Gran Turismo 6 coming to PS3

I'm not throwing my wallet yet, we all got hyped when GT5 was unveiled, only to get screwed over with the standard cars. They're going to need to show a lot more or I'm just going to stick with Forza 4.

Nobody got screwed over. Some of the best cars in the game are standard model, it's not like you can tell when you driving them.

Unless you use interior view. Or tried to take photos of them; which is probably the context he was talking about.

If this image is to be believed (not sure if it is legitimate) then Brands Hatch is confirmed

"Classic GT COURSES requested by fans"!
Rome Classic?
Rome Night?
Apricot Hill?
Midfield?
Red Rock Valley Speedway?!

I don't want to get my hopes up, but I can certainly see maybe 2 or 3 of these tracks being in GT6.

I'm hoping the "expanded customization" is akin to modding. A livery editor is so very 2005. But then again, modding is even older than that.

It looks enticing, and I'm sure I'll pick it up, but the reveal hasn't knocked my socks off.

Create tracks from you real-life drives and favourites routes with the new GPS data feature.

If that was one of the smartphones-features and not requiring some kind of eletronic box mounted in the car, it would be amazing. Drive around your favorite supermarket parking lot and get the layout into GT6 with nice surroundings made by GT6. *dream*

The track map for SSR11 was spotted in the latest trailer.
If Top Gear Test Track is going to go away as rumored, that leaves room for another track. Rome Classic could be represented as track variations for the GT5 Rome Circuit and not count as a completely new track.

2 new "classic" tracks is the bare minimum they need to have "Classic GT courses requested by fans" written on the game box.

Anyway, with "33 locations" (pretty sure they mean "tracks"), "71 layouts", Brands Hatch, Silverstone, and Top Gear Test Track as a "placeholder" for any new track with a limited amount of layouts (including reverse ones), the track list is very likely to look like this to me:

Interesting stuff, especially the GPS feature (I'm guessing that is one of the integration things for the Smart phone).

Maybe you can share the collected data by Smart phone too, and theoretically have all kinds of real life roadsections available (anyone going to drive around the Stelvio Pass next year?) through some sort of app.
If this is really without limitations you could also collect every trackday data and effectively recreate real life tracks ingame although for some reason (licenses) that might be blocked.

And then race trolleys in it.

Let's say PD has modeled over 100 premiums (which is really stretching it), taking out the standards altogether would give 400-500 cars? Which is of course plenty enough. Then again why not have those 400-500 cars, PLUS 800 more for those that want to drive them. Similarly GT5 would only have 200 cars. Standards are easily something they can just leave out, but if it adds hundred more for me to drive I don't see why not. If you're really bothered by the standards, just pretend they don't exist, and enjoy those 400-500 premiums. And we're talking about GT6 here, not GT5 so don't bring up trucks.

And this is to say we don't exactly know how those standards from GT5 translate to GT6, so let's not assume incompatibility with cockpit or photo mode yet, even if they're likely true. That's beside my point anyway.

Like they said, physics have been tweaked. So... the standards might have not been redefined, but may have improved handling.

Yeah. Heard all this the other day.

I can see it panning out as:

-Roughly 600 "Premium" cars
-600 slightly improved standards (maybe one or two details in the cockpit, jaggies smoothed, pixelation smoothed a bit)
-Livery editor finally
-the 'thousands' of aerodynamic parts wont all be available on each car, maybe a handful for each
-Plenty of alloys to choose from though
-Fads like paint chips gone
-Better UI
-The physics will no doubt be better
-16 player multiplayer remains
-Potentially larger races in GT mode?
-Most sounds carried over from GT5
-More intricate tuning

Not quite sure what to make of this 'car creator' thing everyone is talking about. Course creator was hyped massively as this construction kit to create your ideal track on GT5 and turned out like it did.

I need more info before I jump into one of the "Its like GT5.5" or "Its an entirely new game" camps.

One interesting fact is that the Countach in the trailer is not listed as new to Gran Turismo. The interior also looks rather dark, but the exterior and the textures looks smooth and clean. Is that a standard car? If it is, that sets a new standard for the standards, so to speak.

...or is it a premium? It doesn't look as shiny as other premiums, but on the other hand it's an old model and car design has come a long way since the 70's. I simply can't tell.

Yeah. Heard all this the other day.

I know you have, that's why I mentioned the truck comment. But really, forget the standards and just enjoy whatever Premium models PD have done. There can only be so many and it's not like taking them away would give us much more. Yes, I'm repeating myself, and this will be the last of it. Promise.
