I see a few people are playing counselor here. Maybe by the weekend, or even tomorrow, people will have calmed down and clearer thinking, and discussion, can resume. Thank God I missed the usual GT Planet implosion.
I think everyone needs to consider what GT Sport is: a placeholder for GT7, which likely is being worked on diligently behind the scenes by at least a fraction of the team. So what can we expect from a super-Prologue? Not as much as the full release title.
But what we're getting is a lot, really. Many of us wanted to see something bodacious, but the cautious warned to not expect much. 40, 50, 70 cars or so, 8 to 12 tracks. A bit more than GT5 Prologue, which would be enough for an eSport stand-in for GT7. For a while. Race Mod, Livery Editor? Don't even think it, you'll just be disappointed. New sounds, fairly realistic damage, world class A.I.? Yeah, don't go there either. Just expect a nice, prettier, shinier, MUCH smaller GT6 without Standards - cars anyway, maybe tracks. Samus and I both were gently evangelizing more, though of course in my typical TenD manner, I'm always a scouche more ambitious on what might be coming, so mentioned up to 150 cars, a number of car classes, 20 to 30 tracks, and I even tossed out the "livery" word now and then - hopefully, to be sure. But I was prepared for the much, MUCH smaller, prettier GT6, with a scoop of cars and a handful of tracks. No Race Mod, no modification at all, little or no damage, marginally improved A.I., maybe, and for sure no Livery Editor outside of a few templates per car, if that.
Well. And then the presentation began. Well...
I'm happy. I got WAY more than I expected. No, not everything, as I'd asked for quite a bit, but what I'm getting is pretty substantial. My various car classes, and the sports cars are lumped into an "N Series," which says to me there will be more than one class of sports car racing - like, how does a Miata compete with a Focus and Corvette? There is a good selection of cars. The tracks look great, and the Nurb returns! Rally racing! We get Photo Mode? Awesome, and so many locations! And ZOMG, a Livery Editor! Online racing with championships with those real prizes. Offline, nearly 120 events! And more to come I believe. Who expected all this?
Oh yes, people wanted world class engine notes and radically different physics, simulator level damage, night racing, and weather up to severe. To an extent, not unreasonable wishes. Well, we can't have it all, that's just life. I didn't get everything for Christmas I wanted either. Some things are unclear. Will we get an Event Maker to make our own races with, online or off? Will we have private lobbies, or user lobbies at all? Can we manage anything in online racing ourselves? What will the bots race like? Don't know.
But, there is a "but."

The game isn't done yet. It will have around five more months of work done on it. You could be polite and lobby for things. A lot of our wishes will likely be put off for a Spec II update, or most likely GT7, but we can ask. Kaz does pay attention to his fans. Maybe I should emphasize...
faaaans. People who want to dialog, suggest, make requests, not throw their egos around and bully like Donald Trump. Could we get some more goodies trickled down from GT7? Maybe, but I can't think that being belligerent about anything, threatening to run off to Those Other Games, will be anything but counterproductive to your causes.
And keep in mind, GT7. It's being worked on. Who knows what we'll be getting with it? Let's not have epic tantrums just yet. Like trustjab and a few other diehard loyalists, I'm the eternal Gran Turismo optimist. I think my optimism in the game, Kaz and the team, was justified today. I got some GOOD stuff in Sport to look forward to. Maybe more than that when it nears release. It bodes well for GT7. In Kaz and PD I trust. Mark my words.
