Gran Turismo 6 coming to PS3

@SlowInFastOut Ugh this guy is so.... Like Mush_nz said, wait until Jordan's Q&A is up, you're to much...

Coming from someone with Turismo in their user name, have to take everything you say with a grain of salt. Also it's "too much" not "to much", proper spelling and punctuation is in the AUP, i suggest you take a moment to read it again.

Video is processing now. 👍

I'll have the Q&A up maybe tomorrow or Friday. It was a group session so I didn't get to ask all the questions, but we got some good info and clarified (sort of) some things regarding Standard/Premium cars in GT6 (it's mostly good news). I still have to listen to the recordings again to figure out exactly what was said.

I wonder if all the standards are upgraded to lessen the gap between premium and standard. The Countach still stands out to me. It doesn't look bad at all, but it doesn't impress like the Tesla Model S.

I think I know why the engine sounds are high-pitched in Gran Turismo.
In fact, I think Kazunori is right into saying the sound is too accurate.
Because of the sophisticated recording instruments they used to capture almost lossless sound, and the fact that the vehicle is stationary.
A moving car sounds different from a stationary car.
Since a car is moving, sound waves stretch through the air and they don’t overlap because sound waves are travelling on a distance thereby the waves are distributed on varying spaces (whether you go slow or fast). It is called the Doppler effect.
Now if an object is stationary, that means the sound waves get compressed easily and thus would produce a higher-frequency sound than if it were moving.
Now, cars in Gran Turismo move, but the sound source of them didn’t. Will we get dynamic sound effects in video games someday where a stationary vehicle would sound different from a moving vehicle given other factors? Obviously an engine running in lower gear sounds different from an engine which is accelerating on a higher gear in a fundamental way, but a car running at 250km/h on a treadmill will sound different from a car running at 250km/h on a road (to us). Maybe we’ll get something similar someday, where the sound waves are dynamic relative to our position and how the sound source moves.
Now on replays (the cinematic camera) we hear the faint-direct-faint effect like we would from a passing vehicle or from the siren of a passing ambulance. Sadly, I believe it isn’t really the doppler effect as the frequency is constant all throughout and so we could only hear volume and decibel changes, but not exactly the compression of sound waves as they come closer and stretch as they go farther. It’s just that the sounds get louder and fainter. Now why is that? Again, no doppler effect programmed. It’s just recorded sound playing, so not really a natural sound source that would bend and flatten as it goes through space but a constant sound that’s just moving through an artificial level.
Orrrr….someone can correct me on this.

Thank you for REMINDING ME... :grumpy: And please if you have a problem with my name, than ignore me, simple... Don't think because I have "Turismo" in my name, you believe I'm some fanboy. I was going for "TT" for short, end of conversation.

Have a nice night.

EDIT: And I already read that in the AUP dude...

Jeepers... I exhausted myself reading almost this entire thread!! But it was fun. You guys are such a bunch of crazies. And I mean that in a mostly good way. :D

I'll have to take a quick nap and get ready for work... woops, after a hotdog, forgot to eat supper and I'm famished. Tomorrow, I'll have to dig up my post and see how much I got right. Seems like I got a pretty high mark, actually!

Man... Christmas is going to take a small eternity to arrive, between PS4 and GT6...

They do use the same engine, albeit the Xbow's is tuned.
That makes a lot more sense. I thought PD randomly chose the sound of a 4-cylinder to put in the X-Bow.

I hope that's not the end though, PD better start showing us some new samples soon.

Please, point me to the part in the AUP that specifies proper spelling. I'll wait. Ironically enough though, you did forget that I is always capitalized, a grammatical error. The point is, we don't ask for perfect spelling; we simply ask that all messages be posted in English, decent grammar is used, and that users spell to the best of their abilities 👍

The dyno run video I posted has some very high pitch sound and ended with very meaty idle sound, Kaz should give that extra "punch" for every car sound sample.

I just wanna say that all the people that were trhinking GT6 would come out for PS4 were naive. It was obvious if we look at the past that it was a PS3 title, which is great BTW.

PS3 has good enough graphics and in fact all we want is more cars, tracks, new physics and events to keep us happy. PD knows that. Graphics don't matter as much as gameplay.

*Phew* Thank you SlipZtrEm. I was getting alittle worried there thinking I messed up, haha. 👍👍 for you. :)

I went on Autumn Ring to compare the visuals/quality.

Looks like Autumn Ring is boasting day/night. I think they will push for more day/night and weather. You can also tell the higher HDR is really boasting better visuals overall but I know day/night does too.

YES!!!!! Look weather! we can Day/night or rain. Look we can MORE TRACKS are Day/night also Rain!

The sound in Jordan's video was also through a mono headphone, so it's not picking up the best quality for the sound.

I hope we can still choose between a static weather/time of day and dynamic version of the same track. For me the static ones looked far superior in the lighting department. Hopefully they made good progress in the way they did the dynamic ones look.

Perhaps, but we can all recognize that the sound is from the Scirocco R in GT5. I think it's safe to say they have the same sound.

I really do wish to see some improvements in the sound department, I like the game but the sounds do kinda suck, and no mentions on the sounds were done, so there is that.

However I'm quite hyped about the new course maker features (probably the only guy here), it was a cool feature with terrible execution in GT5, perhaps a more complex/larger version of it is enough to keep me playing for hours(like I do on Targa Florio in rfactor).

You will not use “textspeak” (“r”, “u”, “plz”, etc.) in your messages. Decent grammar is expected at all times, including proper usage of capital letters.

Thanks for your input, greatly appreciated 👍

Did you even read the article on the front page?

As already mentioned it was recorded through a head jack but Jordon also says the true sound as coming from the TV is improved over GT5 so how you can say it's the VW engine noise I have no idea.
