Everyone's running the R92CP? Looks like I'll be fielding the 787B in custom colors, loved the scream down the straights.

It's a difficult choice, fuel economy or sound. I love that 787B sound but 962C is so much better on fuel.

The last time I did a test at Le Mans the difference was huge, estimate for a full tank (I don't remember the multiplier)
Nissan R92CP 4.3 laps
Mazda 787B 3.5 laps
And the 962C has better fuel economy compared to the R92CP.

@Satomiblood I have the same problem with the decals on the 962C, I ignore the bleed.

You know you can just sort that out with layer settings. Wrap and depth of the layer you're working with.

That doesn't always work with curved surfaces. It didn't help with the 962C in that spot. But is a nice trick to get a decal projected on the inside part, then cover up the outside with a different depth setting.

Yeah, I kept adjusting it and it was still bleeding through. A similar thing happened with the Bandai logo, but I adjusted the sliders and it was fixed.

I’m actually rolling with the Porsche 962.
Hmmm that's worth considering.

That's quite a huge difference in fuel consumption! Though all rotary engines are thirsty monsters since they take up more engine capacity.

But I'll still stick with the 787B and try working it out with my pitstop strategy.

You should be able to extend the fuel by changing your driving and setup. The Nissan should be able to do a 2 stopper from the short amount of testing I did while setting up the car.

Yep, I did that comparison with AT and FM 1 to keep it fair. However in the previous 5 lap Le Mans daily races you could easily make it without a stop in the R92CP and 962C with short shifting only (stay in FM1) The 962C had enough fuel to shift at half the bar or even later to accelerate faster on the straight while the R92CP needed to be shifted in the early part of the bar. The 787B needs fuel map management as well as short shifting and loses a lot of time to make it without a pit stop. However pit stops don't take that much time anymore and a longer race like this will reduce the difference. 3 stops vs 2 stops instead of 1 stop vs no stop.

Strategic drafting will be important :)

The server is down for me, I hope tomorrow morning is early enough to beat the outtages. Guess I'll try a practice run in arcade mode.

Sneaky! No Bop, max HP settings should change the fuel economy quite a bit.

787B, 1.20x BOP
R92CP, 1.14x BOP
962C, 1.18x BOP

R92CP might match the fuel economy of 962C with these settings yet 787B will be even faster!

Yeah, I just got done testing the lobby settings in a custom race and couldn’t do an online save or manual reconnect. If the servers are still down for maintenance tomorrow morning, it’ll be best to reschedule.

Here’s what the grid is looking like so far for tomorrow:

I’m still planning on hosting the event. Hopefully, the server is available and cooperative. If there’s a disconnect, I’ll create another room.

I’ve thought about changing the room privacy to public to give us a shot at a bigger grid, but I want to keep the in-race distractions to a minimum.

Thanks for the race! Not a lot of interaction on the track, but great endurance event. I did manage to draft @si_berian_tiger for a couple laps until I lost him again. After that I did keep improving and set my FL in the final stint, 1:58.4, thanks to lower fuel at the end. I might have been a bit faster overall with 2 pit stops instead of 3 but it would not have changed the outcome. GR.C cars at Spa are fun!

Really enjoyed this. Group C on RS is a bit a combination!

Its a shame that the tyre wear is so much more pronounced for DS4 users - I think I could've been closer to the front if it was a bit more equal to wheel users.
I enjoyed a nice little battle with Pigems in the first stint - lovely piece of racing at the final chicane. I managed to get alongside in the braking area and get the power down a little quicker coming out onto the start/finish straight .

Here we are battling into La Source.

Thanks to everyone that showed up yesterday. It was a nice reprieve from the usual sprint events we do. I actually wouldn’t mind doing another Group C event in the near future, this time at La Sarthe.

I did a reshuffling of the Upcoming Events section. Next Sunday, we’re going to have an F1 sprint series.
