In real life you spend the whole race chasing the rabbit. You probably won't win and people still enjoy it.
No. People enjoy real life racing for the racing. Everyone starts at the same time, packs form, you have fights with other cars for lap after lap. You go a tenth faster one lap, the guy ahead pulls ahead 2 tenths the next lap. You finish 14th and you've enjoyed it.

GTs catch the rabbit format is not like that at all. It's however many cars spaced out one at a time which have 0% difficulty to overtake. You don't fight them over multiple corners, never mind laps. The car at the back (you) runs several seconds a lap faster than everyone else in the race, and your only barrier to victory is time running out. If you run out of time and only finish 4th, you've still not had a race. You've done a time trial with moving chicanes occasionally getting in your way.

My thing why does everyone have to have these cars right now? And I agree with you guys 12.M? Nahh they can keep that 😆
In all fairness, there are many people who are interested in driving vintage racing cars and this feels like a slap in the face to them.

They should be expensive, sure, but not this expensive. People who want them to drive purely for fun instead of having it merely as a flashy status symbol are going to be very dissapointed with this, myself included.

While GT has always been about appreciating cars, I feel they’re leaning too heavily into the “rich snobby collector” side of things and it irks me.

Yea they should make at least arcade mode where people can drive them! I agree with you big time!

At the very least let people drive these cars, even if they can't own them. Let us have an hour test drive with any car in the game at least.

People are constantly talking about "Earning" and "working" for cars in this game, they seem to forgot the sole purpose of the game is to have fun.

Another great idea would be to have an option for online lobbies where you can select any car in the game. No upgrades allowed, but every tire compound is available.

Could be turned on/off by the host's discretion and cars that are being rented could have a symbol by them to indicate that, so the people who did actually do races etc. to get them through dealerships will still be able to show off.

Honestly it would make ownership that much better, Forza does something like this where you drive the cars but you don’t get CR for it. Sorta like renting.. or again let people drive them in free mode rent mode whatever.. maybe if I got to try one of the classics I would buy one… but normally I see that price and I’m like yeah ok 😂

It would just work amazingly for leagues and be a huge boost for GT's league racing community.

Want to host a classic Le Mans tribute league? Simply turn on the renting option and people can flood in and select their desired classic Le Mans car.
The people who just want to drive these cars are happy and the ones who want to show off their hard-earned cars are happy. Simple!

This right here. I was looking forward to driving this bad boy the most:

But I have to wait for it to show up one day on the legendary dealership, hopefully on a day that I'm available to play otherwise the car's gone AND be hopeful that it won't cost a bazillion Cr which let's be honest, it will.

That would be solved by simply unlocking the content in arcade mode and letting us try it out.

Another great idea PD could've done is gift us these cars through winning gruelling, highest chilli-pepper endurance races. Another way to make people "work for it" instead of this silly grind the same race 100 times nonsense.

EDIT: Oh, and it would be an amazing opportunity to really take advantage of their advanced dynamic time and weather systems. But alas...

Indeed. Throw up a 5 or 10 race championship with each race lasting 45 minutes like the old games. THAT would be "earning" a car.

This. But with the option to save mid-championship. Having to do them all in one go is frustrating, it's hard to get several hours in a row available to do things like that. But that would be the best way to offer a route to earning the cars proper.

To add to the championship thing, saving mid-championship would be something in PD's wheelhouse on what they can do as they already did something like it in GT5. Allowing a save feature for endurance events and back in GT4; you could exit a championship without completely retiring from it. Meaning players could come back from the start.

EDIT: Also, I think I know another thing PD might change in an update. In some of the races with chicanes or s-curves like Spa and La Sarthe; you can kinda get away with just cutting through those. Making it easier to win the events.

Yeah, I'm definitely not going to waste time right now getting the XJ13. I've delayed saving for the Porsche Carrera GT long enough, I'm going for that next. It was my first invitation (among 4 now) and I'm flippin' doing it. Mainly because I just plain want to try it.

After that, I'm aiming at the Ford GTs in Brand Central plus the Shelby GT350R.

We had Shuffle Racing in GT5 Online. It was similar but you couldn't choose the car. You got to experience cars you didn't own. Made for some fun and frustrating racing lol.

In a way, that’s like real racing. Everyone chases the fastest car to win. Many racers don’t win: talent, budget, car set up. If a players car isn’t fully tuned, there’s less chance to chase the rabbit. For these races, prizes are awarded for not finishing first. Again, yes, the object of racing is to win overall. However, racing can still be fun, by just seeing how well a player does, regardless of going for the win.
In what real race does the pole sitter start half a lap ahead of last spot in a field of 20 cars? If you think the ‘chase the rabbit’ races in GT7 even remotely resembles real racing, you’ve either not played GT7 or you’ve never seen a real race.

I would be happy with a 2 wide rolling start.

Or it could be the same way as GT4 where the cars would be in a single line close to each other, but as they pass the line they go full throttle.
