Will be nice to see at least a new trailer during the conference, not for two days before like some sort of indie game no one care about. The conference is also the best place to announce release date and to start promoting the game. I think "no GTS on conference" equals to "release date is far away".

I'm thinking (and would bet) that new trailer showing all new content (and a new feature) with a release date (not a window).

Then there will be a panel probably having Kaz or the US guy that always shows up.

Is anyone else a little worried about the car list as it stands? There's not a single model that's pre-2009, and we've got roughly a third of the list now. I can't fathom a Gran Turismo without any classic cars.
There's still hope^^ Just a feeling but I think that plans have changed. At the announcement, Poly emphasised the word "Sport", the game is called "GT Sport". The logo now is "Gran Turismo Sport", and they highlight the brand "Gran Turismo". Even the watermark in the beta has changed, from "GT Sport" to the classic "Gran Turismo" logo that we all know. It's a way to tell : "hey, look! it's a true GT, like GT3 : A-Spec". In a week we will know if I'm wrong and Poly a bit stubborn...

Yeeeah, it was only a matter of time til GT had to go through the big chop - they tried to avoid it with the standard cars in GT5/6 but they finally just went for it after getting so much flak for that move. Personally, I'm gonna miss my 80s-90s JDM vehicles. I feel your pain man.

Makes me wonder though... Those premium cars in GT5/6 looked quite good, even by 2017 standards, so I was really surprised when they decided not to recycle those. I don't think seeing premiums/super premiums on the same track would have been as jarring as seeing standards/premiums on the same track. Or maybe they'll bring those premiums to super premium levels after the GT Sport launch?

Standard cars, premium cars, super premium cars - I swear...only PD .

Hi there.

I noticed on last days that, even when I surpass way out the distance required by Daily Workout, I am not receiving my gift car. Is that an issue or the rules for the gifts have changed somehow?

I double-checked my Garage (sorting by date acquired) and I am sure I was not awarded at least since patch 1.06.

damn, i'm a sucker at racing! :boggled: had a couple of races last night but did not win once! i managed to get a 3rd place when i startet from 11th and that made me happy none the less. :D
i love the sound of the gravel hitting the cars body. missed those details...!
my t300 is having the same stutter error some users mentioned so i played with DS4. i wish there was more precise ffb to give the wheel some more life!
i had that throttle bug too (where the throttle is gone for a sec) even if you press it 100%. but it only happend when racing online (not when i do qualifiers). hope this gets fixed.

Dont know if this has been addressed already, but just started my first N300 Nurburgring qualifying for a while, and the starting point is at the beginning of the touristfahrten.. That area has most certainly also had a lot of new stuff added off track. :odd: a trackday variant coming?

Looks cool but kills my interest in quali as it now takes ages to even get to the startingline in n300 after a retry..

What the 🤬 is happening:confused: Just less than 12h ago i was hotlapping with vantage gt3 in willow and had a very good tune at the end with stable 1:11.6 (video in the video thread). Now started again and my vantage tune is reset to default - even the tcs was on 3:mad:. WTF

Did have a weird incident on that run as at the end of the run screen showed a slower time as fastest time and that 1:11.6 was in red for no apparent reason. Yet it shows as my fastest time in qualifying.. :odd::confused::mad::indiff::grumpy:

I think BoP is finally slowly coming around. Here is my Vantage GT3 1:11.6 at willow.

Sorry for the double.. I was a bit furious at that point..

And yet in your last post you cited exactly this as a reason why iRacing is bad. 69 exquisitely physically modelled cars, and yet that's a negative versus 140 in GTS.

I think you need to get your reasoning straight. If you're OK with a small amount of well modelled cars (and I sure am), then you're OK with it in any game.

See above for why you are happy with a small amount of well modelled cars, but only in a game called Gran Turismo.

Isn't it funny how hypocrisy can sneak in when you're talking about brands that you have an emotional attachment to?

I never said that iRacing was a bad game because it had 69 cars - I said 69 cars is a low count for a 10 year old game. I never said that 141 cars was a small car count, but that PD learned a lesson after including standard cars in PS3 GT games. -->So because I think iRacing's 69 car count is low, and I think GT's 141 count, over 100% more, is acceptable for a modern sim, I'm a hypocrite? Now my standards and thinking are in question?

