I do also think that a delay is highly likely
I'm not quite sure I follow you, unless you're saying it's a Gran Turismo tradition to be delayed. Which... touche. ;)

These would make a delay highly likely:
  • They're this close to acquiring the Porsche and Lamborghini licenses.
They're this close to getting a few more tracks licensed.
  • They're this close to nailing down a few malcontent car makers so they can implement universal damage.
  • They're this close to perfecting realistic damage, but need a few more months of fine tuning.
  • They're this close to perfecting realistic variable weather effects.
  • They're this close to perfecting realistic day and night cycles.
  • They're this close to perfecting realistic tire physics.
  • They're this close to perfecting the best livery editor ever.
  • They're this close to perfecting an auction system, along with other online functions linked with Home.
  • They're this close to perfecting working reverse lights and skidmarks. :sly:
Okay, a little carried away there, but because we don't know where GT5 is in the development cycle, no one can say definitively that GT5 won't be announced tonight. "Polish" could simply be a matter of working on the lighting code so the sawtooth and rainbow shadows are gone, and the shadows cast on the cars blur realistically to match the rest of the graphics. Kaz is giving us absolutely nothing except that a ton of content is ready to go, and likewise, so is the game.

It may be released in March, or December, or September for all we know.

Yeah, in over a year i have bought 3 games... lol, and play all of them all the time wouldnt want more until GT5 or Dirt 2 comes out.

I doubt they would delay in order to fit in a few more tracks or cars, seeing as that kind of content can easily be released as paid for or free DLC.

I'd rather have Christmas 2009 release with maximum sales, and then release expansion DLC in 2010 such as Lambo and Porsche packs for say £10 each. When they made GT4 they had to be 100% sure that everything was near perfect but with GT5 they can easily issue a patch to fix minor bugs etc.

you never no they could just drop a bomb and release it next month hehehe......but dont see that happening.....ever:(

*assassin's creed 2 L.E.: november 20
*assassin's creed 2 regular: november 20

i think this is good omen (or bad business trick). ;)

I work for a video game distributor and we're directly doing business with Ubisoft. Release date 3 weeks ago was November 3rd and is now November 17th.

Easy for you to say this, but what about countries that don't have PS Store, like many in my region (Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, Greece, Montenegro etc.)?
We can't download the DLC's for any game.......
Unless if I somehow manage to create US acc (with my credit card number or with a PSN card from eBay) and buy a NTSC game.:indiff:

Massive European Store? L O L
I think there is UK, German, Italian, French PS Store but I'm not sure about the last two.

Every country has his own Store, in Germany you cant pay with Debit cards btw. only with Credit Cards which sucks alot.

Same in Holland... They need to get those debit cards here soon... I think thats handier... My credit card info on the web with purchases just a button click away... = DANGEROUS.. :D

uh...we do have one in Italy:idea: every country has it's own store (I think)

Official spokes person, hell anyone of us can make the same claim they do as they provide nothing as proof, until sony/pd officially announce anything on gt5 everyting is pure speculation.

I could imagine the "spokes person" confirmed a release date this fiscal year, which means before 03/31/10 afaik, and Jeuxvideo gets some clicks. :)

I totally agree its a nice diplomatic answer to someone asking info on a release date, as you wont hear the real release date from from Sony, as polyphony said you would hear it from them first.

I just noticed it's jeuxvideo.FR ...I thought it was jeuxvideo.com (a very reliable french source) and that they just changed the layout. My bad. I dont believe that article.

IF this date is true, it's still a good thing for us, because it means another eight months or so of work put into something we want. And if the date is wrong and GT5 comes out earlier, it's a super bonus for us and SONY both this holiday season. And that's the thing. You know that SONY is leaning on Kaz slightly to get GT5 out by Christmas. The main thing that might throw a wrench into that is SONY's decision to focus on getting GT Mobile out first.

And for those who think you can add anything you want with patches, just remember Froza 2. It has had more patches than I think any other racing game, and yet some things are still broken on it, such as the livery layers shifting and the garage / Auction House crashing. Evidently some things just can't be patched, plus patched software is often more unstable than software coded right to start with. So DLC like cars and trophy patches are one thing, but tuning the physics, adding an entire damage build, weather and substantial stuff like that could be a huge problem to integrate without issues. And not to forget, large downloads even on broadband have been headaches for many people, and then there are those who don't have access to it at all, even from friend's homes.

Gran Turismo 5 really needs to be released when it's finished properly, with all the goodies or almost all of them on the disc at launch. And however long it takes, that's how long it takes.

Hmm when looking at all the sites posting all these various rumors now, i can only imagene how the web will blow up once PD/Sony announces somthing substantial on GT5, can´t wait for whenever it might be. :)

I've done you the favour of editing out all the extraneous stuff.
Well, you'd better heed all those extra letters n stuff you whittled out. I doubt you'll be wanting to play a Gran Forismo 5 with a lot of bugs that can't be patched, or be waiting for a GT6 to include all the goodies you were hoping would be in GT5 but wouldn't patch in stably.

I agree GT5 should be released as soon as it's ready, but that's as far as I'll go.
