What does a game need to stand out of the competition. A unique selling point.

And GTS has that.

It's not the gfx, with the raise of new gfxcards for PC even a PSNeo can't hold the water.

It's not the selection of cars.

It's not the sounds.

But it is the FIA tie in. Obtaining a valid FIA lisence, recognized in 22 countries, well that is amazing.

People want Driveclub graphics, Forza 6 car count, Asseto Corsa physics, 32 cars on track, 60 FPS, the most realistic looking tracks between all the racing games and the best looking car models. Yeah, with these expectations it's kind of hard to please everyone...

@ColouredBadger.

Sorry but saying the Neo is a 'slight overclock' is silly. The GPU alone would go from 1.84Tflops to 4.2Tflops.

It would be like someone claiming their Fiesta ST is only slightly faster than a 100BHP 1.0 Ecoboost.

This also doesn't take account of the CPU overclock nor whether the GPU is a simply a doubling of the Pitcairn based CUs or if Polaris based.

The Scapes are amazing.

The in game stuff was OK, it had problems maintaining a steady frame rate, it appears to have limited or no AA. We're yet to see VR, that may end up being a course maker-esque addition if they can't stabilise the frame rate.

It's roughly equivalent to pCARS. Which depending on how you look at it is either fine or not that great considering that Polyphony has traditionally had the best looking racing games each generation by a significant margin (at least when considering premium cars and tracks in the case of PS3).

Not the hardware excuse again. We already had a whole generation of "the PS3 is holding them back, just wait until they get to PS4".

No, they said it hasn't moved on far enough from GT6. And they're kind of right. Or at least, if that's how they feel about it you can't really tell them that they're wrong to feel that way.

You're not telling me that's PCARS level. IMO that rivals driveclub and beats it on lighting.

It could be worse, we haven't seen stuttering entering corners, slow downs with many cars in view, sticky cars, cars hitting invisible walls, crashes to home screen with error report have we ? Imagine if PCars has similar venue a a few weeks before console release on Xbone and PS4, imagine those release day bugs, glitches and errors during MP races / live stream. Not going to be good for sales on release after long multiple delays. PD took huge risk IMO doing this on daily build with graphics issues, physics and sound that highly likely a WIP and still underwhelming. Now we can see for what it is the current state of GTS build 6 months before "tentative" release date ( could be delayed :P )

Really hoping AC will do similar venue, live stream MP races on console sometime before release :P
A game with a miniscule budget built by a dozen core guys isn't going to hold an event that an AAA budgeted game does.

The graphics might look similar, but the vehicle models aren't even close, PD wins by a landslide on that front.
In photomode yes. On the track they appear to be about the same as PCars. I'd guess 80-100k polygons.

Reveal trailer...

But then, gameplay footage...

I wouldn't worry about that just yet. That upper photo looks like a placeholder on an unfinished portion of the track.

If GTsport is a placeholder for the main game then I hope those who purchase GTSport are upgraded for free to GT7.

I would expect nothing less for a placeholder.
That would make all the previously released Prologues placeholders, meaning we should have received GT5 and GT6 for free, right?

It ought to be the physics as well, but we've had little or no hyping of that this time round, and reports are that it's much the same as GT6.

I guess it remains to be seen if they've even sorted out some of the oddities in the suspension/alignment settings. They'd better, if they want the FIA tie-in to mean anything at all.

Kunos could get support from 505 games, the console publisher, a small event should do, 6-10 PS4 with TV and wheel, hosted by the devs in a hotel or shopping mall ? Streaming don't cost too much money, am I right ?

I saw a pic on AC threads, the devs showed lots of PS4 in testing :P

Show me ONE person who has said they wanted and expected that. Just one.

Just watch the reviews... watch the critics on everything that happens with the game... watch the expectations before the presentation from yesterday. I didn't mean ONE PERSON wants all that, just that if you watch closely, you will see people asking for more cars on track AND 60 FPS AND top of the line graphics in both track and cars. Am I lying or something?

Now I know where I heard this song before, here is the original with the old rework https://soundcloud.com/piersbaron/as-our-witness-1

BTW a5bark ey ya 3li :)

Hey buddy, I'm fine where have you been ;) ? thanks for posting the old rework.

