I've just given this a go, 5 laps in Gr4 cars at Tsukuba.

11th to 3rd without trying and I haven't driven against the AI in GTS in months.

Clean race bonus as well so I played fair, they still brake mid corner fir no reason, hardly defend, etc.

Is it better than career mode? Yes, but it's still far from great.

Did let me get the Flying Lizard Livery out again however

I know, I just wanted to give a sort of an option, PD probably doesn't read this forum anyway, but it shows that even without touching anything, it could at least be better, it's like they gimp their own game on purpose :indiff:. To me the actual driving feels great, but the racing is just not good, it's better in 90% of racing games since the PS360 era :(.

The PS3 GTs were not good because PD struggled a lot with the hardware, ok why not. Then comes GT sport, focusing exclusively on Online, that's cool, I really liked it. So what have they done for all those years ?

What I proposed would improve the racing and it would feel more rewarding to do all those Career events, it probably takes less than a day for a dev to unlock the options in Carrer. I don't get why they won't do something like that, I just don't...I've thought it should be like that since GT5 and I was like 10yo. I think the studio needs a restructuring, starting from the top.

You're not counting the redesigns (not upscales, total redesigns) of classic GT courses, and the remodels of real world courses that were already in the game as work done if you only see it as 'no brand new tracks upon release'. They count as work done, trips that have to be made (in a pandemic) for the real tracks, and as value added to the final product, even on release day.

If they hadn't included the GT originals, fans would have complained to a similar degree that they were absent. If they simply upscaled them, people would complain the fantasy layouts are bland or aren't suitable for serious racing. And if they had simply brought the real world tracks forward with no adjustments, fans would be upset by the end of a 2 minute real life comparison video.

That's all wihout saying the change in standards, and consequently the time and resources required for new tracks in 2022, especially compared to mainline releases of the past.
As I already said, GTS launched with twelve new locations. If you take the four redesigns of classic locations that is still a net negative of eight locations.

Whilst I'm sure some of the real world tracks have had a bit of work I'm not aware of any that would have changed substantially?

Spa is currently being renovated in real life but not finished yet so no chance they've done that one. They might have done Barcelona but it's one corner.

I will, just as all members are free to do, air my views, be they positive or negative.

I've discussed a good number of things I feel are positive about what we have seen in GT7 so far, I note that you have not asked me to tone those down? Are you asking people who repeatedly praise the same thing or post the same positive view to stop doing so because "No one disagrees with you"?

The AUP does not require a positive view for GTS or any title, rather we encourage an exchange of ideas and views both positive and negative, and to be honest, the consistent attacks, either against specific members or as a whole, against anyone perceived to be too negative, is of far more concern.
Thank you.

The only reason we have to keep reiterating our position on the AI is because people keep trying to defend it, recently with absurd reasoning.
Sorry to waste your time with absurdity.

Interesting that no one as far as I'm aware has referenced this published by Play Station.

It states what happens when you first open Gran Turismo 7 and the requirements to open up Tuning etc.

I'm sure some will not be happy !

Other than being forced to start with the Music Rally, which I have zero interest in, the rest is pretty much what I expected.

No issue here.

I think most people complaining about the complaints don't get it. People love this franchise, but it's just not as good as it could be, but at the same time there is really not much to change to greatly improve it, this is why it is frustrating, after 2 average GT (gimped by a very complex hardware) and a standalone episode.

Also the argument for the real driving simulator.

After all these years, the claim is real driving. Thos of us that drive in real life, we pilot the car. Some can drive better than others. That’s all this game is doing. Simulating driving, as if driving for real. As long as the car is moving, it’s being driven. Now, the degree of accuracy is the main issue. However, it simulates the tagline enough. They’ve copyrighted the saying so mariokart can’t label that game as such.

Racing is so clear cut, why is it debatable? Solo against a clock or versus another driver. That’s racing.

It does seem pretty awful how game modes unlock gradually. Hopefully it only takes an hour to open the game properly. Otherwise the good old sandbox appeal is dead.

It comes from people who want their cake and to be able to eat it as well. The ability to elevate GT as somehow more sophisticated then the genre it is in as a way to shield from legitimate criticisms about how GT has not ultimately done enough to better the main core of the game. That is, the racing. Sure, PD can say they have, but why should I believe them, when other clips have shown the contrary?

Looking at the video, noticed during the Interlagos clip, some GT3(RS01 Ford GTE LM) cars have headlights on and some (R8 Evo, 650S, RX-V Stealth) only have the DRLs on. Hope we can switch headlights on and off, like previous games. The GTS hi-low beam only when allowed, was killing me.

Igor Fraga said something important:

In the State of Play only 25 circuits were numbered. That way, there would still be NINE CIRCUITS to be revealed before launch.

That would awesome if there is still some more tracks to be revealed

Kaz in the interview also stated the possibility to change difficulty in career
Even better.:D I think settings to change difficulty is majorly needed as long the AI does not increase chances of a 'chase the rabbit' situation or better yet, scrap it completely.

Hopefully they would get rid of the chase the rabbit. Just bring back qualifying. Let me choose to start at the back of the pack and not have it forced on me. To me it creates an artificial challenge

They didn't show any qualify system yet, maybe just for endurance and advanced long championships events?
Qualifying brings back some some ol' GT1 memories. I think it's good if they utilised it for long championships rather than short or events that require individual entry.

They're not all marked/numbered because the user hasnt unlocked them all yet. See the previous menu.

In regards to the chase the rabbit, depending what stage of the game this is in the lip below, dual rolling starts is, hopefully, a thing.

The corner aids and driving line are on. Maybe it's a Mission, Arcade race, Beginner AI Championship race(it shows 12 cars, with the focused car in top half of the grid). Could be track based. Having double file starts, at tracks which feature 24H races. I don't know.

Okay the first thing I'm confused about is the Toyota Aqua having 12.6 more PP than the Honda Fit Hybrid, yet they both weigh the same and the Aqua makes half the horsepower.

Speaking of confusion:

Playstation Blog
The first task to complete is using some provided in-game credits to purchase a used car of your choice (in this case, a Toyota Aqua S ’11)…

The first Menu Book request is to acquire three Japanese compact cars, one of which you already purchased earlier.

Doesn’t sound like much of a choice then.

Never thought I'd see that in my lifetime holy. If we could customize the paramaters for more realism it would be better, but this will do. Can't believe we are happy about such a simple feature but hey

You think we'll be able to make racecars in everything but name outta road cars with the tuning parts? Kinda useless with Gr3/Gr4 cars around but would still be very entertaining

I'm okay with this.

Mine will be in Cool Soda Metallic.

They'll still be buffed up road cars that won't weigh as little, have optimized weight distro, or the aero/tire sizes of the pure racecars. Regardless of what you do you might be able to out drag one but the Gr.3 cars will still be quicker over a lap.

I'm not sure that's the only things PP takes into account though. Tyres, handling and braking all come in to play as well I think, and being a second hand car there's also a (very slight) possibility they're not quite stock.

I’m quite sure that power and weight were the only metrics for PP measurement in previous GT titles. Maybe this has changed for GT7, but I can definitely see used cars having the chance of random tuning parts being fitted on them from the get go.
