I'm somewhat confident this is not snow conditions, just some bugged rain effects became all white and happened to look like snow
The main light source is out of its normal position. This look in the video can be replicated by placing it under the track.

The surface itself can be made to look white and snowy by messing with a few settings.

I suspect that GT7 is already the Prologue of GT8, which could be released in 2024 or 2025, with all the glory of the PS5 hardware.
This excuse has been going for a solid decade now.

GT5 was just a prologue for GT6, which will fix all the problems. GT6 is just a prologue for a real next gen PS4 version - oops, we got GTS. GTS is just a prologue for GT7 which will be a real GT game again.

These were all full games in their own right. The prologue thing is just a way of making excuses for games that have great potential but aren't up to the standard that they should be.
If GT8 were to come out, what would differentiate it from GT7? Besides better graphics. Honest question.

Where would all the new cars and tracks come from?
I don't think you would need lots of new cars and tracks to make a meaningfully new game. I mean, it would be nice (and sort of expected) that there be new content, but imagine if you had to take just the tracks and cars from GT7 and make a game. What do you do?

-Massively expand and improve the career. Include improved AI, qualifying, and a range of difficulty levels.
-Massively expand and improve the online modes. Include both synchronous and asynchronous play, as well as daily/weekly/monthly challenges. Also, shuffle racing.
-Selling cars, obviously.

That's a good start right there, and done well enough would be worthy of an entirely new game. Going into the specifics of what an improved career or online would look like is a whole topic unto itself so let's just assume it's whatever you think would be really good. What else could we add?

-A proper course maker is a popular request. Include the ability to share online.
-An improved event creator would be cool too. Include an advanced mode with very granular control of AI and other parameters. Include the ability to share your events online.
-People liked the idea of B-Spec. Maybe a management sim on the side would be a more engaging way to do that?
-Endurance races where you actually do reasonable stints, and the AI takes over in between. You can watch the AI do it's stint if you want or just skip to your next stint. You can save in the pit stops and go do something else if you want, but no save scumming.
-Time/weather on all circuits, including snow/ice where appropriate. Suitable tyres to be included.

I think you can do more than enough with the current content of GT7 to warrant the purchase price of a new game without adding any car/track content at all. It just requires some moderately difficult design work and the ability to iterate through builds and find what's fun. But that's video game design.

I noticed something with the 2005 MINI, if you install sports hard tyres and a sports exhaust you can then install a racing air filter and the PP rating will actually go down despite the rest of the car's overall stats improving.
You might be choking the car out by running too lean as a result. Maybe PD changes the way the manifold and air filter are integrated.

Or then again, it's PD being PD, with their quality control antics, and it's just a bug.

Yes, those are all good ways to make the game feel new. Going by this, GT7 was always designed to be a stopgap. Other than improved graphics and physics, it feels exactly like GT Sport in so many ways. Sure, there is something to be said for consistency and living up to the "identity", as some have called it, but as someone who almost strictly plays in sport mode, it doesn't feel very fresh at all. Though I still love the game, I can't help but feel it's because I play an average of three or four days a month lately. And even then, is it the game I'm loving or a combination of the game and the community, as I tend to have pretty good races online.

If all of PD's resources went into the making of GT7, then I don't have high hopes for GT8 to feel like anything other than GT Sport 3.0. At this point, I do hope the drip feed is to minimally sate us as they work on a true PS5 game.

I think casual fans won't be hyped at all for the next game unless there is a massive amount of features being marketed. I look at my friends list and other than the fine folks from GTP, about 80% of the people who bought GT7 at launch have played less than an hour and have only bought one car. The rest stopped after the menu books and I haven't seen them come back for any of the updates.

*Edit - and why would they come back? Casuals aren't going to want to gold all the Circuit Experiences just to be able to buy cars. I can't imagine their frustration at not being able to afford cars because their skill level is less than the hardcore.

Even if they did, CE is a one time cash injection that amounts to only 10% of the total credits needed to get just one of every car in the game. In practical terms, it's only enough for two $20 mil LCD cars (assuming they don't also shoot up in price in the future to match their real life valuations or that PD doesn't jack other cars up to $20 mil like they're doing with the W194).

Ah the PD magic touch of changing something that didn't need to be changed and making it worse.

First they neutered the force feedback, now they've gone and killed the visual feedback. Were people getting eye strain from the optional cockpit cam? Look at how the car responds going over the kerb at 1:33.