Edit: Just realized @Scaff is going to test it today, if there is one guy I trust about the physics and giving an honest opinion it's him. Can't wait.

Edit: I edited in a dp, that's a new form of stupidity :D

So no, you can't. You're using hyperbole to make a point against people that don't exist.

The problem is, people are expecting exceptional quality from the PS4, some of whom haven't played current PS4 games as they don't own one yet. Games aren't that graphically outstanding on PS4 because, at the end of the day, the specs of the PS4 are only low-mid gaming PC level. My laptop is half PS4 spec, and that's just a standard ACER laptop.

Which I suppose people are saying about the PS4K, or Neo. But, I have looked at the specs of the Neo and its essentially just a slight overclocking to allow for guaranteed 60FPS with virtual reality. There will be little to no difference graphically between Neo and standard PS4. So those of you looking forward to Neo making GT Sport look much better, you'll be disappointed. If I'm wrong on this, then please feel free to donate humble pie. I don't think I will be wrong though.

I personally think that GT Sport looks the most natural of games out there in terms of lighting and environment detail. The fact that you can see the detail in the trees alone is outstanding to me. They beat every other game out there where that is concerned (in my opinion). But, it does have a small jump/gap in car quality from GT6, which only shows testament to how good GT6 looked on PS3, especially car models.

I'm very excited to see what they develop over the next 6 months.
But most importantly, I'm gonna waste so much of my life in the livery editor, assuming it's good enough to fully create in.

I just hope they don't mess up the balancing systems for the races. PD aren't very good at that with their PP systems of late...

What a load of rubbish, Read Digital Foundry's article on Uncharted 4, it is the best looking game ever made...Consoles don't need raw power as much as PC because of the fixed spec good devs can squeeze every ounce of power from the system and used unique techniques. The order, Drive club, Infamous, Battlefront, Witcher 3, Killzone all look amazing, and UC4 looks godly, rivals any PC game on MAX settings. Stop defending PD with this garbage,.

Forza in the weaker Xbox one looks better and has more content.

I meant apart from the trailer, that is crearly an old build.

For me at least, from the footage of the event, everything looks 3d.

I hope that in the release version all the trees will be like this:

i1KrS0tyhPf1cO.jpg

Isn't that photo/scape mode? Someone needs to stop at that point in gameplay and see if the trees/textures/IQ matches.

Hasn´t the second day of the event already started?
Instead of going back and forth with opinions on this thread I want to see what else is discovered today about the game..

I see a few people are playing counselor here. Maybe by the weekend, or even tomorrow, people will have calmed down and clearer thinking, and discussion, can resume. Thank God I missed the usual GT Planet implosion. :P

I think everyone needs to consider what GT Sport is: a placeholder for GT7, which likely is being worked on diligently behind the scenes by at least a fraction of the team. So what can we expect from a super-Prologue? Not as much as the full release title.

But what we're getting is a lot, really. Many of us wanted to see something bodacious, but the cautious warned to not expect much. 40, 50, 70 cars or so, 8 to 12 tracks. A bit more than GT5 Prologue, which would be enough for an eSport stand-in for GT7. For a while. Race Mod, Livery Editor? Don't even think it, you'll just be disappointed. New sounds, fairly realistic damage, world class A.I.? Yeah, don't go there either. Just expect a nice, prettier, shinier, MUCH smaller GT6 without Standards - cars anyway, maybe tracks. Samus and I both were gently evangelizing more, though of course in my typical TenD manner, I'm always a scouche more ambitious on what might be coming, so mentioned up to 150 cars, a number of car classes, 20 to 30 tracks, and I even tossed out the "livery" word now and then - hopefully, to be sure. But I was prepared for the much, MUCH smaller, prettier GT6, with a scoop of cars and a handful of tracks. No Race Mod, no modification at all, little or no damage, marginally improved A.I., maybe, and for sure no Livery Editor outside of a few templates per car, if that.

