This could be a stupid question.

But any guesses as to how big the beta download could be?
Would we be looking at perhaps 15Gb or more like 40Gb?

I'm thinking that perhaps someone who has been involved in betas and then downloaded the final product might have some basis in making an educated guess.

well, the whole GT6 is 15GB... I highly doubt the GTS beta will weigh more than that. I actually think we are looking at 5-ish gigs

most of GT6 content are actually HQ movies...

Oh no.
Please don't go there. :sly:
(Some will know what I'm refering to. )

But I appreciate your input to suggest the file size will be rather moderate. 👍

I guess we will know in a few days time.
But I don't know, however, how deep the NDA runs, and if a simple fact like that is taboo.

Beta in Europe is after USA. So, we will receive code next week, probably.....
I found this quote, from the Aus. website of gran-turismo.com, which is part of the EU region, interesting.
"As the BETA begins to increase in size, those who have signed up within the EU BETA Portal (see related link below) or received a direct e-mail will be selected to participate in Phase 2 of the closed BETA. Spaces will be limited so, if you don’t get into Phase 2, make sure you stay tuned for future BETA activities in the run-up to launch!"

Now I don't pretend to know exactly what this means.
But to me it seems to imply that everyone who signed up will eventually get an invite.
I could, of course, be wrong. :sly:

The time-frame between regions is anyone's guess though.

Does anyone know or have a guess how they pick people for the Closed Beta?

1. You must be a playstation plus member
2. You must own Playstation Pro
3. You have to have registered a time on tt on GT6, the more the merrier
4. You must have at least 50 online friends
6. You must speak proper English which rules out most of America
7. You must not be a Donald Trump supporter
8. You must understand that Europeans are very jealous that Americans get the first crack at the beta.
9. You must have a sense of humour
9. tbc :gtpflag:

If I were to make one quick and easy selection criteria to apply, it would be to query time logged playing GT6 against a PSN ID, and pick the people that played the most. Especially those who played online the most, if that distinction could be made.

A closed beta with limited slots that tests online functionality wouldn't benefit from a bunch of people with little interest racing online, who may put it down after a few hours.

Assetto Corso - one player only. If I was interested in online then I'd buy GTS.
Cool. Reason I asked is because I am awaiting something a bit more in depth and "free" than the titles we have at the moment, something where I can mod and tune cars like the good old days. I have held off on Assetto Corsa but am thinking I will make the leap.

Edit: but

I wonder if it is just very very random, do we know numbers yet of how many will be testing? Only a guess but they must want a few thousand at least, I am hoping we all get a chance and everyone that took the time to apply, as they increase numbers they could drop the first batch of people after a week and rotate it etc?

Could they check every ones data? i.e what wheel, VR, add ons you use or what games or time of day/night you play ?
I am not sure they will have time to check all this on every application, we don't want the beta to be delayed! :sly:

If it is by how long you play online races I have no chance, I play mostly offline and spend far to long messing around in GT6 photo mode than racing on the wheel, so I think I may be missing this beta :gtpflag:

Wasn't GT5P a beta? If it was, we won't see the game for another year. I mean, content(which I missed because I wasn't online back then) was added and online support was given.

As I mentioned above, if beta "testers" are only given a handful of cars & tracks, I suspect, things may go quickly. However, if there are a host of cars(let's put it at half the revealed list), 10 tracks, livery editor, scapes, seasonals and a few online lobbyies, might be a while.

GT5P was no more a beta than GTS will be when it is finally released. In both cases full releases.

Bizarre thing to say.

GT5P was a fantastically designed piece of software and my favourite GT game to date.

(Unless I've misread you. It was a confusing sentence haha. In which case, sorry!)

I was pointing out that it wasn't a beta.