I love discussing the pros/cons of these games, and I've spent a lot of time agreeing with a lot of the negative comments on GTP - even the negatives in our back and forth. I don't consider those that have negative comments as "naysayers", just folks that want to see the game continue to evolve - and that's OK.

But there is a fine line between having a discussion and simply making deductions to smash someone's nuts (figuratively - not implying we're all guys here).

I think there might be some bugs with the sector splits in the HUD bar that calculates the opt time/ current best etc. Will need to double check but I had all red sectors in one lap but at the end it was my best lap by a whole 6 tenths :odd:

Another "issue" is I'm now spending too much time watching replays of the GT3 cars. (these pops and crackles are mesmerizing)

Then there will be a panel probably having Kaz or the US guy that always shows up.
And then at the end of the presentation, the US guy says:
"We are also pleased to announce that early next month GT players around the world will be able to download free of charge a special GT Sport demo, which will be used to hold the 2017 GT Academy competition."
:D

About the amount of cars in a GT game. I think most of us have been accustomed to drive cars that are more accessible than pure exotic supercars, and I hope we will be able to drive those beloved under dogs against super cars in a GT game again. 140 or 400 or 1000 does not matter if everyone get to drive at least one of their favourite car. Or am I wrong?

Correct and I'm hoping they build the lower N series group as much as possible. Makes me wonder what their release schedule will be like for new cars, and if we'll get them for free like in GT6.

I'm not sure if we will be able to buy performance upgrades or not? fingers crossed for PD confirmed details at E3.

Didn't think of that, that sounds pretty reasonable.
Even though it was a light hearted post, there is certainly a good chance something like that may happen.

We had the pre GT5 launch 2010 demo.
And the pre GT6 launch 2013 demo.
Plus it's the right time of year to be hearing GT Academy news.

They have 5 options to my mind.
1. Release a demo.
2. Hold it during the open beta phase.
3. Use live events again.
4. GT Sport is released early enough and it's held in-game.
5. Cancel the event for 2017.

A demo, and an announcement soon, seems to have good odds to me. :)

There will be no demo we will get a release date next week or ill eat my ps4 and buy a scorpio with forza..... done waiting. If its later san forza and scorpio then iam gone.

Because i like gameing on my couch with a controller and my big ass 4k hdr screen and the non software/hardware crap. Just download and playyyyyyy !

Ow and when sony anouncing something about a new PS then i will wait haha

Well, if the beta continues on track as it has done so far, we could be looking at an open beta for all to play in around a months time.
I guess that could be seen as a free to download demo. ;)

But regarding the Academy, I'm just not sure if holding the event in a beta would be considered appropriate.
Which is why I mentioned a dedicated demo.

On another note.
I was reading the discussion about the games console selling power.
Here's an interesting interview I saw earlier.
It seems the console and accessories are still selling strong.
A few quotes:
"Sony now says its flagship games platform has sold-through—meaning to buyers and not just stores—close to 60 million units worldwide since its launch in November 2013."

"PlayStation VR now boasts more than one million units sold worldwide, up from about 900,000 in February 2017."

"And of every five PlayStation 4s Sony sells, Layden says one is a PlayStation 4 Pro"

http://time.com/4804768/playstation-4-ps4-pro-psvr-sales/

I'll post this here as it's a more appropriate thread.

But I've been thinking about the conversation I was having with @Mr P.
And the more I think about it the more I'm convinced my assumption is wrong.

PD seem to break it down to Asia Pacific, Europe, and the Americas.
And Sports Mode FIA events will be top ranked by country, flown to live event for region final, flown to world final.

It would seem impossible to select a time of day for races that would be fair when there's 11 hours difference between London and Wellington.
So unlike how it's always been, I think Aussies and Kiwis need to prepare to race in Asian events.

I imagine the current grouping of countries per region in the beta is how it will stand.
Regardless of SONY's typical PS region groups.

Edit to add:
On another note.
Is it just me, or does the change to the shift light colours on the rev counter in the beta now seem to correspond rather nicely to the colours of the new PS4 CSL base and wheel lights. :P

Quick question, are cars able to roll over?
I've not seen it yet, and not sure I've heard anyone mention it.

And considering some of my banzai runs through the chicane at Dragon Trail while qualifying, I would think one of those might have done it.
