GT7 made it into both the EU & NA top tens on PS5, but only barely squeezed into the Euro PS4 top 20 - didn't make the NA PS4 top 20. Tracks with data from some other crossgen games that people would rather wait and get it on the current gen machine.

This is super disappointing. GT’s original circuits have been environmentally disappointing since GT5. There’s no density to the trackside environment, the locales are boring to drive through. Compare the feel of Trial Mountain to something like St Croix. Just so dull by comparison.

It just feels like PD want to do what’s easiest for them.
As much as I would love for every track to be pretty and dense, I think sacrificing that for more tracks is just a little better. People complain enough about the slow rate of tracks being added as it is.

Imo pd is too small for current standard aaa game studio + doubt their employees crounch ;d (which to be fair is good)

I have decent faith that FM8's release will spur PD on to release a hefty content update around the same time. Much like GT5 getting its Spec 2.0 update around the same time as FM4's launch.
One of the problems with that are thinking GT players will buy an XBox. I have no data to base the percentage of casual GT players with multiple systems, but would casual PlayStation players then go out and buy an Xbox? Or just not play GT7 and maybe stick to other Playstation games until the next PlayStation car game?

We know PD & Sony are watching the player data. Would FM8 spur a Spec 2.0 or would they release a Spec 2.0 on the GT7 data alone? Whether it’s a low GT7 player count or trying to get new players to buy GT7. I’d think Sony would want but not sure PD would.

I know I was team GT from the start and bought an XB360 and XB1 between next GT developments. I don’t own a new XB, but at the moment, the only thing enticing me with FM8, are the possibility of returning and new TCR & BTCC cars. I’ll wait for reviews and gtp feedback to make my decision.

I wont buy a Xbox (or another console/pc for that matter) even if FM8 is better than the second coming of Jesus, hope it will be as people say on here but i really doubt PD will do that much.

FM will be relasing on Windows as well as XBox, I think a lot of people have a PC or laptop as well as a console. So that opens up a lot more potential players. But I think people who are fans of one or the other will buy the game they prefer and some people might buy both.

I doubt FM will spur PD to react, I don't think they pay that kind of attention to the competition. Their PR and marketing teams will probably be on that far more than the developers.

We have zero evidence a GT7 Spec 2 will even be a thing ever too, I think it exists more as a hope than anything at the moment.

The biggest challenge for T10 is the Forza community has largely switched to the Horizon series. Which by it's very nature is more casual friendly. To tempt GT players T10 will need to double down on the motorsport elements, which in turn will make it less appealing to the broader Horizon community.

The possibility of a GT7 Spec 2 is largely dependent on how long PD plan to support GT7. The title is only 10 months old, so we don't know if there's years of support ahead, with new series, events etc. Or if they will release GT8 as soon as possible (late '24, early '25) only on PS5.

Given Gran Turismo doesn't simulate motorsport elements all too well in general I'm not sure T10 would need to double down on that to attract GT fans. However IIRC they did announce that they were going more in depth in that direction, so we'll see if they have that covered.

The idea of a Spec 2 update stems squarely from GT5 Spec 2 and GT Sport Spec 2, the only GT games to receive a Spec 2 update with a game in between them that didn't.

As a casual player I'm pleased enough with GT7. I rarely "gold or silver" any of the challenges and don't care to collect more than 150 or so cars. The career and mission structure feels like more the of the same (GT6, GT5, etc.). The music and history lessons don't get in the way of the fun. The overall package is sound.

But the physics are so good it ironically makes me want to see these cars in an open road/world environment.

It's like these beautiful cars (and car physics) are trapped inside this semi-boring cocoon that won't let them truly shine. Even if GT just created a couple of "playground maps" that would add lots to the game. But as others alluded, PD doesn't see that or anything else anyone else is doing. They know exactly what they want to do and they are going to pretty much do just that, no matter how boring or repetitive (like bringing back track "x") it is.

Honest question I see the Lexus LFA is one of the most requested cars ever but do you guys believe pd will get the sound of that car right?

Possibly but alot of the cars ingame that have very distinct sounds IRL are off or outright wrong. Cars that are spot on are the Enzo and F1 GTRs for example while ones like the Alfa 155 are 100% incorrect.
The Carrera GT is the only car that's in GT7 that sounds similar to a LFA and that car is fairly off though I recall seeing that the one recorded for GT7 was a straight piped one.
Even then, the ones that sound correct sound far too weak almost as if muted or made to sound softer even though race cars in particular sound very "racy, 'I couldn't think of another word to describe what I mean'". The worst offender of this is the Aston Martin DBR9, that car sounds like a race car IRL as it obviously should but in GT7 it sounds like a slightly modified road going V12 DB9. Sorry for going on a tangent but the sound design in GT7 while good definitely has room for improvement, IMO it's very hit or miss.

The weirdest thing about sound is the key notes so many cars are missing like my p1 gtr to tell you the true I don't drive the gtr that much cause I just cant stand its missing the key hiss sound to it.

So I bought the Super Formula in preparation for the new F1 cars being revealed so I can replicate any awesome liveries and took it to Suzuka to do the WTC800 race and noticed a wee detail. It’s likely been noticed and mentioned before, but as the race progresses the tyres show actual degradation. I don’t remember this level of detail in Sport??

I’d love a Mount Haruna downhill/uphill point to point, or an inspired original track. Same with the Wangan line, perhaps as SSR7 or a new Tokyo Expressway route (would probably be this since Special Stage 5/7 has been dropped/replaced in favour of Tokyo Expressway).

Totally not because I’m on a Wangan Midnight kick :P

But for real, a mountain course would be awesome online. I saw a YouTuber do a tournament on Mount Haruna in Assetto Corsa with drift AE86s, and it was great. Super tense.

If you go off-track tyres also get visibly dirty, most noticeable on worn-out tyres or grooved tyres.
