Gran Turismo 6 coming to PS3

Im surprised that no other video footage of the game has surfaced from other journos yet, given that GTplanet has already posted some. I'm lusting to see that S1 Quattro in action.

I believed analog and thought we were going to be able to create our own cars from scratch. From that, and the PC connectivity, and because I'm used to Trackmania, I assumed we would have access to a database where people would upload real cars that they would have modelled themselves. And I thought it was a a very clever way to get around the long development times and licensing fees they were facing as developers. So, because the thought didn't even cross anyone else's mind, now I'm a bit sad cuz wrong.

Another thing, I can't play online and I thought the event creator would mean that I would be able to create my own offline events with, say, only DTM cars. If it turns out to be a tool for online admins only, I will be sad again.

I did believe it at first (sparked by that white mystery car, which is still unsolved by the way, and overall excitement no doubt ;)) and when I read you could create your own personalized custom cars.
However, after watching the full presentation they sort of casually remark on that and within the context of those aftermarket parts so I think it therefor is a typical case of PD's odd wording that often results in unnecessary confusion.

So I think it has to with customizing existing cars, either more or less what we can do right now (which I'm afraid is what it is) or there's going to be a more revolutionary feature whereby to can really transform existing cars to an extend they become really different and indeed personalized.
So that white car which nobody seems to recognize might be an example of that (being based on an existing ingame car) or something we'll never know and we're back to just putting premade things on our cars and painting them.

I think maybe I'll just ignore the paisley posts from now on, not worth the effort...

Please don't get my hopes up.

A quick review that addresses the updated physics from a journalist at the Silversone Event. I like what I read, sounds like physics was one of the most important aspects for the next GT.
That sounds like a pretty good confirmation of some of the stuff we saw in the comparison thing.

Wasn't there to be an official video (not the presentation) of the event? And will we be seeing various kinds of gameplay or is it just that track variation?

Oh it's interesting to see a car like that on GT6. And notice how realistic it looks when driving over the apex? Yup, this game looks great so far. Can't wait!!

Without wishing to troll, because I flippin' love the GT games, and am looking forward to this, a few of things I noticed from the X-Bow film Jordan put up (thanks boss!) which really reminded me we are still looking at Gran Turismo:

1. The engine sound. OK I know that car doesn't sound all that great in real life but there is at least some variation and roughness around the edges. Here we still have the same old whooshy, rather thin, blurred sound.

2. The "new" physics and suspension. Loved how the wheels bounced but the body of the car seemed to remain completely unmoved in cockpit view? I wasn't getting a feeling of the body of the car bumping or leaning into the corners at all. I know the X-Bow has independent suspension but it was like a steadicam or something.

3. Grip. Again it seems to me the level of grip/loss of grip is a very straight graph again, as per previous GT games. And again we have a generic whooshy tyre squeal sound on almost every corner as the car seemingly half steers/half slides around, instead of grip grip grip then that cliff you would expect where the car suddenly steps out or just understeers. Hate to say it but having got into it since I played GT5 to death, Forza is much better at this.

Sometimes the cars in GT feel more like hovercrafts, and it seems to me Kaz will never really budge on these particular points.

I doubt the KTM is the best example to illustrate this though with its carbonfibre chassis and track-focussed suspension design.

I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but does anyone feel like GT6 was almost rushed out the door? It seems like they dropped everything on us all at once, which is very un-PD like. Maybe there's more to come, but with GT5, the term "soon" was quite common, but with GT6, it's as if they just pulled together everything they had and presented it all at once.

We haven't seen anything yet. Maybe someone has, but not us.

Keep in mind, Jordan accidentally left SRF on - which could be causing what you're describing.

Wait for the demo/more gameplay footage ;)