Well. And then the presentation began. Well... ;)

I'm happy. I got WAY more than I expected. No, not everything, as I'd asked for quite a bit, but what I'm getting is pretty substantial. My various car classes, and the sports cars are lumped into an "N Series," which says to me there will be more than one class of sports car racing - like, how does a Miata compete with a Focus and Corvette? There is a good selection of cars. The tracks look great, and the Nurb returns! Rally racing! We get Photo Mode? Awesome, and so many locations! And ZOMG, a Livery Editor! Online racing with championships with those real prizes. Offline, nearly 120 events! And more to come I believe. Who expected all this?

Oh yes, people wanted world class engine notes and radically different physics, simulator level damage, night racing, and weather up to severe. To an extent, not unreasonable wishes. Well, we can't have it all, that's just life. I didn't get everything for Christmas I wanted either. Some things are unclear. Will we get an Event Maker to make our own races with, online or off? Will we have private lobbies, or user lobbies at all? Can we manage anything in online racing ourselves? What will the bots race like? Don't know.

But, there is a "but." ;) The game isn't done yet. It will have around five more months of work done on it. You could be polite and lobby for things. A lot of our wishes will likely be put off for a Spec II update, or most likely GT7, but we can ask. Kaz does pay attention to his fans. Maybe I should emphasize... faaaans. People who want to dialog, suggest, make requests, not throw their egos around and bully like Donald Trump. Could we get some more goodies trickled down from GT7? Maybe, but I can't think that being belligerent about anything, threatening to run off to Those Other Games, will be anything but counterproductive to your causes.

And keep in mind, GT7. It's being worked on. Who knows what we'll be getting with it? Let's not have epic tantrums just yet. Like trustjab and a few other diehard loyalists, I'm the eternal Gran Turismo optimist. I think my optimism in the game, Kaz and the team, was justified today. I got some GOOD stuff in Sport to look forward to. Maybe more than that when it nears release. It bodes well for GT7. In Kaz and PD I trust. Mark my words.
Placeholder:lol: I am genuinely surprised that you're already out with the excuses on Day 1. I expected Day 2 or 3 at the earliest:sly: You know what's funny though? I don't think any excuses are necessary:D

Yeah, 6-10 guys with a tv and wheel in a hotel conference room or a shopping mall would look real professional.

Maybe you misunderstood my point.

No I interpreted it correctly. You're the other side of the coin to those guys, you only see what you want to see. You also don't understand a two sided debate by the looks of it either because you paraphrased the only actual fact being written as if it were a null statement. Let's see if you can find it.

I find this appropriate for quite a few people:

Also lots of this...

You do know reviewers some time do bull**** reviews? I listened to the radio and the movie reviewers there gave a 4.5/6 movie a rating of 1/10.

Call me crazy but I I liked this song yesterday and it's grown on me even more today, happy child and all. It's soothing, makes me feel calm and happy listening to it. Fits very well with the mood of the trailer, and the beautiful shots/footage in it. Will even go as far to say this will probably be one of my favourite GT trailers :)
You are crazy. :)

Did anybody up to now asked Kaz or any other official PD/Sony representives the big question: Is GT Sport, GT 7 or not?
Well, as far as I can see it. I am torn over all this. Some graphics looks really great, esp. the cars. But a lot of the rest, yes.. the damn trees and grass beside the track. That looks horrible! :( Not even PS-2 standard

On the other hand, seems like GT-S is just an E-Sport tool for PD and a "bigger" GT 7 Prologue version. I am fine with that, as long as we get in about 1-2 years the real, full Gran Turismo 7 :)

PS: Its hard to believe, that all the staffing with computer sound experts etc. was all for nothing. Still crossing fingers up to november ;)

It's not..why do people keep asking this? It's been known for ages. GT sport is not GT 7.

You clearly didn't look good enough. At one point in the stream I saw the wind making waves in the short grass. So I guess some patches of grass look really good, other patches look flat. My bet is that they will correct it all in the final game.

So in 3 years PD gives us this, meanwhile We will probably get a third Forza game with 3 times as much content this gen....Changes are needed this franchise, Sony and PD have totally botched the management of it. Having a franchise like PD end up like this and be revealed like this is embarrassing. Is it KAZ having too much sole authority an issue?
