AMS (and PC sims in general) can offer things like that because their vehicular output is more focused and the community expects that kind of car pack. Whereas here, because the series has tried to do a bit of everything over the years, there's different audiences who want modern race cars, classic race cars, race cars from old GTs, modern road cars, classic road cars, JDM 90s cars, missing cars from brands they didn't have the licences for in previous games, rally cars, oddball cars, and probably a bunch of other classifications I'm forgetting.

My point is more that if PD did a paid DLC car pack with only one type of car in it, no matter what that type of car is, they'd have a significant portion of their audience going "nah, not for me, I wanted <other type of cars> instead".

This would also seem to indicate that Circuit de la Sarthe itself can still be added to other/new games, even after the MSG deal. Perhaps the same can be said for Indianapolis Motor Speedway if the La Sarthe situation is a reference to go by for this circuit licencing stuff.
I mean, La Sarthe is also in GT7 at launch (and is featured in FM8's trailers) - people have been showing worries about it as early as before PS Experience trailer in 2021 (the year when the deal was inked).

Ok more news. This isn't from GT, but it could have larger implications for all sim racing games.

Reiza Studios for reference are the developers of Automobilista.

The especially interesting part to me about this is:
"Along with it, we will also release a pack with new prototypes and GTs that raced there this year..."

This would seem to indicate that the fears of Motorsport Games' exclusive licence for Le Mans blocking a lot of modern race cars from appearing in other titles might not be the case.
This might apply to the other series' that MSG have exclusive licences for too, such as NASCAR, Indycar & BTCC, but none of that can be said for certain unless they're actually added by a different entity.

I'm really thinking that the exclusivity that MSG has is purely related to the hosting of official events/series (such as Le Mans Virtual), and not necessarily the cars & circuits featured in them.
If that is the case, sim racers rejoice! :D

Pretty much what I was saying before. The Toyota GR010's appearance in GT7 (Well after the deal was made) was already a massive conflict to that idea and the subsequent featuring of The Cadillac V Series.R on the cover of Forza Motorsport (as well as its inclusion in iRacing, a victim of the INDYCAR exclusive deal) only made it more apparent that car exclusion was never gonna be the case. I guarantee if that was part of the deal, IMSA would have a massive problem with that considering their partnership with multiple studios (And the last thing MSG needs is another reason for IMSA's parent Company NASCAR to cut ties with them given the...state of things with THIER licensed game).

Seems like the perfect setup to selling more DLC packs each focusing on a particular type of car instead of just 3 random ones pulled out of a hat.

Up until now I was under the impression that the Hypercars that appear in IMSA as well as WEC could be licenced seperately as their IMSA versions to get around the MSG exclusivity, explaining the Cadillac in Forza having IMSA number boards etc. Same going for the Cadillac in iRacing and the BMW which currently runs IMSA only.

The Porsche would also apply to Cadillac's situation as it runs in both series, but oddly it hasn't been featured anywhere yet. And the Acura is in the same group as the BMW being IMSA only, but also hasn't appeared anywhere yet

As for WEC exclusive cars, the only one officially (to my knowledge) is the Toyota in GT, which I thought was only possible due to GT's specific connection with Toyota.

These were the factors that made me think that say, the Peugeot 9X8 & Ferrari 499P, would be MSG only, as they can't be licenced as IMSA cars, and the Toyota appearing in GT was some sort of special exception one-off.

That's why I was intrigued by what Reiza Studios had said about their upcoming Le Mans content, and how it would feature cars from Le Mans 2023 specifically, rather than IMSA versions as seen before by Forza & iRacing.

Thing is, many people concerned seemingly ignored the IMSA connection immediately (Despite the existence of a GTP Article that showed GT among the many studios in that partnership at IMSA's State of the Series address). They also seemed to ignored the announcement itself that was again two years before the GR010's inclusion in GT7, where it was never stated the cars were exclusive to the game (Nor the track obviously, though strange that iRacing doesn't use "Circuit De La Sarthe" but its there on GT7 and I suspect will be on Forza as well) but "WEC" and "24 Hours Le Mans" are.

I was the user that reported the IMSA "State of the Series" finding funnily enough. That partnership has strangely still never been acknowledged on PD's end, even though content updates for GT7 have featured IMSA circuits Watkins Glen & Road Atlanta, as well as Daytona at launch.

I'm hoping we'll eventually see Sebring added to complete the Michelin Endurance Cup roster (Haptics on the bumps? Yes please!).
If I recall correctly Watkins Glen was scanned by PD not long after their most recent re-pave. Makes me think if they'll be heading over to Road America at some point since that was re-paved for this year.

My theory for the less frequent circuit additions as of late is that we've caught up to the point in the development cycle when Covid would have made travelling to scan circuits difficult. PD original circuits like Grand Valley might still have been possible to develop, and maybe travelling to circuits still in Japan (Sportsland Sugo perhaps?).

All of that remains to be seen though. It's getting more in the realm of speculation on my part.
I just hope for the best while not setting expectations for what might show up in an update if it's not concrete. I have my beloved Road Atlanta already anyway :D

Pretty sure that is a Valkyrie. Can't figure what the righthand car is though. Looked a bit like an E46 GTR, the race version, but on closer inspection the bonnet vents are not quite right.

edit oh yeah, Mitsubishi Evo III - as has already been been pointed out

Great to see two GT classics return (including my favourite Impreza generation), along with a modern hypercar. The Impreza may also be the first post-launch Brand Central+UCD car.

As for events, the Valkyrie will definitely get a Hypercar Parade for it, while for the Impreza and Evo, I can see either some more Japanese 4WD 600s or Japanese Clubman 550s.

Looking forward to the Valkyrie, hopefully we get some new useful events for the cars as doing the "big 3" is getting very tiring as of recently.
