Gran Turismo 7's Next Update is Coming September 28, Adds Three New Cars

Have to see what the patch notes bring. Otherwise, not too optimistic we'll get some meaningful events that can bring a positive mood. Just curious why the 2month gap.

Either way, cant wait to take the cars for a burl.

Garage RCR Civic => the Gran Turismo Award in 2017

Honda Civic Type R ’22 => FL5 model

MAZDA3 Gr.4 2023 => 2.2L SkyActiv-D

Leaving the lack of content we are all unhappy about aside, think this will be a great car to race. There’s something about stripped out interiors on this game that makes them look so good

The situation with a new track gets funnier and funnier with each update. I wonder what's the reason behind this. Maybe they are not even planning to release any new tracks for GT7? Seems a bit early for them to slow down with the support to slowly move towards GT8.
I still don't think it's the case, but update's content feels even more like "end of support" type, if you think about it. We got the SEMA Civic, which PD kinda "has" to add, and then we got Mazda 3 and Civic, both seems to be heavily linked with manufacturers-supported events. It feels similar to some updates from the end of GT Sport, when we would get 1 "partnership" car, except this time it's 3 cars.

Again, don't think it's the case, but it kinda feels like it.

The cars all look very good, the best selection for quite some time.

A new track or bumper selection of events/features (I guess we don't know those yet?) would have made this a top tier update.

PD have clearly settled into their end-of-cycle DLC routine. If I was to speculate I'd say we'll get another 18-36 cars and one more all-new track. Perhaps some variations on other tracks.

But all the juicy stuff seems like it will be saved for GT8.
Yeah GT7 seems to be on life support at this point. We'll probably get more Sophy tests on top of what you've mentioned, but at this point I wouldn't be surprised to see GT8 announced next year.

It took them 2 months to create 2 menu books? What ever happened to seasonal events? I've never seen a game dev drop support for an existing product this quickly before. Maybe they're busy spending all their time on making the Nurburgring TF layout available online /s

Still a newbie in the game, still far away from owning all cars, and probably won't own all of them anyway, because I cannot bring myself to grind dozens of millions of credits for those 20+ mill cr. car prices. I am also fine with any new cars, because I already have a nice list of favourites.

But I was shocked to see in some Youtube video that there are 5 or so circuits with totally unused track layouts (except for some circuit experience or time trial, I think). I think, instead of new cars and new circuits, it would be really nice to see more events on the lesser used track layouts. And yes, with better payout, please? :)

In 2023, its hard to find an engine less interesting, than one running biodiesel….

I’ll hold my tongue, with the rest of it until tomorrow…

🤦‍♂️

Just imagine a detailed roadmap giving information of what to expect in the coming months. Such a basic idea seems so complex for PDI's standards. I couldn't care less about Forza, but I have to admit they're doing a pretty decent job on that part.

Yes, I really enjoyed the car selection for this month, but that alone simply won't do it. Things are really getting, you know... depressing.

Maybe it's time for a GTP editorial on the state of GT7 @Jordan?

So much toxicity in the GT community right now.

At the very least I think it's time for PD to address Kaz's promises back in March '22 on the PS Blog about various features & events that have still not been delivered. I think we can all agree they've had plenty enough time.

PD must be aware of the discontent. But I feel they can brush it aside and maintain their silence without pressure from external sources. We saw that with the response to the economy issues.

As much as the GTWS live events are meant to be a celebration of Gran Turismo. It's starting to feel like a bit of a clique where the great and the good of GT, be it drivers, influencers, press, are treated to a jolly. While the broader playerbase is left completely in the dark with sub-par updates and a lack of communication.

TBH, if PD came out and stated their focus was now on GT8, that would be fine. But they need to set expectations. GT7 feels like a game at the end of it's supported life, when we all expected it to be kicking into top gear!

Of course the "GT7 is dying" comments are coming...
Planned obsolescence is a very real thing.

Either people think PD are so incompetent they can't address the most basic of needs to satisfy the large GT7 playerbase (events, features, payouts, QoL). Or PD are very much aware of these shortcomings, but their focus is elsewhere. Be it GT8 or some kind of GT7 Spec II. Afterall, there is no financial benefit for Sony to continue supporting PS4. But every reason to switch 100% of dev resources to PS5 & PS5 Pro. A quick look at Sony's AAA line-up shows they aren't averse to re-releasing special editions and remasters. Only today they announced HFW Complete Edition for PS5 & PC.

This is a very different Sony management to the one that let PD of old do as they please.

Let's not forget this update is free. I think I would pay for content if the option was there, maybe insisting on it being free is actually hurting PD and their resources?