Scuderia Ferrari F1 strategy team aprooves that!

Maybe, we need no GT8, as Phil Spencer stated, in future he want away from the exclusive platform games. „No matter which plastic you use, you can play the games you want“
So we probably can play Forza on PlayStation base

I don't think it's stopgap, and I think all of their resources went into making GT7. This is just what they think a good game looks like, and it's the best they can do.

At this stage of the game, I wouldn't bank on GT8 being a major departure from the established formula at all. Add in that GT7 seems to be selling more or less in line with non-GT6 Gran Turismo games, and there's really not much incentive for them to change anything.

The only thing I can see shaking the system up is if FM8 is somehow just astonishingly better than GT7. Like not just pretty good, GT3 in 2001 levels of dominance over every other racing game that exists. I don't think that's possible in the modern age, and even then Polyphony could just chill on the fact that they're on a closed platform and Playstation owners have to buy something.

Never gonna happen until hell frezes , also he said that to crossplay

Ah. So they adjusted the event so you can't make a no-stop strategy anymore? That sucks. Still think the tyre wear cliff is bugged because I shouldn't be dropping 16 seconds from one lap to the next. And the hyper sensitive mechanical damage is still an annoyance that I hope they revert.

But thanks for informing me that the multiplier for that event has changed. Might need to find a different car that can make a one-stop strategy work. Been using a Nissan GT-R Gr.4 which is great in the corners, but loses out on the straights.
I'm super late to your post, but a no-stop strategy still works with cars like the Evo V or the R32 if you use RH tires. Those two can do the whole race on FM1 and tire wear is not a problem with them.

For the Evo you need to buy a custom gearbox, since the default gearbox locks you at 240 km/h. Mine is set at 320 and works great.

It's also possible to do this with not so much fuel efficiency cars like the R33, R34, Supra and Fairlady if you use FM 3-4 during the whole race.
My R33 has Racing Air Filters and Weight Reduction level 1. In my experience, WR1 is great to have better acceleration and "survive" the long straight. With this setup I can finish in 27:20-27:30, which is more than 25 seconds ahead of 2nd place.

It's basically what I use for most cars in this race: WR 1, Fully Custom ECU and, if needed (or if you just like the sound), Racing Air Filter/Sports Silencer.

Since Gt5, they usually drop a big update just before christmas. Secondly after 8/12 months they usually realese a spec 2 with big changement. Let’s see
That is not really a thing though, is it? There was a big Christmas update for GT Sport during its first year, but that was just because the game was released shortly before that and lacking content quite a lot, and that update was suppose to fix that at least a bit. And GT5 is the only game which ever recieved Spec 2, and it happened in October.

Exactly, and Spec 2.0 was released the same day Forza 4 released. Zero chance that was a coincidence.

If there is going to be any large updates to GT7 though, I'd wager it will be right around the time FM8 releases next year.

So I just found out that PS4 Pro has "Supersampling mode" (just bought it this March so I don't know much yet) . Is it recommended for this game to activated it or not?

I don't know if this is related but yesterday, for the first time in my life, I had the back of my eyes and brain hurting while playing with wobble 2 (I think I was using the Gr.3 Mercedes). Is that what they use to call motion sickness??
Then I changed it to wobble 1 and the strange feeling and pain went away. Very weird.

If you're playing on a 1080p display, it's better to leave it on 1080p mode as you get motion blur during gameplay and x8 MSAA iirc, as well as unlocked framerate replays. If you're playing on a 4K display it'll make no difference.

The problem with wobble 2 was the head movement was too overpowered. While the head movement might be realistic, it didn’t allow for your eyes to more or less stay still, like IRL.

I also recently tried Wobble 2, and it was actually the first time in my life I got experience a hint of motion sickness. Not the sort of pain you mention, but just a weird uneasy feeling that felt like a precursor to nausea.

Her disappointed facial expression is like mine when I reached the GT7 end credits six days after getting the game.

If you didn't know that:

  • A bunch of corporate social media accounts all started tweeting single-word posts yesterday because Amtrak tweeted "trains", and
  • The GT Twitter is managed by a social media specialist firm and not PD or Sony

You'd be excused for thinking that Tweeting "cars" 10 minutes after your game's website came back following a five-hour outage - with no other communication of any kind - was pretty bizarre.

Sometimes I'll finish a long race and feel my neck is suddenly stiff from only moving my eyes x.x
