Gran Turismo 6 coming to PS3

I agree. GT is cool, FM is cool, they're both cool. It's just the fans of both sides that makes them enemies... That's it, bring in pCARS to deal with them both please.

It's like just because Forza 5 is going on the nextbox (kinectbox), GT has to be on PS4 or it'll suck. But to be honest, I'll LOL if Sony was just saying GT6 was going on PS3 and instead goes on both or whatever.

Thank you Toko! GT and FM are great games to play they have pros and cons, but they always give me hours to enjoyment and some great challenges to boot.

Are we not car enthusiasts playing these games? Embracing everything in the auto world that Kaz and Dan wants us to experience and enjoy? I talked to alot of people on both sides and they enjoy the two, some prefer one over the other, but they don't be saying 🤬 about the other game or insulting people who play the other and I can respect that. I do give out my views and criticism on what both games need to improve on and keep the series evolving. It doesn't mean I'm a GT or FM "fanboy". I'm a fan to both games, not a extremist fan getting out of line and acting like a 12 year old and saying stupid crap because of a announcement from Microsoft or Sony.

Hell, I don't hear this crap on Halo vs. Killzone, even though their FPS with a sci-fi storyline and great characters, everyone enjoyed one of them or both titles. Except some of those COD fans who do stupid comparisons between COD and the two other games. They're different games, people! :rollseye: But not all of them do this, just the stereotypical ones do, so no offense.

No prob, and +1 to your post. :)👍 In ways both GT and FM aren't different from each other. In my eyes they're both "where lovers of cars belong", because we love cars and want to experience them. :D

Not really. Sony, on the other hand...

I wish people would stop making everything a bloody competition; these are two different games, enjoy them both as such.

To be fair either Sony or PD did that themselves when the release date of Spec 2.0 just happened to coincide exactly with the release date of Forza 4. They obviously see an aspect of competition or that miraculous coincidence wouldn't have happened.

i really hope this is real, i want them to correct all the things missing on gt5 so there is a better version on ps3.... please let it be soooo.........

Which was my point. I just don't get it, regardless of the source. I was somewhat vocal about how disappointed I was by the seemingly petty choice of the Spec 2 release date, even hypothetically, before it was announced (self-fulfilling prophecy? It's all my fault!). It's unnecessary and only feeds the rabid fanboyism that the big companies mistake for "loyalty" and "publicity", and fatigues the rest of us whilst simultaneously eclipsing what the focus should be on. To be clear, comparisons are fine, but worthless value judgements (i.e. what's "better"), which should only really be considered incomplete opinions, hijacked as some kind of war-cry to sate the tribal instincts, are not.

Of course, it's not that big of a deal (I can stop playing any time). And, whilst a pissing contest can be fairly interesting, even exciting, in itself, I don't think that's why most of us are here, or why most of us play these games in the first place.

It is pointless but that's just how companies operate I guess, if anyone can do petty it's large corporations. Just look at Sony and Microsoft and their general approach to their consoles. Or Samsung and Apple, now there are two petty companies.

A user of the Spanish forum EOL. ask Lucar Ordoñez, winner of the first GT Academy if he knew anything about GT6, he replied:

"Still have to wait a little, but not much"

Really!? Does that mean he knows GT6 is nearly finished and will be shown soon? I sure hope so. :)

I think it means we won't have to wait long to learn more. E3, for instance, is in June.

The question was roughly: "No news on GT5, or possibly the 6th edition? Any clues?"

It can mean:

a) new gt5 track or content in general, *soon*
b) gt6 superfluous news *soon*
c) gt6 being released for the ps3, *soon* (nov-dec. 2013)
d) gt6 news about a ps4 release. News soon (e3), game *soon*.

Not really. Sony, on the other hand...

This. The few times I've gotten the chance to play Forza 4, I've enjoyed it with the same amount of enthusiasm as I've enjoyed GT5 so I don't see the reason behind all the comparisons.

I personally don't see anything wrong with comparing GT and FM, as long as it's done in a mature manner, which doesn't happen quite often, unfortunately.

...a) new gt5 track or content in general, *soon*...
I think it'd take more than just a new track or DLC. Spec 3 at least if it's GT5.

Lucas though is involved with GT6 so I'm going with his comments pertaining to that.

There hasn't been any new DLC in months. There must be something around the corner. E3 is soon and Sony is rumored to hold another PS4-presentation event soon as Microsoft is going to present their next Xbox.

When homo sapiens is involved, competition is inevitable, and I have no problem with that. In an industry like video games, competition is good. If it was like the old days before Forza, and GT was competing with itself, advances were more gradual in the series. GT4 was an immensely larger game in every aspect than GT3, but the improvements were more nuanced. The weird notions and experiments aside, GT5 was an immense improvement in every way - including sound in a good number of cars. Without Forza to push Polyphony, I'm not sure we would have had as much improvement as we got. I think the constant harping on the advanced features of the PC racers like P-CARS, "iRenting" and the others are beneficial too. I've joined in on all of that, even though I don't really care for Forza anymore and I find PC sims to be dry and unengaging. They all offer certain things that benefit them.

