You forgot GTPSP and GT5P. I quickly counted total sales to be 27 million. Let the average price be $40 = $1.08 billion. DLC + microtransactions could add around $50-150 million to that figure. Admittedly my mental maths were a bit off but the point still stands. The revenue PD have created is absurd for a first party studio and its why they have such leeway in SCE.
Yet you're missing the main point, that's only if they receive every single dollar of every single game sold, and expenses go absolutely no where else.

You think I don't know that. There is a reason I said revenue. Its an easy gross figure to calculate. With the generously low estimate of SCE getting 50% of the revenue (DLC, digital would skew this higher, being the publisher and platform holder means larger returns compared to third parties), thats already $600 million on returns. To put that into perspective iirc the recent Operating income for the entire PS division last quarter was $200 million.

Yes, I very much think you don't know that because you're adding up sales of a game at $60 per every game sold, and counting every bit of money earned from that as 100% their revenue. If you knew that than you've only literally made it clear with this very post.

No I did not and no I haven't.
Yes you did and yes you did.
he company makes ridiculous bank ($1.5-2 billion last gen in revenue from GT games)
Hardly. Total GT sales were 27 million in that period. Including DLC, its not hard to see it come near $1.5 billion.
27million x 60$ a game comes out to 1.6 billion, and you're also talking about it with DLC adding a couple hundred million more. That's how you got your range of $1.5-2 billion, by adding every single penny of every game sold(at $60 per game.)

He's totally forgetting that the companies that makes the plastic box, the disc and print the cover artwork/game manuals have to get paid, too. Then Sony takes a cut, then the licencees, be it cars or tracks, and eventually PD receives some money in the end. So while the sales do add up to 1.5 billion, in reality Sony and PD probably receive 60-70% of that, at best.

That percentage comes down even further when you factor in the retailers cut.

After some Googling the subject of revenue and profits, it would seem that game studios end up without about half of each sale. That gross income has to cover licensing, taxes, employees, basically all the costs to produce the game over the year or two/three/four it was developed. Only about 25% of video games break even.

Wish : A huge Campaign mode with lots of endurance races, tunning, daily cars, JDMs, fun...
Reality : HDR, eSport, FIA, the red color, scapes...

Yes, considering the forum maybe a trailer done with different clips of p´revious trailers, a couple of cars reveals and more techincal talk, I think we'll se the pending news until TGS

Conveniently ignores my latest posts lmao. Nice try.

Which is pretty hard to do if you're counting GTPSP and GT5P since they both started at $40...

Balanced by GT5/6/special editions/digital

Balanced by GT5/6/special editions/digital

Prologue and PSP combined sold almost exactly 10 million copies. At no more than $40 per unit — and, realistically, a good chunk sold at less than that — there would need to be 10 million GT5/6 special editions sold at $100/unit to balance that out. Or, expressed another way, 10 out of every 17 copies of GT5 & GT6 sold would have had to been special editions at full retail price.

Europe got the mega-pricey Signature GT5 edition, but how many of the 7.3 million sales there do you think it represents?

C'mon man — just admit your original number was wildly ambitious. Unless you have a breakdown of the sales of each edition, it's just a guessing game.

Double Post but:
150 Cars, 17 Locations and 27 layouts...nothing new really. 145 Campaign Events? Same.

There is reason for that :

From PSX SEA official website. Hence they said "games straight from E3 2017" which is probably the latest build isn't available on the event. So all content and features is basically the same as we have seen in this year E3. Would like to see more of the latest stuff btw (especially some content that is still locked...)

So... when is Gamescom then?

Also, happy birthday Kaz! Wish you a success and good luck!

No I didn't. I specifically noted that post in the post right before that. You said that you didn't do what was listed in this post

Yet if we multiply 27 mil x $60 than it's 1.6bil. So you did exactly that. It was too illustrate the point you disagreed with in that post.
