I'm surprised that some people don't grasp that reverse racism is still racism.
It's not racism, it's Americanism, there is a difference. The kind of Americanism expressed in the 80s yuppie make cash any way you can ideology. Stuff which used to be considered a bad thing, which has nothing to do with race. You're quite the card thrower, you know.
Anyhow...
GT Life will be terrible no matter how they change it up, because the RACING itself will not be fun.
Well, won't be
as fun. At least for some of us.
I know this is a solid debate point for Gran Turismo, because millions of us have some sort of emotional investment in the series from a decade or more with it. I was there from GT1 days, so I'm caught up in it as much as anyone else. We want Gran Turismo to be "our" Gran Turismo, or we feel some degree of disappointment. Especially with the power of the latest generation of consoles, PS4 in particular, the potential to realize our dream game is greater than ever.
GT5 laid a lot of groundwork in that regard. Weather and time of day transitions have been asked for a lot since the release of GT4. A track creator was too. Return of Race Modification, the ability to enhance our cars with bodykit mods up to race car standards, a Livery Editor, a proper damage implementation, a user Store, a Movie Maker... some of those things we got, some we only got a sniff of or a mention that they were considering it or just couldn't do.
A lot of this can easily be done on PS3, such as gameplay elements like more league oriented racing, Season and Career Mode, which don't require more resources, just some solid game design. A good damage build is work and requires resources, as do better graphics, which most likely necessitates some resource juggling in the game engine. And of course new cars and tracks which are up to the modeling team to sweat out for us. With the recent lack of news on any new content for GT5, it does seem that the team is focused on delivering that next entry in the franchise "soon."
I have great expectations for GT6, because the avalanche of criticism on GT5 probably hurt Kaz and the team. What we will get from them, we'll have to see, but they have a big laundry list of fan requests, and they have been working pretty hard to give us as much as they can. Even with all its flaws, the only game I've been playing over the past year, other than some Desert Combat with my bro, is GT5. And I've gone back to racing in it just about daily. In Arcade Mode no less, in which the only reward is the racing. Or discovering the joy of a new track in the Course Maker, which I finally got around to exploring.
E3 is just a few weeks away, and I expect some thunder from it.