At the same time, I don't think it's necessary to look at other games for features to want in upcoming Gran Turismos. I want a Livery Editor not because Forza and other racers have them, but because real race cars have livery designers. I asked for a livery painter before I'd even heard of Forza. The same thing with an Auction House and Storefront, which we have in real life. Weather and time come from real life. Cars get damaged and suffer wear. A racing career is what every aspiring young racer endures. I'd love to see a Career Mode that uses a model of GT Academy to launch your racing career, separate from Arcade and GT Modes, and Season Modes that are based on real world racing league seasons. All of these things should be possible on PS3 because they exist in other games, or in GT5 itself. But they would be implemented much better on a much more powerful PS4.

And for those who think comparisons with a much more advanced Forza on the new Box are irrelevant, you don't understand the nature of business or their desperate need for money, at least in the case of SONY which suffered another year of losses. Not to mention market perception and gamer attitude. Just look at the small splash Drive Club has made on the members here, a game which is more in line with Test Drive and Project Gotham, and critical comparisons to GT5. A Forza 5 on a console that makes the PS3 seem like an antique, with all the features we've been asking for, would hit like an asteroid. And this is why Earth posted this:

This will matter if it happens. I think too few of us understand what it's like to either be in business or to create something important to you. Microsoft may only care about dollars, but to Orientals, prestige is crucial, and something like this would sting badly. Especially since Forza is basically a direct knock-off of Kazunori's pride and joy, and SONY's flagship title. Gran Turismo is essentially SONY's mascot, practically their heart and soul, so while sales numbers are relevant, it's a lot more to that to them, and I'm surprised how some people here just don't grasp this.

So that heart and soul explains why gt5 was released so soon on ps3.
Oh wait.
Your posts always have some good sense hidden behind the slightly melodramatic veil you've used here.

If Sony want, or need, a GT title to sell consoles I'm sure they're dealing with that. It will probably be a prologue, since that's as good a screen shot generator as anything (which, if you take this forum as a gauge, seems to be the most important part of any car game these days), but to suggest that Sony depend on it entirely is exaggeration, as is the idea that they have this emotional unbreakable tie to it.

I didn't say they depend on GT entirely. But for you to think that SONY just has a casual connection to Gran Turismo indicates that you don't understand Oriental thinking.

I have been acquainting myself with the Japanese culture off and on for a few years now, striking up relationships with a few friends over there. In addition, my brother married a Japanese wife, and I lived with them for almost two years. They have a very different way of looking at the world, and their etiquette and morals are intricate and sometimes hard to fathom, but it's very important to them, as I learned firsthand in a few touchy situations. When you slight them, they take it very personally. And while they think we Americans are cool in a rough, brash way, they also consider us barbarians still, "gaijin," because of what they see as a lack of moral consciousness in us.

When SONY worked on the very early Playstation, an add-on drive that was going to work with the SuperNintendo and expand its power tremendously, they were more than just shocked and outraged that Nintendo announced on the day of its unveiling that they were partnering with another company, Philips of all things, to develop something else entirely. They were furious. So furious that Ken Kutaragi was given the green light without hesitation to create the SONY Playstation we all know.

In Japanese culture, there is life, there is business, but more important than anything is honor and integrity and what is theirs. You don't touch them or theirs without permission. To be sure, Playstation has some incredible marquee game franchises. But nothing says "Playstation" and nothing will get holdouts to buy a Playstation like a Gran Turismo. And I don't see any other Playstation game SONY treats like family jewelry. I'm unaware of anyone saying on any board that they won't buy PS4 until it has an Uncharted, Ratchet & Clank or Metal Gear Solid for it.

I'm surprised that some people don't grasp that reverse racism is still racism.

I'm not really getting any hint of racism in Tenacious D's post. Only his mentioning 'Orientals' in a general way, which prompted the below joke comment about stereotyping.

But Orientals have big pride and work very hard... also something about maths.

I know stereotyping can be seen as a veiled form of racism, but I still think it's a bit of a stretch to call it actual racism, especially considering the guy's subsequent posts explaining why.

I still see no evidence to so much as suggest that Sony are more sentimental about Gran Turismo than, say, Microsoft are about Forza. Why all of a sudden is their great pride and honour at stake if they don't deliver a Gran Turismo at or near ps4 launch? The situation is exactly the same as with the ps3 launch.
Such drama.

It's a product which they want to be successful. Would they be happier if they could release a 10 million selling edition every 18 months? Of course, but they won't be committing seppuku over it. They'll deal with it.

True, I think the proposed business strategy by Sony of a GT title up to a year after PS4 launch is what they need - continued console sales being more important than an overkill on launch sales.

There will be plenty of good games to drive that aspect for them. GT is a mainstay and it's first PS4 release will definitely keep the cash coming in - plus the later launch of a GT title will give more people time to afford this...not that it's proposed price is overly expensive.

ive not seen any ps4 game play if there is any, but I dont buy at launches, I wait till they drop 200 pound or less, so for me I couldnt careless which version gt6 goes on, however if it goes to 4 then id hope they not forget gt5 and continue to improve it.

I highly doubt PDI would still support GT5 after the release of GT6. And honestly, why should they?

Why should they continue to support an older outdated version of the game, when they need to advertise and sell the newest version?
