I haven't read the entire thread, so I don't know if this has been mentioned before.
I noticed the fuel consumption of my BRZ GT300 has gone up slightly. I used to be able to do 8.3 laps flat out in the Spa 1 hour race, now it is 7.9 laps. A 5% increase in consumption.
I will keep an eye whether this is also the case with other cars and races.

Not with me, fuel consumption has gone down with me, i could do 5 laps with my C9 now i can do 11 on level 1. Mind you, Fuel pit stop refuel has increased big time, i remember it used to take forever but adding a few laps now matter greatly.

Not sure if this counts so apologies if not, but the De Tomaso Mangusta (Christian Dior) doesn't appear to have the Blue Book icon to show if you own it or not in Hagertys, even once you purchase it. Also don't really understand why all the release blurb doesn't list this vehicle with the other 3 new cars.
I can confirm this. I thought it charged me for buying it & I didn't get it Lol! I was livid for a minute🤣

Cars pull to the side when tread is fully worn, which is a nice touch. Never experienced this before the update so I presume this is a new inclusion.
I've experienced this with a real car. It is no fun👎

Seems that the CSA assist (on controller) that would activate even if you had the setting turned off has been removed/fixed. Before in cockpit view you would see the driver correct the car without player input but now it just brings his hands back to neutral if you let go of the stick like it was in Sport.

Is it me or does it seem like the cars take damage easier now?
I do believe this is how PD fixes the problem of the "wall riding" drivers trying to get an advantage that was evident in the past Manufacturers Race at High Speed Ring,

the slightest touch of a wall will give you damage and a hard pull the the opposite side of damage and if you hit it a bit harder you will damage the motor which will cut power by 50%...

As you noted yourself, the grip isn't affected as the tyres aren't actually wearing more or faster. The visual indicator has just changed to be more representative.
Actually, they are wearing faster now. .....at least, that's been my experience so far.

With the 30 minute race at Sarthe (before the update) I was able to run the entire race (about 8 laps) on Racing Hard tires if there was no rain with relatively minor degradation. I ran it today and by luck, the rain wasn't a factor so I intended to simply refuel after 4 laps. However, toward the end of those laps, the left front was entirely red and the car started pushing on right turns. .....sent me off the track as the understeer on right corners was horrendous.

Performance during wear seemed similar to before however up to the point of what is essentially failure when they turn completely red. I also noticed a tad bit more tail happiness in the Gr4 Corvette I used but nothing definitive in that respect IMO.

All in all, I do like the new behavior. Just something new to get used to.

People have always wanted realistic damage, and you can't just limit that to the visual side of things. I welcome this change.

FFB was tweaked. My wheel was heavier at my current settings. DD Pro 8. Better? Maybe a bit more tire feedback, bit more curb, can’t say much more yet. Turned FOR from 110 to 100 and sens in game from 9 to 8 to get back to about the same strength. Torque stays at 3. Wheel FFB at 100 still.

Just drove my first 1.20 races. I also believe FFB is different. For me it feels better. Like RS60NR says, more tire and curb feedback. Haven’t changed any setting yet, might test some more tomorrow.

@RACECAR

They changed the default settings of the Ford GT Race Car 2018, and I’m sure they probably have for many other cars.

Now the damping comp is 25 vs 30 from before, and rebound is 45 vs 40.

LSD has changed to 18:30:45, before it was 15:45:50.

Edit: Aero balance has been substantially changed, with front being near minimum at 410.

Anyone noticed that saving/loading custom race settings from pre-race menu no longer crashes the game?

EDIT: No, crashes still occur.

Try it before you comment, whilst I agree I think it is too powerful now.

The slightest brush with a wall and you get crazy damage.
I think they should tone it down a bit. Even touching the wall gently simulates bending that wheel at like a twenty degree angle. :scared:

I'm yet to play it since tge update, and whilst this does sound a step or two too far, it should make people think about driving more cautiously. At present you can use ai as a bumpers with little repercussion. Same as online.

On the PS5 i see a major improvement in graphics:

  • heavy rain is more distiguisable from light rain
  • reflections visible in puddles
  • lights shine brighter
  • headslights now cast shadows
  • athmospheric effects are more distiguisable
  • wind visible in rain
  • Rain drops go latteral when cornering
  • sunset reflects on water (ground)
  • tailights are more detailed.

I play the spa 1mil race daily and I noticed a difference immediately. Only tried it at spa.

You guys seeing the same? Can anyone confrim?

It's not just walls.

Running Daily A last night I went too fast into a corner, hit the brakes and lost control, causing me to slide into the sand. At no point did I make contact with any walls. That caused damage to my front right - engine and wheel.

The damage simulation needs to be refined and toned down a bit.

I am a huge fan of the damage chances even though i was one of those that didn't want "real" damage. After 3 races earning money for that MP4 i got used to it, and i like that i have to be extra careful. I hope they implement it in Sports mode.

It is in Sport, it's a universal change.

All this has been there since launch. Wind in rain is spoken about in a YouTuber video comparing weather in different games back when it launched. Digital foundry spoke about headlights casting shadows. Reflections of every kind that you mentioned where there at launch. Everything was there at launch.

Looks the same to me on PS4 fwiw

When it comes to tires, I am still not sure, if the tires actually wear faster or if it is just the indicators on the hud, that now, after that update, actually really picture the tire wear ...

Before the update, the indicators showed less than 10% with racing hards, but I had no grip at all..now those indicators show me,that my tires are 30% low or more, which makes more sense to me....

I’m sure they wear out faster. I’m not fooled by the indicator. I’m a certified Sardegna grinder. Won with every G1, G2, G3 and several G4 cars.

I can usually run RH FM 6 and zero stop or 1 stop at lap 9 for fuel. I never changed tires. I do now. Every time.

Maybe I’m crazy but did they change the sound effects for the Car Wash? I don’t remember the sound of a bucket of water splashing before the sounds of scrubbing. Is it one of those “changes to the controller” and now I can hear it where I couldn’t before? I do have my controller volume turned down to less than 50%.

My experience is that the tyre wear is slightly better. Yes the indicator reduces quicker, but the grip is more consistent. One thing I did notice at LeMans is that RHs on a damp track perform so much better!
