i take it creating a thread purely with a list of 'unnoffical' release dates is a no-no. The thing is, many of us actually have an interest in these rumours, maybe if we had a thread, organised a bit like a official car list, organise it properly nobody will need to annoy you.

Latest rumours do seem to suggest Dec 29th. I wonder if I can manage a hattrick and be named and shamed yet again.

Personally i've lost interest in a release date due to the wildly different release dates on various websites.

Although a release date just after christmas will have a few benefits.
1. Not take away from the number of new PSP's and GTPSP going to be sold, as santa isnt known for leaving wrapped up pre-order reciepts.
2. Theres going to be a lot of people getting a new lower priced PS3 on xmas day, with the money they get from the relatives who cant be bothered to pick a present, a lot of kids are going to have money to burn.
3. As with 1. releasing this game after xmas means wives, girlfriends, our better halves are going to have to find some other PS3 game to buy for under xmas tree.
4. I would also think that the PSN is going to be hit hard on xmas day with all the new PS3's, imagine adding a few million more 'high load gamers' who want to play GT5 on the same day.
5. It will give me more time to play DIRT 2 and Need for speed shift, and if i feel like splashing out £55, i could buy Modern Warefare 2.
But............... Its my birthday on the 25th November.......

At E3 some guy from SONY (SCEE i guess) stated that GT5 will be releases Christmas this year. I think it will be released shortly before or after Christmas, at least in Japan. I hope it will be a simultanious release, but we will never know until PD finally tells us about the actual release date!
Amazon has been pretty reliable as far as release dates are concerned, at least they tend to "guess" the right quarter of the year. I mean the 29th of december seems a bit awkeward, but i guess Amazon just wanted to tell us, that it will be released this year, be it before this date, or exactly that day.

No. So this is speculation, not information. Until Sony publish GT5's release date there is no new information.

GT5 has no release date yet - so Amazon's release date, whatever it is, is not information about GT5's release date. It is speculation about GT5's release date.
You're approaching this from exactly the wrong side.

It is speculation, shops do that to get pre-orders, they just use a random date in a certain time-frame instead of a "TBA" or "N/A". It has the same meaning like i would tell you that GT5 might get released on December 5.
So, it is speculation and this speculation leads to people who believe in that nonesense and when the game gets a real releasedate later, everyone is crying because of "delay".

Im sure we had this issue with GT4 aswell. Or was there actually delays with that? I wasnt really on here very much then so I'm not 100% sure, but the shops kept telling me "There's been a delay".
So i'm guessing GT5 will be the same in other words the shops dont know the release date (because as yet one hasnt been publicly released) so as an excuse for them not having a clue they tell you "theres been a delay".

I cant believe Computer & Video Games have posted a story regarding the Amazon date & reading just the headline it appears as they are saying its a fact. You would think they would know better, unbelievable!

It was not so long ago nearly every game sellers web site had the same date (Something like 29th Sept, I think i was) Then people were saying, it cant be coincidence they must know something, now just about every site has a different date, proving they don't know anything they are just guessing & trying to get pre-orders.

I have just read Sony made a Q1 loss this year & I have always said GT5 will be a PS3 seller, I know a lot of people myself who only intend to buy a PS3 just for GT5. There are many here who have spend shed loads on new equipment.
So I wonder how long it will take Sony to tell PD to get the product out of the door, if its as Kaz said in a condition where it could actually be released?
