I think one way for updates to be less disappointing or less controversial, at least for most players, would be for PD to adopt a holistic and stable policy, every two month.

  • One road car (Brand Central and Used Cars)
  • One sports car (Brand Central and Used Cars)
  • One legendary car (Legend Cars)
  • One race car (Sport Mode).

As for the circuits, a circuit could be added every four months, alternating between an original one and a real one.

Of course, I'm speaking from an idealistic perspective. Perhaps, with some forethought, this would not be difficult to accomplish.

I think this would please greeks and trojans, street car lovers and race car lovers, single player lovers and sport mode lovers.
YEs, but i think that it ll always have people criticise PD

Yup.

"BUT, why that model? Why that year? Aw, man! The other one would been way better"

"What good is this sports car? I wanted the racing version(I'm definitely guilty of this one)!"

"Is that car really worthy of legendary status? I can name a few hundred that are way more significant than that one. C'mon, PD! What a waste of resources..."

"Too many race cars. We can't even use it with other race cars(valid point)."

By the way, Server Maintenance Notice is on the website(obviously).

If it is the Kei version, at least the widebody could offer the Sierra arches, so long as they make the Swift Sport engine a new swap.
But if we widebody the Sierra, which is already the widebody version of the Jimny, would it be widebody-ception?

You hit the nail on the head...Swift Sport engine would be the perfect swap into this, but that makes WAY too much sense for PD. IRL, I've had multiple friends that swapped Swift GTI 1.3 DOHC engines into their Samurais and they were stupid in a good way.

Anyways, all I really wanna say is "More Zuks plz"

The last January content update in a GT game was literally 5 years ago. A lot of companies shut down over the new year and I'm guessing PD is no different.

People are reading way too much into this I think.
It's not so much the lack of December/January update, but more the pattern of how long GT Sport was supported with regular content and whether PD will have the same timeline for GT7.

Oct 2017 - GTS released
Dec 2019 - last big update with 7 cars and Laguna Seca (2 years and 2 months of regular updates)
Feb 2020 - 3 cars
Rest of 2020 - 3 cars (GR Supra, Mazda RXV, GR Yaris)
2021 - 1 car (GR86)

Mar 2022 - GT7 released
Nov 2023 - Spec 2.0 update with 7 cars and Lake Louise (1 year and 8 months of regular updates)
Jan 2024 - 3 cars
Rest of 2024 - ???

So worst case scenario we will see regular updates till July 2024, and then if PD follows GTS timeline probably only a smattering of promotional cars from then on. Of course apart from PD themselves no one can say for sure. Given that we get fewer cars on average per month in GT7 compared to GTS, it's possible PD is planning to trickle out the updates over a longer time period. But at some point they will need to shift focus to GT8, and given the 4-5 year gap between games, PD usually shifts focus around the halfway mark which is coming up in 2024.

Of course no more content updates doesn't mean in game activity will stop. PD keeps refreshing dailys and TTs for GTS long after GT7 is released after all. And even if we get no more content, there are still LOADS of unused combos from stuff we already have. For Sport mode regulars this game doesn't really need more content, but better utilisation of existing content. Will adding a 296 GT3 really make a difference if it's going to be hard to drive and eats rear tyres like the 458 we already have? Will adding a new Gr.4 means people will use it if the Mazda BOP is still broken? Even if a new track gets added after a month people will get bored again. Meanwhile tracks like St Croix and Tokyo are rarely used, and we rarely get weather in dailys.

And no matter what PD will never satisfy everyone. Their development rate has always been slow. If you compare it to moddable sims on PC there is just no comparison. So I just take what I get. I may complain but I've been with the series 25 years to know it won't change anytime soon  If people realise this the forums will be a much peaceful place. But then again I'm sure Jordan prefers more controversy and activity than none :P

It’s amazing how people are so negative after PD teases only 3 cars for the update after the holiday period! I’m also sure I read somewhere that Japanese culture favours more towards New Year than Xmas so there’s a good chance this is the reason for the potentially small update.

Also just an FYI this is the 19th content update and 11 of those have only been 3 cars (58%). There has been a total of 67 cars added (averaging 3.5 cars/update).

I think it’s a bit early to actually say this is the end of the road for GT7!

Have to say, why all the negativity? We have all paid for the game and are fans, PD will have a roadmap of releases and that's what they are doing, we don't get a say! And bug fixes aside they don't have to give us any extra content for free but they chose to do so and I would be amazed if the content we do do get isn't influenced but the car industry, licencing etc dictating what can be released when. I bet they have models on the self so to speak ready to go once they are able to as that's how the world works and they can't just do what they want.

Personally, no complaints from me, I still play the game, only in vr as it's sooo good and I enjoy each car that comes out.

I'm also in the the Jimmy camp, great addition!!!

Yes I want more features, tracks and cars but they are just good bonuses when they come along!

The thing with the GT Sport content rampdown is Kaz outright warned us about it in the Feb 2020 silhouettes:

I'd like to think we'd get the same notification if GT7 content updates were to be ending.

IMO compairing GTS to GT7 is compairing apples to oranges.

Frequent and meaty content updates where very much the premise under which GTS released.

Unlike GTS GT7 released as a complete game - despite what some may say ;)

So I wouldn't draw any conclusions.

I would assume the following life cycle for a game, or in this case GT7:
1. Launch
2. Fixing bugs, omissions, adjusting bad gameplay decisions
3. Increasing content through updates
4. Midlife facelift/mild restructuring of game
5. Some more content through updates
6. Marked slowdown of new content as PD ramps up development cycle for next new title GT8
7. No new content releases as content is reserved for new title
8. Launch of new title GT8

We have just had 4 with Spec II and are now in phase 5. I don't think we are in phase 6 yet, it's too soon after spec II.

While I don’t think GT7 content updates are about to end, modesty in frequency and volume has been the life story of GT7 updates.

Back in the GT Sport days it wasn’t unusual to get like 14 cars within two months. GT7 never had this pace.

Business is Business ;):D:lol:

Well, it's not scientific, but it seems like a widebody Jimny Sierra turns into a Jeep Renegade, then an FJ Cruiser as you stretch the body further, don't go much wider than 1950mm or it'll become a Hummer H1.

There is rumor/leak about PC version of GT7 coming out. If this will be true then I think GT7 will be supported much longer.

We don't need any more Silvias, Skylines, 86s, NSXs etc. because we already have them.
False. We need the US-spec S13 240SX "Onevia," both in SOHC and DOHC variety, and the US-spec S14 240SX (both a and b variants, thank you). The KA24 has a completely different attitude and power curve than the CA18DE featured in the S13Qs in the game, and we don't have any NA S14s.

It is apples an oranges, but I thought GTS was behind schedule and PD was sitting on a back log of unfinished content that forced them to stumble into a constant drip feed of content post release.

GT7, was planned for this drip release, but PD is using that timeline now as development runway time, so they're behind again.

Maybe
Or maybe not, a
Track will be included that
Everybody would be happy with, even the
Gloomy guts out there couldn’t moan about its
Inclusion

😜

Edit: should probably say, I have no insider info, just having a little fun. If you work it out 🤫
