happiest and most awestruck moments as a gamer, and, in Gran Turismo's case, the sheer delight in discovering new tracks, or cars or gameplay elements is but a long-distant memory.

GT5 was one of the main reasons I bought a PS3. I've bought other games, sure, but none were as important to me as the next Gran Turismo. Somebody at Sony needs to kick Polyphony Digital's behind for taking this long.

The boss needed lunch money that day,it's good on your part that you did not feed him. They don't know when GT5 is coming out............starting to wonder if PD knows when it's coming out.:lol:

I think PD's whole deal is that they actually do not know when the game will come out so they don't commit to any dates until the game is actually being published.
