Strangely, I don't think PD has to choose between "say nothing for half a year about a game beta whose release is supposed to be imminent" and "say stupid things for several years about how awesomely perfect a game will be on release before actually releasing an unfinished mess."

Depressingly good point.

These two options are all we've had from them for years.

Something must be amiss behind the scenes.

Did this ever say 'public' at any point...?

Don't give them ideas for excuses!

There is no doubt that between the 27th October and now something happened that meant the beta couldn't be delivered. Could be development issues, waiting for the "delayed" VR launch or holding back for the PS4K. May be a bit of all three.

It is that they say nothing that gets under peoples skin. If they just came out and said this is the issue/reason it hasn't happened, here is the new date. I for one would be happy with that.

Even if the beta is for May, a beta is generally close to the final product? Like just a few weeks before the release?

No, a true BETA used to get feedback and change the game based on said feedback must be released at least 3 months before the release so developers have enough time to make the changes.

These "BETAS" released recently just a couple of weeks before release are simply glorified demos to rise awareness of the game and increase sales.

Does this 146 page thread have any information or is it all speculation and mudslinging between fanbases?

Has the last six months resulted in any new information from Polyphony or Sony, or are we still stuck with a single trailer, some comments from a Sony exec and a marketing intern who has a remarkable facility for making what we already know sound like new information?

GT5 wasn't really announced until GT:HD was cancelled right after the PS3's launch. It's similar to how GT3 wasn't really announced until Sony told everyone that what was supposed to be GT2000 wasn't coming out at all and it would instead be reworked into a real GT game.

GT6 was announced at the GT 15th Anniversary shindig Sony threw together.

Ok, I've never tried AC but I did try pCARS on a controller and it was utter s:censored:t, it was a while ago and I remember playing the first race with clios... that FWD car spun out on the STRAIGHT!!! Then I tried M3 e30 and even if you get a hint of oversteer it is impossible to correct it, messed with the settings and controller presets for an hour, nothing helped, sold it for 2/3 of the price.(NOTE: pCARS is probbably x100 times better with a wheel but I don't have it).Got back to GT6 and it was just amazing, first I drove an NA mx5 and it was very easy to drive, well balanced, oversteery but fun, then I tried NC miata and it was a lot more planted and serious than the NA, then I drove an EK civic and it had "pronounced" exit understeer, then I drove an NSX and that thing was like a dart, then I drove a 787b and that thing was very twichy and unstable but menagable... Anyways my point is that it's incredible how good GT6 play's with the controller.(I guess you could say that's groundbreaking by itself, lol but let's not go there)

One more thing, GTS doesn't need to be groundbreaking just because it's bigger name than the rest, it just needs to be better than pCARS and AC. People won't care that GTS isn't groundbreaking as long as it's the best console sim out there.

And will it be the best? We'll just have to wait and see
I try for some hours PC on pc with wheel!
Its like a upgraded nfs shift game..
Assetto corsa is way better.. But i like more tge overall feeling of gt...
Aslo I know some real life race driver to confirm this!

It's not about which game is technically more realistic, it's just what feels better to you

I hope that gtsport is 100% "next gen". The seasonal event on Deep Forest this week is so dull : standard track with standard cars with zombie AI... I play Trackmania at the moment and gt6 almost feels like retro gaming sometimes.
GTsport is their last chance if they want to stay a big seller.

Social media : Poly doesn't understand how works facebook or twitter, if it's simply copy and past from the official site, we don't need this.

The problem is that most people don't want to take the time to set-up or find a setting that worked, and rightfully so, especially with how ridiculous it is to test your own settings. The settings should be available from the in-game pause menu, but as it sits, trial and error took so long that made it a bit intimidating, and underwhelming. At launch, the game was badly optimized on the pad(at least on Xbox One) and have released some updates since but, for my self at least, it was something that pushed me away from the game. There is no pull for me to even get it going since then, coupled with the problems with frame issues.
I quite agree that it should have been both easier to tweak, clearer what the tweaks did and better balanced from the start (I am also pretty sure that the PS4, which I'm using, was better than the XBox 1 at launch in this regard).

However its is still perfectly possible to both use a pad with PCars and to be competitive with a pad on PCars

Its a topic for another thread, but no its not, not even close.

Personal preference is personal, so no issue with that at all. Personally I find GT dull, lifeless and with over-damped control.

Good for you, I know some who don't. Doesn't really change a thing.

I agree that GTS is their last chance but I really don't care anymore if it's a success or not. With AS, PCars, Dirt Rally, Driveclub and whatever else comes our way in the next two years I certainly won't miss a GT title in my collection. It would be fantastic if it is a wonderful game but if it's not I've got plenty to keep me busy racing wise.

I sadly feel the same way, and I was a BIG GT fanboy (if anyone remembers which I'm sure) back than. Just can't trust anything PD does or say anymore and that's honestly sad of me to say that...

Agreed, of course, but don't you think it's a shame that the most famous console racing game is dying such a weird, slow, silent death* in modern times?

*probably :)

I was a huge fan, it was the best game ever made back in the day. I've recounted this before but I remember playing FM2 and all my xbox live mates waxing lyrical about how great FM was and I would always sit there in silent smug satisfaction thinking, 'just you wait for the next GT to drop that will show you how good a real racing game can be'. And it just didn't happen, and it's been downhill for GT ever since then for me.

I really don't think it's a shame, they have brought it on themselves with burying their heads in the sand and pandering to Kaz's own distorted view of 'his' game. Other games, plenty of them, have shown how it can be done for the past few years and GT just seems to have failed to deliver, they only have themselves to blame and I have little sympathy for them any more.

Successfully turning gamers into major Motorsport event winners, interacting with internationally established car makers to develop concepts that eventually turn into real-world cars, igniting a collaboration with the FIA to push the franchise towards an official E-sport competition,... Sure all these must not detract PD to fix what needs to be, but the GT franchise is far from dying IMO.

GT6 has crashed and burned. The franchise will rise from the ashes as a phoenix. GTS will ascend the gaming charts. Forever etched in the hearts and souls of car enthusiasts. Not as a reinvention of the wheel. Rather, as a new road, that connects bridges, in the virtual world.

Gran Turismo can only go up from here.

Um, because they announced an early 2016 beta, and E3 is way past early 2016, so the October announce for a major release (and the first GT on a 'new' console is major news, especially for this forum) and then total silence for the entire 'early 2016' period? I'm sorry, but that is super weird.

No it's not, the PD that's been talked about for years is one that deeply lacks transparency in what they say and actually do. To a point where people continually wonder what is going on. Which is why many people here weren't surprised when deadlines were missed. I'm not really sure when you joined the GT fandom but I've been on since GT1 and have seen many delays and then no real reason as to why they happened just that they did.

GT5 and GT6 were both demoed/announced at E3.

Read what @Imari and @Tornado have said, also the comment to my question doesn't answer it considering the context of why I asked in the first place. If you read the response jm79 posted you'll understand it has nothing to do with an E3 demo.
