I’m quite sure that power and weight were the only metrics for PP measurement in previous GT titles. Maybe this has changed for GT7, but I can definitely see used cars having the chance of random tuning parts being fitted on them from the get go.
It has changed, Kazunori has stated that the game simulates the cars performance on a track in the background and does that each time when you make changes and it's that simulation that determines the PP rather than x bhp + y torque z weight which creates outliers and cars that vastly under or over perform for their rating.

Oh man, this game looks incredible. I absolutely love every element about it! The only nit-pick I can see so far, and I hope perhaps it's added in a later patch, is the ability to add forced induction on naturally aspirated cars.

We’ll, put it this way, the condition of the engine will be a factor in PP. We saw that in the clips. Chassis could be worn too. The Demio has less miles, but might need an oil change. Maybe the diesel needs more servicing than the hybrids.

This could lead to some interesting races, cars with a lot of power but bad handling and opposite. However it will be very track dependant.

At least this way you're less likely to have certain cars that are dominant in their PP class across the board like has happened previously.

Forza 3 and 4 did this quite well, if you ever played them. on tracks with mixed techincals and straights, you would really see the heavier cars with more power, pull away on the faster parts of the track, but always drop a few positions during the twisties.

You know what's funny is that PD had a lot of exceptional players (presumably who's time they didn't pay for) to gauge their feedback about anything related to the game and from an outside perspective it's made no difference to what PD were going to do anyway

That's because it only matters what Kaz thinks. If he thinks it good it's good. Or least that's the way it seems looking from the outside

We already know all 34 locations. There are no locations left to be revealed. Certainly not nine.
What is location 34?? I have counted 33 so far

Undoubtedly - but then why bother wasting everyone's time asking for feedback if they were going to ignore it anyway?

It's free labour I guess...

What's crazier is, the Demio PP. It has way more torque than both those cars.
Perhaps PP decreases with mileage if you don’t change the oil or overhaul the engine? Probably not, but yesterday I was reading an excellent thread by @Hastatus detailing the degradation of BHP in GT6 as the miles pile up. It could be the case that the Fit and Aqua have had their oil changed and engines overhauled sooner than the Demio.

It’s likely not that and instead what @FPV MIC said, but just a thought.

Okay the first thing I'm confused about is the Toyota Aqua having 12.6 more PP than the Honda Fit Hybrid, yet they both weigh the same and the Aqua makes half the horsepower.

Toyota Aqua HP is listed as 122 in the SoP video (it's worth noting that IRL it's rated at 132HP combined so mileage/age might be affecting the stats of the used cars). The 72 HP number I'm assuming you saw is just the gas engine. The Prius C/Aqua makes 6 lb-ft of torque more than the Fit Hybrid too. So, strictly in terms of HP/Torque/Weight, the cars are pretty comparable. As others have mentioned, there is almost certainly more that goes into determining PP.

The Demio has way more torque than the other two, but has less power and is heavier than both (still seems like the best value though in terms of specs/PP, depending on the effects of mileage).

Yeah, I had left my message mid-way for a little while and then when I posted it, more messages had been posted, so I didn’t see yours when I was writing it.

Playstation Blog
The first task to complete is using some provided in-game credits to purchase a used car of your choice (in this case, a Toyota Aqua S ’11)…

The first Menu Book request is to acquire three Japanese compact cars, one of which you already purchased earlier.
This has got me thinking: would the menu book still be listed as "complete" if you no longer own the cars?

Does anyone other than me find the old menu design more interesting than the current one? Seeing the GT Music Rally and the bizarre animations of the loading screen with the mechanics of GT Auto, makes me think that Kaz really wanted to make the game design (UX/UI) more cartoonish and pleasant to young people.

Kaz already explained his rationale for the new hub design, but of course we still need to ask again and pull the "but generation Z" card

In terms of sales, no. In terms of racing titles aiming to take GT4's crown, we had plenty that generation, they all failed. In terms of better driving simulators, we had three, the weakest to be able to argue that point would be the first Forza (but you would have had to buy a new console for that), then we had Richard Burns Rally and Enthusia, both of which were better sims than GT4 and still hold up in that area even today.

Untrue, we have already seen race events and championships in GT7, they are accessed via the World Circuits menu option, and race events also seem to be able to be accessed via the GT Cafe option.
Forza 1 was the first "racing sim " I played ... with a controller. When I bought a G25, a PS2 & GT4, I was in a different universe. I also played a lot of Enthusia, which had its strong points, but was altogether too quirky & eccentric to stand up against the might of GT4. I didn't realize that RBR had been released for PS2 & Xbox - I thought it was only a PC game.

I think most people complaining about the complaints don't get it.
Agreed.

They need to up their game and complain about peeps' complaining about the complaints.

I have nothing to contribute on that front 'cause, well, I have no complaints. As Con the Fruiterer's wife Marika famously-and-repeatedly said [use falsetto voice here], "I no complain".

I still have a PS2 copy

I have to say the feature which has me the most intrigued is the new enhanced custom races. In the trailer it mentions "AI cars of your choice", if that's referring to the ability to create custom grids than that would be a game changer. It does show multi-class racing when it refers to this. This would be huge when it comes to the possibilities of different racing experiences and combinations. I believe this would be the equivalent of an online experience without having to go online and would also be better racing because you won't have intentional rammers ruining your race.

Imagine setting up grids with no speed bumps which are cars that are significantly slower than you. All cars would be of similar performance because that's how you set it up.

The ability to change the grids to match only cars in certain classes would also be fantastic. Having Gr 1 races with only Group C cars, Gr 4 with only FF cars, Gr 3 with no OP or meta car, Super GT with only cars from 2008, etc. All cars would be useful, especially if you could create grids consisting entirely of your own customized cars. You could basically create your own campaign mode with no chase the rabbit format, unless if you want that format :boggled:. No cars in exactly the same order making the experience repetitive and stale. The possibilities would almost be endless with custom races!

New cars and tracks being added with DLC will greatly enhance the experience as well! It would make GT7 an endless game even after you complete all the campaign mode. The only downside would be having to manually set up the races but the extra effort would definitely be worth it if it enhances your racing experience and enjoyment. By far the best feature if it is indeed the case!

Hopefully PD provides decent list filters so we can choose opponents and put custom races together quickly.

Ultimate Arcade Mode, this could be...
Even better would be savable/editable race and championship templates. You could have a template that is a blank canvas for 9 (or whatever) races as a championship. You go in and pick your tracks, classes, track and race conditions. Then select your AI from your garage. An option for auto pick could also be available for those that dont care for the possible customisation.

It would be pretty cool to set up a series with the AI being cars with your choice of tunes/mods and liveries. If it's editable then if you want to make a similar series with a different class you just copy it to a new slot then edit as you wish.

You could go one further and have them sharable, so if you made a really good series other players would be racing against your cars if they wanted to.

I'm no Dev, but I cant imagine given the things you see in games now that it would be a difficult thing to make available. If you use the championship template it automatically keeps a championship scoreboard, individual race templates are just stand alone.
